Della Portable Mini Washing Machine Complete Review (Amazon Link in description)

Ғылым және технология

This washer is about $145.00 on Amazon, if its out of stock I put comparable models in links below.
This is my thumbs up review of the DELLA Portable Mini Compact Twin Tub Washing Machine Washer Spin Dryer Cycle (9KG) 048-gm-48216 with BUILT-IN PUMP. and no its not sponsored I just like to help bring to light great affordable and obscure products. this washing machine is perfect for apartments or any tight places that dont have washer hook ups. it is a fully manual washer though meaning you have to add and turn off water yourself as well as transfer clothes from the wash section to the spinner and back again for rinsing. the washer is in my opinion washes the clothes with a similar agitation strength to a normal home washer. let me not forget though the spinner spins out 90 percent of the water it will not be dry enough to wear but hanging it dry will only take several hrs for light items. towels and jeans will take longer.

    I bought this machine because of your review and I'm madly in love with it! My husband despises the spin cycle, but I just hang the clothes and throw on the heating lamp/space heater and come back to dry clothes in a few hours. It's not that big of a deal. This thorough review was EXACTLY what I needed, when I needed it, and I cannot thank you enough! You answered every single question I had, and then some. ❤️ I also dig your lighting and background set-up. Obviously, a lot of thought goes into your videos and it's appreciated. Wonderful job all around!

    Hello I really appreciate that. Your comment warms my heart because you don't know how many takes I had to shoot to get it right each time and make sure everything was in focus and that my microphone was at the right level. That's so funny what you said about your husband, I feel the same way as you do oh, I recently moved into a duplex that has a normal washer and dryer and I feel sad when I look at my Della washer in the shed not being used and how helpful it was. What kind of place do you live that makes this helpful and which room do you use the bathroom or kitchen?

    I recently moved from FL to CA to go to grad school for producing (which is why I'm now a subscriber to your channel and have added half your reviews to my Amazon cart) and I didn't know you COULD have a washer in an apartment (without hook ups) until I was out here scouting for a place to live. I stayed at an AirBnb and the lady had a full sized washer hooked up to her kitchen sink with tubes for water and draining. As soon as I got a place in a good area (had to settle for no washer/dryers, because a 600sqft apartment goes for $2000 a month and I had to pick my battles. A good school for the kid was more important) I knew I had to MacGyver something similar to her set-up to save some money every month, but I was worried about pipes and leaking hoses. The last thing I needed was to mess up my new place while trying to save a buck, and I stumbled upon portable washers for apartments. 🤯 Who knew?! I could have BEEN saving money for the last... 10 years of apartment laundry rooms. 🤮 Makes me sick when I think of all that cash I flushed away. (Although, who knows, I bet these babies were ridiculously expensive and prone to breaking back then, so I might have lucked out by being clueless). Anywho, I use mine in the bathroom. Set it in the back shower stall and run an extension cord from the wall, over the shower door (to avoid possible death), and wrap the whole plug with a plastic bag in case the shower hose goes for a samba while I'm swapping/rinsing/reloading clothes. Also, you were right about the detergent. Lol. There's a learning curve but, by the end of day 1, you get it figured out. I did find that tucking the top layer of clothes around the sides of the bottom clothes keeps them from rising up and being unbalanced (like the top layer of a pie, but instead of pinching down and out with a fork, you push down and in to lock in the layers of clothes). Now, I never have to worry about it sounding like a horse is loose in the bathroom. 😍 I'm buying one for my mom for Mother's Day, one for my brother for his birthday, and a dozen for my family in Romania- one at a time of course, because #StudentLife

    @@Raychristofer Also, have you considered donating your Della to a shelter or local homeless organization? Now that you're living in a wonderful duplex (Congratulations by the way. That's phenomenal!), you can pass off your washer to someone in need. Lol, or donate it to a college dorm 😂 #EternallyGrateful #FreeInterns?

    @@boomsoupmfaproducing9901 that is definitely something to consider. I almost don't want to get rid of it but I actually put it up for sale on Craigslist yesterday. KZread take so much time sometimes if companies send me gear and I'm finished I will sell it to recoup. Della didn't send me this washer but they actually after seeing this video allowed me to choose anything from their catalog and they sent me a portable air conditioner which I reviewed less than a week ago. That video is nowhere near as popular as this one though

    People who get one of these portable washing machines (no matter the size or brand) always say their one regret is not getting one sooner. I think that's just proof how good these machines are. I think your video is the most informative for these machines. You did a great job covering everything, including mentioning not using a lot of detergent. I've seen some people think there's something wrong with the machine when to suds won't drain, not realizing it's just they don't need as much detergent. So that actually makes these even more economical.

