The right hinge was broken on my N5110. I wanted to reuse as much HW as possible. Hence, this video is a cool guide for a whole disassembly of the notebook. Thanks a lot.

Saved me a lot of headache on this. Mine wouldn't boot past the BIOS screen so I was going to just pull the disk out and put it in my disk toaster to read instead. Well, in part with the teardown I forgot to open the CD bay, so when I powered it on with the battery out it fired up with no issue. 4 years of content, saved now.

I was just thinking of swapping the hdd of the same model notebook ... Wow! I'll just go to the service shop .. btw, I'm dealing with PCs for the last 20 years and I've never seen design like this one ... Anyway, very good video! Thank you!

The designers of the N5110 are pranksters, and wanted to surprise everyone that was trying to do a quick hard drive upgrade. I send them some "happy thoughts" on every SSD upgrade of these laptops.

oh yeah, when i opened it up for the first time, it was HELL. i was worried I broke something because I heard a loud pop. Turns out it was the display cable.

@@discopotato4673 i didnt. However i was in need of a cheap laptop (my budget) so it looked ok for my money a used one. But yes all the time i look at how i can improve exchange anything on it. If hard like this one better not buy. I managet to put hands on a t902 fujitsu. For 200euro almost like new

Still useful in 2021. Wanted to yank the hdd out of my old laptop buried in the garage for about 6 years!

This is an excellent video, helped me take apart my n5110 but I don’t know what the problem with mine is, the lcd will not turn on but the computer will. At one point it was doing the 2 beep error sound but after disassembling and reassembling the computer it is in the same state that it was in. I had some water spill & it got inside the computer earlier today but I cleaned all of it out and now its just kaput. Is my information still obtainable if I remove the hard drive or is it lost forever?

Can't agree with you more. Had to replace the HDD in one of these Dell N5110 laptops. It's not difficult but it's very annoying. Most laptops involve only one or two screws to be removed in order to replace the HDD.
