Demo: How to Mix Your Own No-Name Colors
Hi everyone. Today I'm talking about one of my favorite subjects, color. It can bring so much personality to your paintings, but with so many paints to choose from it can be a bit overwhelming. Which ones should you buy?
In this video I'm going to demonstrate how I create what I call "no-name colors". And, using just three paints, I'll show you how you can mix colors of your own.
Share your favorite no-name colors with me in the comments and let me know how many you were able to come up with. Until then, create brilliantly.
Hugs,
Gwen

Just found you yesterday Gwen..you are such a breathe of fresh air with your teaching and generous sharing. Thankyou. I don’t have the flow paints just tubes but I am going to experiment with them to see what I can achieve. Have a fab day.
Having started my art journey on retirement I have spent the last year watching (and paying) for dozens of tutorials. I have just stumbled across your channel by chance and honestly I have learned more in just 3 of your classes than all the others combined. I’m looking forward to working through them all. Thank you SO much for sharing your knowledge here and always making it interesting and exciting too. I’m a fan!

Love this!
Very interesting
Hello Gwen I’m really enjoying watching your art lessons. I don’t have any of the colours you used but I’ve got lots of other colours to experiment with. And will just use three at a time. I noticed your acrylics stayed beautifully moist and creamy. Did you add something to them? I love your way of teaching. Many thanks.❤
I love that you allow black... I just hate it when artist's say "I never use black".. I think that's just foolish... black is beautiful
Love your videos very easy to understand.

I got the emerald color by mixing the gold with the thalo turqoise......
Do you always use these 3 colors. I like your demos so much.
These colors are my favorites in acrylic as well! Nickel azo gold is so luscious! I’ve been on the hunt for an equivalent in oil. Any suggestions? I love Indian yellow as a base and mix from there but would love to know if you have a go-to. Thanks Gwen!
What an awesome class, thank you so much.can you tell me what brand you are using for the three colours please, I normally use tubes, but yours seem to flow beautifully

Kirsti....I use black and white gesso with acrylics and Ivory black and Titanium White for oils
Thank you very much for your helpful videos, but I want to ask what color we can replace with azo gold because it is not available in our area.

That is a good question. I would call Golden Paints....they are wonderful and share their knowledge freely.....and ask that very question. Let me know what they say.
What brands have that yellow please Gwen....in acrylics? Which colours can you buy which are transparent?
@GwenFoxArtist

Ali Baba....i bet I was talking about Nickle Azo Gold for the yellow. There are many transparent colors but to make it simple anything that has the word "Quinacridone" before the name of the color is transparent. This is in all watercolors, acrylics and oils.