    I have this washer! I actually just finished doing laundry with it. Apparently I got mine only 4 months before you did and she's still going strong. I'm so glad to have found my Della, it's exactly what I need. I live in a small apartment, and there were just a few things about my experience with this washer I thought might be helpful for others: Lint catchers. I have 3 of the floating ones, a net at the end of the drain hose and another in the bathtub drain. These are necessary for me, since I have long hair and two cats who shed a great deal. My bathroom is too small to keep the Della in when I'm not doing laundry, so I have it on a furniture dolly and I just roll it in there when it's time to do laundry. I also put a rug under the wheels trying to muffle the sound, since I have downstairs neighbors. Even with the rug, it makes enough noise that I never do laundry before noon. Be sure to snap out clothing before you hang it up; snapping it out helps IMMENSELY with wrinkles. As a backup for if/ when anything breaks on the Della, I also got a Breathing Mobile Washer from Amazon (as per one reviewer's suggestion, I discarded the short handle that came with it and instead attached one from the Quickie Cobweb Duster, which has an adjustable height so you won't strain your back). It works surprisingly well! To replicate the spin dry I ordered a 5 gallon salad spinner; I'm waiting on that to come in. I love my Della and am so dependent on it that now I'm not willing to go without ever again.

    I bought this washer years ago for my son. He used it for about 1 year and decided to use the apartment complex's washer/dryer, so it went into storage. Fast forward to yesterday, when I started having a problem with the spin cycle of my Maytag Bravos 400 series washer. We got the Della washer out of storage and I cleaned it up. I searched the internet for a video on how to operate it and I found your video. I'm using the washer only for the spin cycle. This is a good washer, great design!

I'm going to tell you something that happened to me with my washer, last week I turned on the pump to let out the dirty water and I went inside to do something and forgot the pump on it ran for about an hour and a half, when I finally remembered the pump had burned out. Fortunately there's a valve that opens a gravity drain so you can still drain it without the pump. The beautiful thing is I put in my warranty number on the Assurant website and in less than half hour they gave me an Amazon credit for the full amount of the washer. I highly recommend getting that warranty and remembering not to leave the pump running LOL.

    I bought this machine and the washer never agitated..I opened up the back and the belt was off the pulley..I noticed that the belt to was pulling upwards causing it to slip off. I adjusted the hex nut to bring down the top pulley and put the belt back on..it worked when I turned it on with nothing in it..I added water and a small sheet and nothing happened when I turned it on..my husband seems to think that the weight of the water caused the belt to slip back off...any suggestions on how to fix this problem..it was like this brand new out of the box.

    Raychristofer + The only one I could find was gray and it cost me $160 plus tax. But it is worth every penny. I am able to hook the hose up to my kitchen sink. However, before I could even plug it in I had to get a quality extension cord because the electrical cord was far too short to plug into my kitchen. My clothes have benefitted from the ability this machine has to deep clean. The problem is that the clothes tend to get tangled together. Now, I only use the gentle cycle and I will put my pants or tops into a mess bags. The jury is out at to whether or not it works. So, how are you coming on a dryer and/or the ultimate rack on which to dry clothes? (You ought to start a review channel!)

    Raychristopher, excellent review of the Della portable washer. Get yourself a couple of Hesong flower lint catchers at Amazon, you will eventually see lint on the clothes especially if you don't use a heat dryer which filters lint. Be cautious, lint from the machine may be going through the hose into your toilet leading to plumbing problems. Attach an old sock to the end of the water outlet hose to catch lint. Happy laundry days. An informative, fun video review. 😇

What really bothers me is shouldn't the rent closet up the exhaust pump? I think that may be the weak point in this entire washer and when I open the back it looks like a proprietary pump that you can't just find at Home Depot. The sock idea I do remember seeing I'll try it. Yes I tried to shoot and edit this video to be as informative and entertaining as a washing machine review could be lol

    Raychristopher, thank you. I enjoy watching I formative videos (now attempting to learn how to caulk gaps around window frame, winter is on the way). I have a PANDA single tub mini washer and the Nina Soft Spin dryer from Laundry Alternative, also known as an extractor in olden days. Laundry can be fun when using these convenience machines.

