Big Excavator Rolls Over in Beverly Hills

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Big Excavator Rolls Over in Beverly Hills. Would you believe this happened right in front of Dr. Phil's $30,000,000 Beverly Hills mansion? We didn't find this out until the end when he drove by, but celebrity and TV star sightings are really common up in these areas. This job came in as a referral and I brought along Alex with me to tackle this difficult job.
We took Hulk, my 50 ton rotator, and Big Flipper, the huge 75 ton rotator, to get the job done based on the initial pictures received. Once we got there, I knew it would be impossible to use two trucks. The incline was much too steep to back up on and two trucks side by side at the bottom was not possible either. We decided to just use Big Flipper solo and got to work immediately.
Step one was to bring the unit close to us so it would be within our boom area. This was done with a 5/8" chain and a Bailey's grommet sling. Once it was within our working area we re-rigged using a Bailey's recovery strap and a different chain for the catch. Quite a few issues came up but nothing compared to my recent crane video. This machine was actually able to be started to retract everything and made the job nice and smooth.
Big Flipper is our strongest rotator and this job really showed the strength and power of what a 75ton rotator can do. Of course the key board warriors will say they could've done this in a flatbed. Makes you wonder why no videos of these 1ton and flatbed warriors doing these type of jobs exist anywhere on the internet though, right? :)

As an equipment operator and equipment owner with a construction company with a few rescues under his belt, in Texas. There are few things I would have done differently in this situation. But I don't think this would have been legal in California. The fact you guys did this without cracking the hydraulic pressure on the cylinders and getting this thing up right is super impressive. Respect where it's due. You guys did a great job.

On the face of it to us laymen this looked an easy peasy job. And when I started watching I thought this isn’t worthy of a KZread video given your usual standards. But wow ! How wrong was I !! What a recovery. Not as simple as it looked. Great work and great team work. Best wishes from the UK 🇬🇧

The only way that bucket will curl in is if someone moves the control lever as if they are operating and curling the bucket, unless you break open the hydraulic lines.

Just asking, doesn't the big SAFETY level on the left side of the seat be in the DOWN position. I thought that was the main control for any function, so the operator is seated. Again does that lever also have to be DOWN to release Hydraulic pressure. Or is that just a safety solenoid control for just starting.

  • @banffdigger

@@rp1645 That lever is just to lockout the pilot controls, older machines it was connected directly to a valve that blocked the pressure from the pilot pump thus not allowing the pilot valves to actuate the main valve bank. Lots of machines will start regardless of the lockout lever position, some newer machines do have the lockout lever tied into the starting circuit.
