I definitely agree that the “Frankenstein version” of titanus was a big pass for me. I never understood why they did it (I know obviously for money reasons ).

It was to debuted in countdown of destruction part 3.in which was also to unveil the phantom ranger too. With show constraints with money they countdown the 3rd part entirely and reduced the story to countdown to destruction to part 1 and 2.

I forgot about the Mega Winger for the longest time until I started rediscovering Power Rangers.

Many toys were lost or thrown away over the years but mum knew never to get rid of the rangers 👌

Even with the toys breaking very easy, the In Space toyline is still up there as one of my favs. It took parts of previous seasons from you Ultrazords, 2nd main Megazord, automorphic zords, mix them and went out with a bang. My guess is Silver Titanus was likely bought in at the last min to boost toy sales, as Turbo undersold (note Rescue Megazord's were being repacked in Space boxes to get rid of the dead stock Bandai had) and over in Japan, In Space's counterpart Megaranger had strong TV ratings but poor toy sales (likely due to no Ultrazord/carrierzord). Thankfully In Space was a massive hit in TV ratings/toy sales and without it, Power Rangers might not even be here today.

The ability to stand is megawingers biggest design flaw. The chrome on the bottom of the feet should of been diecast and should of borrowed design ideas from the red turbo rescue zord from the year before. Having the feet pull out giving it a little bit more stability along with the diecast balancing out the weight.

Titanus was my favorite zord as a kid, but my family couldn't afford stuff like that while it was still on the shelves. By the time Silver Titanus came around, we were doing better, and I finally got a version of Titanus to play with. Because of that, I really do love it still. It didn't have electronics, and it was basically the same mold as the original, all true-- but to someone who never had the original to compare it with, none of that mattered, and some of the things that made the original great-- the overall design, the rolling, the ability to turn any zord into a real powered up UltraZord-- were all still there. In the end though, it was just as you say, in this case, quite literally-- a poor man's titanus

Here’s a quick tip for fixing the yellowed plastic: (Utilities needed: A big enough container w/ a lid Aluminum foil Tape Ultraviolet led strips Hydrogen Peroxide (a lot of it; don’t worry, it’s cheap)) Securely wrap aluminum foil around the container and lid Secure the led strips facing the bottom of the container Place toys, and fill with peroxide Leave with the lights on over night And BAM! No more yellow plastic Side note: Hydrogen Peroxide is basically water with an extra hydrogen atom, so you may want to buy replacement stickers

to fix the megawinger wing's connection problem put a tiny dab of super glue on the pegs and leave them to dry before re attaching the wing this will make the friction stronger and it will clip on better this technique is also good for tightening up loose joints on figures like the mega voyager left arm just put a tiny dab of super glue into the joint itself and spin it around until it dries and it will not be so loose

I’m alone in this but I actually think Titanus looks quite good. I like the fact that it’s obviously based on the Bracio’ but that it’s needed to be modified / upgraded to accommodate the space Zords. It certainly sits better with me than the random combination of the NMFZ plonked into a dinosaur themed Zord.

The silver titanus was orginally going to be the Phantom Rangers zord. That his identity was going to reveal him to be Zordon's son. But because it didnt come out well they use it. Those plans were changed and the zord was shelved. Would be interesting if they revisit this in the boom comics

The Silver Titanus could have been a prototype that Ninjor scrapped and Zordon asked if he could have it for the Phantom Ranger.

@@Knight41b nether was tor the carrier zord. They just haven't been seen sence before Zeo. Dragon zord was never dystored ether but is still in the ocean. By salvage I meant more in the terms of abandoning it. But it could be Phantom got his hands on titanus plans and built the silver titanus to help out the space rangers. We do know Phantom can build zords since he gave the rangers the rescue zords and the carrier. But I could be wrong.

wonder how saban would've used Silver Titanus in the show (if they even planned to)? not like we didn't have PR exclusive Ultrazords before (Shogun Ultrazord/Ninja Ultrazord anyone?).

