Department Store Demolition 1, Arlington

www.pedestrians.org
Demolition of the old Kann's Department Store in the Virginia Square section of Arlington, Virginia. Kann's was located there from 1951 to 1975. In recent years the building has been used by George Mason University.
Demolition was delayed when a major hydraulic hose ruptured. The hose was replaced, absorbent was spread, and demolition resumed.
Produced by John Z Wetmore, producer of "Perils For Pedestrians".

Looks like the operator has done this work before!!!!. That rebar looks close to ripping those hydraulic lines out.

In Germany you pay 1,5 Mio till 8 Mio up to the sitze of the mashine. The Hagedorn Groupe have a 300 t hitachi kmc 1600 with a 60meter Boom, means 180 feet. Look at youtube for the kmc. KMC means Kiesel Multi Carrier, the build cutom from Hitachi.

I'm halfway through this Demo vid, this has to be one of the worst designed buildings I have ever seen, the top floors are all HVAC equipment, it's built like a parking deck with red brick covering every inch, I guess building materials were way cheaper back whenever this hulk of a building was built. This thing almost would have survived an atomic bomb blast.
