How do they get a C- when all the cop had to do was run his FBI ID? Is it impossible for a police officer to contact FBI and verify an agent? Why was that not the first thing he did?

Every sector of law enforcement and government should be afraid to engage in corruption for fear of arrest and prosecution....

I would assume that the agent was acting suspicious and escalating the situation on purpose. Putting people under stress and seeing how they react can be a useful tool in building a profile on an individual.

I dropped my jaw at this as well. Point A: "You know all those memes and jokes about how the FBI knows everything? I think you missed the vital point. They aren't jokes based on exaggerations or fantasies, the jokes are based on facts. That's the fun bit." (Dark humor is like food, not everyone gets it) Point B: It's the *FBI* , they have an annual budget (officially) of ca 11 billion dollars and employ around 35 000 people. Looking up your information to them is on the same level as reading a milk carton to verify it's content.

@@jimbanter It seems that the individual in question was not solely concerned with the traffic ticket itself, but rather the potential for negligent behavior on the part of the law enforcement officer who issued the ticket. In other words, the individual may be questioning the motivations or actions of the officer, and whether or not the ticket was issued fairly or appropriately. It's important to recognize that not all traffic tickets are issued for legitimate reasons, and it's possible that some officers may issue tickets in a manner that is not consistent with their duties and responsibilities. By addressing any issues of negligence or inappropriate behavior on the part of law enforcement officers, we can work towards improving the overall effectiveness and professionalism of our law enforcement agencies.

It accomplished nothing. They learned nothing. I could have told the FBI cops don't like to be investigated. No cops were fired, nothing changed. If the FBI wants to investigate police departments, they should send undercover agents with regular citizen IDs and get themselves pulled over, or walk around suspiciously, or maybe have another undercover agent call the police saying the first undercover looks suspicious, then when the cops come be annoying to cops a little but nothing illegal. Ask for name and badge number. Threaten to sue. Ask what they were being stopped for. See how the cops react. If the cops plant evidence, beat the person up, or lie, investigation success. Also they could send an undercover with ID saying they are a prosecutor, high ranking cop, or city official from a county across the state, have them speed, drunk drive, whatever and see if the cop lets them go when they say I'm a cop too. The FBI could bust bad cops everyday with this simple technique. If they actually gave a shit they would.

He didn't think of it on the spot. And most importantly, the body camera footage showed nothing of value. No police wrongdoing. At best he showed police and police departments don't like being investigated. But everybody already knew that. And the footage doesn't even prove this. Regardless, this is just in no way a reasonable method to verify the federal officers officer status. Say it was a different case under investigation by the federal agents. A case whose info is detailed publically. How is the federal officers validity to be verified then? There should be a reasonable method to do that, in a way, that cannot be exploited by people aiming to impersonate an officer. So yeh. I dont think a puzzle should be the basis for that. But hey. I believe the strangeness was to keep the officer there for sure. Until a certain point the cop could have easily backed out, or send in others to do it for them. Just enough to keep him there and get any information he had.
