I've had a cooling pad since day one, because my last laptop overheat quite a bit, too. I also used an air blower to remove any dust off the fans, to no avail. I'm sending it to warranty, to hell with it. Thank you for posting this video, anyway; it helped me remove some stuff that helped me get to the fan.

I have done this exact same thing. No need to fret. I would try taking a screwdriver that fits, sort of, and put the screwdriver at an angle and add a little pressure, than quickly attempt to turn the screw off. This may or may not work. You could also try using an allen wrench or even a hex screwdriver. Best of luck!! Just make sure you apply enough pressure (don't break it) but enough to turn the screw and turn it quick. Thanks for watching and please subscribe!!!

@Ramzez51 The graphics card on the standard non-upgraded model is on the motherboard itself. The easiest way to replace this would be to replace the motherboard altogether with an upgrade graphics card. You'll find that this is pretty standard on most basic laptop models.

I upgraded my Acer Timeline X with the same processor as this Dell to 8GB of ram...and it did give it a nice little boost. Nothing to write home about, but fair. The thing is, with these Intel HD/3000 series graphics on newer laptops, they suck on the RAM a little bit. Don't mean to cut in on your action there ITConflict...I had to use this video to upgrade my friend's N5110 to 7200. All the goodies on here and they give you a 5400 to churn it with. Feh.

Yes, this lever should snap up. If it doesn't, try pulling the little notch-like tabs on the sides of the cable out. Be gentle when working with this cable and or plastics involved. When they break, it is VERY difficult to get them plugged-in and sitting just right again.

Hi! What tools do I need to open it up? I'm looking for a tool set that will do the whole job. Also, I spilled water on my keyboard and it seems to have clogged one of the keys, which makes my laptop beep on startup, anyway to fix this? to be gentle, get a plastic pry tool - they're an essential part of a phone repairer's toolkit and it's perfect for something with as many small steps as this - i'd say this is an 8/10 for difficulty.

Hey man, really great work with the laptop, I came by your video when I was searching for a solution for a problem that I've had with my laptop for one time, during some heavy hardware consuming game, the laptop suddenly hibernated, obviously it became heated so it hibernated, what I know is that is a bad sign that the cooling system isn't any longer performing like past, I've had the same with my old HP laptop and ended up hibernating like daily, so how would I prevent this to happen my laptop?

Hi, that all depends on what you want to accomplish. For instance, if you have 2 ram slots and you currently have (1) 2GB stick in slot A and nothing in slot B than you would be adding ram. If you wanted to jump to 8GB of RAM, you would be replacing all RAM with new 4GB sticks. I hope that answers your question. Best of luck! I appreciate your support. I have a Dell Inspiron N5110 and I did this a couple of days ago to swap out the hdd for an ssd and do a ram upgrade to 8G and it works fine now. I did exactly what you show in the video. I opened the RAM bay and then removed the 11 screws from the base. After that I turned the laptop over and continued doing the exact same thing as you... the next day and thinking about that I wondered myself... why did I take off the eleven screws from the base? What did I get doing that? . I think there's no reason to do it. You just hace to take off the keyboard, unplug it from the next base, and remove the 5 screws that support the motherboard and that's all. Maybe I'm wrong but I still dont understand why I had to remove the 11 screws from the base. Anyway, thanks tyo video tutorials like yours I was able to upgrade my laptop. Thanks.

Well, to clean the system fan / processor fan can be done by not having to dismantle the system. If you turn the laptop over with the bottom-side up, you should see an air intake and exhaust vents. Use a compressed can of air and blow air into these vents. You will here the fan spin and begin to see dust fly out. This should be easier for you. Thanks for watching!! Show your support and please subscribe!!

If you look at the video at 10:00 the graphics card is located near the bottom left. The fan is top left, processor just under/nearby and graphics card below the processor. Typically, the hard drive isn't really a hot component. Most likely, the heat you are generating is a combination of the processor and graphics card alone. Try blowing out the fan. Also, you could apply new thermal paste. Thanks for watching and please SUBSCRIBE!!!!

Some models are different to be honest. The best way to tell if your model is upgradeable is to get into the guts of the system. I will say though, if it is upgradeable there are other easier upgrades I would try first. If speed is what you want, try more RAM. Max it out if you can and your system supports it. Overheating already? A few things to remember are whenever putting your computer through heavy use keep it on a flat surface. This helps with air flow. Also, try putting some compressed air into the air vents to blow out any obstruction. You might also want to consider purchasing a laptop cooling pad. These are amazing at keeping hot laptops cool especially when gaming. Thanks for watching!! Please show your support and subscribe!!!
