Deployed Airman Returns Home to Surprise Son

Master Sgt. Joseph Martel, from the 480th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Unit, returns to Spangdahlem Airbase, Germany, on September 21st, from deployment to Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, with a new mission: to surprise his son, Justin, at his high school football game.

You know what real love is? It's a teenage boy crying in front of his fellow football players because his father shows up to surprise him. This is what family is all about.

AMEN! That young man has been raised right. Just when we think the youth of today is lost and then you see this and realize there are still some great ones who have Respect, Love of GOD and FAMILY, and Respect AND Love of this Country. Well said!

I've been split with my wife for 5 months after a nightmare of a marriage... but she took our toddler son to the boonies and I've only seen him twice, for an hour each, in 5 months. The last time was over a month ago. The custody battle is vicious and taking forever. I miss him sooo soooo much. I just find myself watching endless strings of videos like this. I'm a 6'3", 240 lb man reduced to a bumbling mess of emotions.

thats sad. dont know how far the 'boonies' are for you but its very important you establish a set visitation time as often as you can (keep a record) for the courts to see you are serious about bonding with your son. also keep a record of the times the mother refused you visitation & reasons. an hour seems ridiculous esp. if you have to travel so i would try to extend that. it may be hard but you have to 'olay nice' with the mother in the meantime to gain more access. also i hope you're paying child support & by check (records) dont give up. kids do need a good father.

This is a great video. The kid's reaction is priceless. I don't know how kids like him hold it together when his Dad is gone so long, and, is in harm's way. Living in a military community, I admire these families. They go through a lot that we do not see. It also makes me appreciate my own father that much more. Thanks to the Dad for his service, and, to the other team for helping him surprise his son in the most incredible way. God Bless them both.

Most people don't realize the sacrifices made by military families. It's not just the service member that we owe a huge amount of gratitude, but the wives who raise the kids and run the household solo, and the kids spend a great part of their lives growing up with a parent at sea, deployed, etc. This kids emotions speak volumes. Thanks to those who serve, and to their families for both supporting them and allowing them to do so.

Justin's reaction to seeing his dad indicates a number of things, his father was present and involved in his son's life, his father truly loves his son and raised him right and taught him what it means to be a man, and it also indicates that Justin will probably be a great father to his own kids when he has them.

Alright first off bitch the CIA didnt rape anyone they interogate people to keep this country safe if i was in there shoes i would do the same thing and we funded them wirh AK's, Pecnegs, and other russian weapons during the late 1970's-1980's so they could fight against the russians that were invading there country and taking their natural resources and they would also kill random civillians for no reason so we supplied them with arms since they were still behind on modern weapons and the only reason they still have those weapons is because they are virtually indestructible so they still have some the AK's that they use against us. If you hate our military members then you can leave this country!
