You're totally right, although a lot of his other songs are in open tuning
'The other guy' is Fred Nicolaus. They're actually best friends, and he almost certainly wrote this song.
He studied linguistics, psychology, and art history in college.

judging by the chords he is playing, this is standard tuning
Yeah, it's really bad formatting. In my opinion, it should actually just say 'Featuring Chris Taylor and Chris Bear of GB, DOE bring...', since Rossen isn't playing as part of GB here and you don't normally list all the members of a band for a video like this. You're right, though, if they're going to mention everyone else, it's kind of a dick move to snub Nicolaus.