    Wow while living in Shanghai I had to use a similar machine. It drove me crazy! I would go away and forgot to put it in spin clothes were soaking wet. In China most bathrooms have a drain in the floor so gravity drain isn't the problem.

    Hello Harry how are you? Thank you and that is important what you mentioned because I get many questions asking why don't I just attach the water hose to the spinner section and I always mention that the water will strike the top mostly and it spins so fast that none of that water would reach the bottom. There's nothing worse than picking up your dried clothes only to smell dirty water still in them. Good looking out. I'm trying to remember what video comments I spoke to you in before

    I do pretty much what you do, but with one extra step. When I am done with the washer, I add clean water in the machine without clothes and run the agitator for about a minute as it's draining. That cleans out the tub of any dirt or lint that remains inside. I also have to fill my machine with a 5 gallon bucket because the hoses I got with it won't fit my faucets. But it does the job.

    Hello moon I really appreciate that feedback comment, and the joke is you are correct and that is something that I do that I forgot to mention rinsing out the tub in the end, the video wound up being so long that I didn't want to include any other segments for fear people wouldn't want to watch to the end. After having it and using it one thing that bothers me is sometimes when a lot of dirty clothes pile up I don't have enough place to hang them and in those cases my wife chooses to just bring them all to the laundromat which defeats the purpose so realistically I probably should be washing a load every other day and drying them on the rack before it gets out of hand.

  • @moonport1

    Yeah, these machines are good for 1 or 2 people who keep on top of their laundry and not let it pile up. And since it is just me and Wilma, who likes to walk around the house naked, I find that doing laundry for just myself easy to manage and takes less than an hour. (Wilma is my cat BTW, she doesn't need clothes. LOL)

    these are cute and pretty cool. I wish they had these back when I was traveling for work camping in between locations. this wouldve been really useful but at that time I didn't have a car or a car inverter or converter which wouldve been required to use it by converting 12vdc to 120ac. I just found out about these cuz my brother jist bought one from one of his friends but it was a single washing machine no dryer. we tested it and I was surprised how well it worked. but the problem is when he filled up it and ran it. it was trying to drain the water out while its running on gentle or normal cycle. he had to plug the hose to stop it from draining.

    Much appreciated your clear speaking and informative comments on this product. Great job. I am doing a bit of research on mini washers as I now live in an apartment and reg. sized washers are not allowed. Still undecided on brand but leaning toward this Della due to the drain pump but a bit concerned about spinner failure. I have physical disabilities and going up and down 2 flights of stairs to the laundry room here is hard at times. I also owned my own home for over 30 years and the whole idea of "community" washers and dryers makes me uncomfortable for sanitary reasons. I do realize larger items will still need to go to the laundry room but a product like this would help so much. I am wondering if you know the weight of this Della and if there are handles or grippers on the side for me to get it in and out of the bathtub? Thanks again!

    Amazing! I cant help but notice theres space to modify the top part of the spinner where someone could install a blow dryer or a forced air some how to get the clothes dryer faster.

  • @Raychristofer

    @Raychristofer

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hello Sean you're a tinkerer I see. The problem with that is it's not tumbling the clothes so if you do blow hot air in there the ones up against the wall would not get aerated as the one in the middle. There's also a brake attached so when you open the dryer door it stops the motor, you would have to disconnect that also. And now that we think of it it's all plastic and the dryer needs a way to vent the moist air and this doesn't have that. Yes after all of that critical thinking it probably wouldn't work well. You sound like me though I'm always thinking of ways to make things better

    It just seems to me that if you hand the clothes that you took out of the washer and put them into the spin that all you need to do is add water into the spin and not go back and forth again into the washer part of the machine you could easily eliminate that extra move yes

  • @Raychristofer

    @Raychristofer

    5 жыл бұрын

    You could do that but it would not be an effective rinse there would be much dirty soapy water still left. The way the water streams into the spinner it Only Hits one particular location and and the Spinners spin so fast you would have some clothes especially at the bottom still with dirty water still in them. In the beginning I have tried avoiding spinning out the dirty water I'm going straight to the rinse cycle and there was a lot of dirty water still in the clothes that mixed in with the freshwater and it wasn't good. You could do whatever you want but you will notice if you do it your way the clothes will still have that strong detergent smell in it
