Denzel Washington Reveals the Aftermath of Will Smith’s Slap at the Oscars to T.D. Jakes

He can always redeem himself we have all fallen short and no one on this planet deserves consistent judgement especially when the individual has taken accountability for the action. You should look into Will Smith being in the Church of Scientology. This runs deeper that what was presented and what we see and Denzel understands that and everyone in Hollywood understands. Will Smith tried to leave the Church of Scientology unannounced, and for that there were consequences. He had to perform a Humiliation Ritual which in turn brought him and Chris humiliation but boosted Chris reputation but tarnished his. Chris understood that. That is the reason why Chris stood there with his arms behind his back smiling and saying "uh oh" as Will charged at him, and the reason he didn't press any charges. Oh and I forgot to mention Chris leaned forward to prepare for the slap. They didn't even cut to commercial brake when Chris got slapped and there were no security guards. Everyone consoled Will because they knew what he had to do and his punishment for trying to leave to Church of Scientology and now his reputation is ruined. Everyone hates Will and everyone loves Chris. Chris knew this. This is how they go down when you sell your soul and try to get out. Think about that. It runs really deep.

So I’m not believing into the story of “ humiliation ritual “. Why would he try to redeem himself at the speech if he had to go through the “ humiliation ritual “ ?

It’s not God that influences us to do wrong things. It’s the devil aka the bad side of us. Yes we are making choices to do bad things but the bad choices are not of God they are of they devil. In order to stay on course we have to not let the devil come in and distract us and take us off our game. @ David it is clear this is Greek to you and you haven't got a grasp of what he was talking about. What he said would fill 7 books if one were to discuss it in full. every word was not wasted: it was genius as well and showed discipline and an ability to not betray confidence/engage in gossip, while keeping a most respected interviewer respectfully in his place:. It was a teaching lesson for us all. He was sharing that each one of us need to be watchful especially if you are a role model, have a lot of powerful positive difference to make in the world, and that just like that, on a big day, probably the biggest day of your life or career etc, you may face the biggest provocation of your life, and the nature of the provocation can be so galling that you may lose it, hence he said'... but for the grace of God...' . He was not exonerating anyone, it is a reminder to meditate, be vigilant, be extra careful, think, develop a system and prep beforehand etc. What he said is many sermons. The devil is not just metaphysical, it represents trouble makers, traps, set ups etc. I ask myself sometimes, that for example, why didn't I leave the room as soon as so and so surfaced etc. That is what he is talking about. Surely the organisers knew W Smith won a prize, would be there etc, but made the presenter Chris whatever his name is. Hindsight is always easier. He is saying the more important our role can positively impact the world, the more we need to anticipate and learn to spot potential booby traps a mile off, and therefore work on ourselves so we don't fall. The situation was provocative, the set up etc, Chris and his body shaming etc such like are metaphorically the devil being on the loose! he did not exonerate Will. Will took responsibility and apologised afterwards. It is shocking that Chris has not been taken to task for his reprehensible comments!

The bigger question, however, might be, when Chris Rock was writing his comedy routine, did he pray first? Did he ask God to guide him & to be with him in his work? Or does he work independent of God? God calls that sin. Sin sets harm in motion. This situation may run deeper than you think, & this is just one example. A shame that Denzel couldn’t call out a shallow disgraceful action just because he’s mates with Smith. It is the people we admire that are able to carry most weight with us and who are brave enough to tell us when we are wrong. The Devil has nothing to do with this. If the Devil came after anyone he came after Chris Rock in the shape of Smith.

I agree about the devil response being ridiculous. But if I were to entertain that, I would argue that Will Smith wasn't at his highest point at all. He was at his lowest. That's why he fell for the Devil's temptations. Yes his career may have been at it's highest point, but he has things going on with his mental health if he uses violence to deal with nonviolent situations.

No the Spirit of the Devil came from Jada when she looked at Will and it Manifested into Will to Go Assault Chris. Chris been doing this type of Comedy Standup all his life. Will can't assault everyone who speaks what he or they perceive to be Negative towards Jada. Look at Social Media talking about both of them now. Nothing he can do about it. In the World of Money this Incident will make them Both Richer when they all come together around the Red Table. You know its gonna happen and you know it to be true!

Will chose to put his hands on someone because he could. It's that simple. He thought he could slap a man In front of the world and nothing would happen. And the world proved him right.

Why can't Denzel say Will did the wrong thing and needs to own up to the consequences? The only one in that scenario who deserved prayer was Chris. He chose to take the high road. That shows power and grace. Will has a lot of internal work to do.

  • @violetlionessspeaks

The high road... 2016 Chris did a whole monologue at the Oscars about Jada humiliating her. Chris was asked multiple times by Will to not talk about Jada, then purposely disregarding the warnings...goes off script (the Jada Joke was not vetted), and addressing her medical condition. I don't think Will handled this in the best way, however, you don't get to throw rocks, hide your hand and it be called the "high road." Own up? Will has publicly apologized and resigned from the Academy. What else do you want, blood?

Jesus talked to a criminal on the cross, at the most significant moment of all of human history, & answered his 'prayer' request, saying, "this day you will be with me in paradise." Clearly, Denzel is trying to be an example of a different way of thinking, to make people stop & think if they really think they know the depth of a situation. Anyone can make a quick easy judgement. Few people ever stop to think about reasons to not do that. You are missing this.

Chris Rock clearly did not take the high road when writing his comic routine. We are meant to do everything in life with God a part of our life, our partner in life, & live by His will & guidance. I doubt he did God's will with that joke.... & it also has consequences. Failure to live by God's high standard, ignoring leading of the Spirit, acting independent of God, is not a high road. Most situations in life are highly complex, with no one judgement to be made... yet people continue on & on doing it.

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." I always thought Denzel was a good man. But he did more than do nothing. Denzel comforted a man who committed a violent crime in front of millions rather than the victim. I don't care how much someone's feelings are hurt, violence is not the answer. The joke was benign, there's nothing insulting about being compared to GI Jane, a strong, beautiful and resilient woman. But some people are reading more into it than it was.
