He is now an angel watching out for his family and brothers in arms from above. May God make his face to shine upon your family. No greater love can a man have than to lay down his life for another. Your brother possessed the greatest love of all. Thank you!😇💚🇺🇸

Right now he's in Korea and it's been really hard but I found out he's coming home soon so he'll be able to come home for Christmas and I can't wait I'm so proud of all these young men and women award the arms forces that I'm with their parents because I know what they're going through and how much they love and miss their sons and daughters

I was a soldier in the German Army and was away from my family for a whole year. Looking back, it was the worst time of my life. Not being there when the children or the wife need you the most. I fulfilled my duty to the homeland and our allies. Now, until the end of my life, there are only my duties to my family. I thank all active soldiers and all veterans of allied forces for their service to their homelands and the alliance. But especially the families of these men and women, who probably have the greatest burden to bear. Stay strong, because freedom is not free.

Back in the mid 80's I was a K9 handler. We had group of German military personnel come to Lackland AFB to observe our methods. When I greeted them I was told to say " ihr Jungs habt süße Ärsche". They all busted out laughing. I was like.....? I turned to my interpreter and he was running out the door.

I also had the privilege of meeting some of the German Veterans as well. I am happy that I was able to spend my first 2 years of active service in Germany quite a beautiful country with equally beautiful people. Made me feel welcomed and damned if you Germans can party. Wine fest season Oktoberfest, Fasching. Thank uou for making me feel at home while I was a guest in your country.

Wonderfully said. As a mother of a son and daughter actively serving in the US military. My heart aches deeper when hearing of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. I recently was blessed to spend time with my son's wife and 2 boys after my son left for field training. My youngest grandchild walked the floors hollering daddy. The void the struggle the absence is real folks. Thank you for your service sir.

Nobody cares you were in the Navy, you were a weapon of war and fought for government politics and power. Good for you. Explain to me how they make sacrifices for their country? By dropping bombs, killing children, killing innocents, destroying lives... I'll never applaud a soldier, they've been nothing but invaders, weapons of kings and governments since before christ. Back in the time of Achilles. If I meet them i'll ask them how killing people from other families and foreigners was.. for a country that turns there back on you as soon as your dismissed or resigned or of no use anymore.. LOL

@@nicholaosskiadas9083 fighting isn't the only way to serve, just because they don't fight doesn't mean they don't sacrifice huge chunks of their lives so that if threats do arise they're ready to fight. These people deploy on 6-12 month periods, sometimes longer. They miss huge family moments and holidays. To us Americans, that sacrifice in itself, let alone fighting and even dying, is the greatest sacrifice one can give. It's not about actually fighting, it's about their commitment to fight when conflict arrives. To say that they will put their life on the line whenever their country may ask them to. These videos brought a lot of tears to my eyes. I don't want to imagine my sons leaving home and knowing that they could not come back. For this, I think all military stuff must have a better life after their services and after putting their lives on risk just to keep us the peace we have today. God bless to all of them and their STRONG families.

That whole "wrapping your legs around them" is a genuine reaction and not at all exclusive to couples. My Mom and oldest sister both fought in Iraq each for 18 months. It was a nightmare not knowing if they would come back alive. My Mom came home first and I was about 12 and my other sister was about 14. I distinctly remember almost tackling her to the ground because I wrapped anything I could around my Mom, including my legs, I hugged her so damn tight she had to walk with me up the stairs. My sister wasnt as lucky because I actually DID tackle her to the ground when she came back 2 months later. Then when she stood up I jumped and wrapped my legs around her lol. A couple of years ago, now being a grown man, my best friend who is in the Navy made a random pop up at my house, hugged the hell outta him til he couldnt breathe.
