DEHYDRATE CARROTS Using A Dehydrator / Dehydrating Carrot / Dehydrated

How to dehydrate Carrots using a dehydrator.
Dehydrating Carrot is a good way to preserve some Carrots for Winter cooking.
We can grow and buy Carrots all year round in Australia, so it is not the first dehydrating project on the list, however if you have an abundance of Carrots, including fermented Carrots, then you may want to dehydrate some for later use.
DEHYDRATING CARROTS PROCESS
Wash Carrots, discard top and slice into 4mm pieces / over 1/8 inch
Blanche Sliced or Diced Carrot for 2 minutes in boiling water
Julienne 1 minute and Grated doesn't need blanching
Place carrot on dehydrator trays in a single layer with room for air circulation
Dehydrating Carrots Temperature - 50C / 125F
Dehydrating Carrots Time - up to 15 hours (Guide Only)
Carrots are dehydrated when shrunken up, leathery and no moisture inside.
REHYDRATING CARROTS
Sliced or Diced - 1 hour cooking
Julienned or Grated - 30 minutes cooking

Welcome to Moat Cottage Homesteading, I'm Elissa and here at Moat Cottage, we raise and grow and process some of our own free range meat, organic vegetables and fruit. We grow all of our herbs for both eating and medicinal purposes as well as hunt, fish and forage. We preserve our produce for the year ahead by canning, dehydrating, fermenting and freezing and we work on being prepared for emergency situations. We don't like plastic, chemicals and artificial fragrances and are trying to live an older style life, balanced with this modern world lifestyle.