Always great to see a new installment in your zord series. Great video. As a kid, I didn’t start getting into PR until Lightspeed Rescue so getting to see a nice analysis on these older ones is a lot of fun

I’ve always loved the Mega Winger - I don’t really know why. Zhane is awesome - though I also wish it were more silver as well. I’ve never owned Silver Titanus but I have a morbid curiosity and I’m a completionist so I’ll get one eventually. He’s such a disaster and I really think that’s what’s driving me to get him. 🤣 Also, Ryan, your voice is so chill and relaxing. I could listen to you read a phone book and it would probably cure my insomnia. Sorry if that’s weird. 😂😝

As far as the observation about Plex designing Silver Titanus goes, that doesn't mean it was intended for the Japanese market. Plex designs most or all of the suits and mecha for both Sentai and Power Rangers. The concept art of the Dinozords combined with the Tigerzord is from them and we know that was never going to be a Japanese thing. Bandai of America commissioned them to make a new carrier of some sort for Space and that was what they came up with. Plex also designed the PR original suits in every show that had them, including battlizers and new rangers and forms.

Yes this is what I found so surprising. This whole time I assumed things like silver titanus and titanium ranger and the cockpit modes were just Bandai America trying to crank out more toys. I didn't realise they were still being designed by the same actual design company that the main Sentai stuff would come from. It makes more sense now!

I remember the first time seeing the Mega Winger. It was actually the finale of Power Rangers in Space. I always laughed at how the Mega Winger would just kind of bump the enemy aircraft with his hand which would explode into nothing. I was sad when it was defeated however.

I had every single zord (including carriers, serpentera, battleborgs, ninjor, auric, warrior wheel) from mmpr to in space, but silver titanus eluded me and I never seen it then. I found out about this one a few years ago when I started recollecting power rangers and my obvious reaction was "wtf?" Lol. I had assumed bandai america had an overstock of titanus in the warehouse and needed to get them out of inventory asap, so they put some geniuses together to figure this one out. Im not hating on it, I think it would've been cool had they executed it right on the show that's if they did that at all, but I still feel I was a completionist since I had all that appeared on the show.

From what i've heard on the plex/bandai jp side of things is that if something gimmick wise sells well it continues until it doesn't, IE Titanus/king brachion, they try again with Daimugen/TOR and it fails with sales compared to the rest of the dairanger line etc, But the Trend of The additional mecha like wontiger/tigerzord combining with the main mecha continues into kakuranger with Tsubasamaru/falcon zord but since Daimugen/tor sold worse there's no carrier that year. Continues into Ohranger where Kaku lacked a big mecha bandai tries with king pyramider/pyramidas, Bandai also see's that humanoid combining mecha sell well with muteki shogun and during ohranger release Ohblocker/super zeo zords which does the same, Ninjaman in kakuranger sold okay so they try with gun majin/ auric the conqueror and it fails, but tackle boy/robo wheel sells well. This culminates to Carranger where because tackle boy sold well, they make another mini robo as Sirender, with King pyramider selling well they make Victrailer but combine the elements of Red Puncher/red battlezord and pyramider together. Ohblocker/Super zeo megazord sold amazingly so they make VRV robo. Bandai then Tries in Megaranger to do the formula again but axe what didn't sell well, Carrier mecha. So they now have a proven formula, Main mecha, "Galaxy Mega" Additional mecha that combines with main mecha "Delta Mega" A mecha that is simple like tackle boy/warrior wheel but also fills in the role of the carrier providing an upgrade to the Final Super mecha "Winger" and Super Mecha "Voyager" This trend continues but is halted by experimentation with gingaman for one year but then goes back to status quo with GoGoV Until Timeranger experiments with only the idea of a Playset and 3 robo's and loses so much money it makes bandai Rethink and brings in the Gaoranger Aux systems. These two trends become the bread and butter for the next 15 years and alternate depending on sales.

I think 1993 They made more of the toys than they could sell. The re-released it in 1995 for the Ninja and ShoginZords. And this this monstrosity Just smacks of desperation to get rid of them.

Silver Titanus confuses me because I don't understand why they wouldn't just use something like the Artillatron again, given that they's space vehicles they could have just retooled him to look like a space crawler.

Yeah good point. I guess they would have to structurally change Artillatron too much as there's no way mega v3 could get in there if they used those Zords. Astro or Delta ships wouldn't fit either. Titanus became the jack of all trades carrier.

I paid $40 for silver titanus, thankfully I did because I liked it.

Thanks man it's great to hear that. No plans to get Hasbro zeo megazord, but I believe it’s 12 inches tall and therefore even slightly bigger than the legacy thunder megazord!
