What Xavier Smith said wouldn't even have been that bad. Dude just wanted some more compassion when kids are getting their lifelong dreams crushed. From how the Sanders responded to something so innocuous, they made Xavier's point way louder for him.

To me, it even seemed like constructive criticism. But certain people simply can't dismiss criticism. American football is a tough business and even in the NFL players are cut or released. Nevertheless, this can be done in a friendly way and you can be treated like a human being, or you can simply be treated like a pawn on a chessboard.

Xavier Smith didn't even say something bad. It's pretty obvious that Deion is treating his college players like pro and doesn't care that he is dealing with very young adults. But we all knew that. Shadeur should just shut up, it's not a good luck for the QB, who happens to be the son of the HC, to come out and attack a former teammate while simultaneously admitting that he doesn't know or care about players in the middle of the roster. I am sure NFL scouts will be excited about this trait of character.

I can’t defend the Sanders kid’s comments.. young, silly and too cocky for winning 4 games last year lol.. but “kid being honest” and doing a tell-all with a magazine because your feelings got hurt isn’t really the move either.. that’s not the toughness needed for a team looking to go from worst to first.. Whole thing needs some refinement..

@youngwashrag .. oh I’m sure you’re right.. but he probably said yes to it out of frustration and having his feelings hurt by the process.. he’s a kid, so I won’t go too hard on him.. but, by the few words and actions I’ve seen (just this video), I can also see why he might not have been what Deion was looking for.. and as much as Shedur’s comments might hurt him for a top draft pick.. this kid punted on the NFL altogether with that interview.. And for the record, I think both Sanders’ responses weren’t a good look..
