As someone who has spent her life around horses it just makes me so angry to see a horse in this condition. If you can’t look after an animal ask for help or give it away to someone who can look after it. You don’t just leave it to wither away. I’m so glad to see this horse was rescued in time.

Same here. We have had a stables for over 60 years and no horse here has ever got that bad. No where near. Some humans are so awful. I am glad to be childfree so I won't risk having any bad humans

OH my GOD, how could any HUMAN do this to a beautiful horse? they should be charged with ABUSE and imprisoned. Our GREAT President Trump signed into office in 2019 that it is a FLELONY to abuse, hurt or kill a pet or animal. I HOPE these scums were charged. I’ve said this elsewhere, but it bears repeating. I’m a person that has been afraid of horses all my life (I’m 52), but my wife LOVES horses and has wanted one all her life. Long story short, she acquired and elderly rescue horse that was every bit as skinny as this poor fella. The day we got him, I went with her to help unload him where we are boarding him with a friend of hers. It had been a long day of traveling and visiting their farrier, so the poor old fella was plain tuckered out. They needed to check him over, so I plucked up my courage as best as I could, overcame my fear and held his lead rope while they were looking him over and cleaning him up. I don’t know what he sensed, but he laid his head on my chest like it was the first kindness he’d felt in a very long time and damned if that horse didn’t worm his way into my heart on the spot. Despite my fear, I couldn’t help but love on him and reassure him we were going to take care of him and he was going to be OK. Fast forward 8 months, and we’ve got him filled out as far as the vet and our boarder thinks we should take him for his 28 year old frame. He’s looking so good now, the people whom we acquired him from who had initially rescued him did not even recognize him until we were talking to them about him at a local gathering. That horse awakened something in me I didn’t even know was there, he has changed my life. He may not have many years left, but I am determined they will be happy ones, and I now know that is what I want to do the rest of my life. Even if I can only care for one horse at a time, I will be caring for horses that desperately need to be rescued for the rest of my days.

@@emmabovary1228 He has his days where he’s in a bad mood, I suspect he was abused as well as malnourished, but he is a gift. I never expected to ever get near a horse, let alone care for one. He knows I have apple bake treats in my shirt pocket 😆 My wife can’t stop smiling when she’s with him, she adores him.

How a person treats an animal reveals whats really in their heart. I'm so thankful rescue missions like this exist with folks who do it for the love of animals. Watching Dasher run for the 1st time gave me goosebumps. ❤

whoever did this to him needs to be prosecuted and kept away from animals. i have a horse myself. i hate seeing them neglected like this, it's heartbreaking. the rescuers are amazing and look at the results.

@@gregdickerson9381 As much as I understand that impulse I'm not sure it'd help anything much. All I meant is that with all that goes on in the world, with people doing horrific unprovoked things to other people right now all over the planet, is it any wonder people do such things to animals? They are far more defenseless. Also, humans have full consciousness and will realise and understand the cruelty in all its maliciousness. The poor horse wants to not feel pain, hunger or thirst, and get some affection whether from animal or human. Their understanding of cruelty is very different. Both truly awful of course but consciousness adds a different layer. And if humans are prepared to hurt each other knowing the deep lifelong psychic trauma that they can cause each other... well I'm not at all surprised or heartbroken (very sadly) that people are cruel or utterly negligent to animals. I'm not saying it doesn't have an impact on an animal's mental well-being, but animals often live in the moment. Very different to us. So yea, not disagreeing with your sentiment at all, just saying there are people so rotten out there, I'm past being surprised, or heartbroken.

@@ithulah Most certainly the horrors of the current situations happening around our globe from the genocide in Ukraine by Putin's orders to the rural Texas school and all the in-between tragedies is overwhelming to say the least. I by no means diminish these crimes committed. But a little sympathy for a horse being starved to death may not exactly " help" it's situation but doesn't hurt it either. Live long and prosper Alyssa.🙂

As soon as he found he was loved, his will to live returned. He is so happy, running in the field!

I LOVE this video SO MUCH!!!!! We gave our old horse (my baby) to a therapeutic riding program. A year later since I'd lived so far away (it was when my parents divorced and sold the house and I was the main rider who had to leave home because I was going to college). I had to look for her and no people were around. It was all run down and I didn't see any horses. My horse was a 16h palomino so she wasn't east to miss. But with her huge head a pony sized ears and Disney black eyes I could have spotted her miles away in a giant herd full of palominos. I finally found her. She was all alone in an outdoor pen with a carppy lean-to for "shelter". She was standing with her head down and her front legs really far apart in ankle deep mud and urine and manure. Her bright eyes were dull and I went up to her and burst into tears. She had something called Navicular, which is a bone in the hoof that gets inflamed and causes a ton of pain. She needed to be specialy shod in shoes with heel bars and pads evert 6-8 weeks by our farrier which my mom was sending them money for. She was also supposed to be on light shavings for bedding or grass, and her feet had to stay very dry. She was on a grass hay ONLY diet because anything richer would aggrevate her hoof. They had a big stack of bales of very old wet moldy alfalfa hay that I don't know if she had the ability to even get to in her state. It had been stacked right up against the fence for free feeding all day as much as she wanted (and the one thing this horse loved most was to eat). I called my mom in hyperventilating choking tears and told her to call her vet to have him drop everything and come put her down. My mom was busy and didn't seem to comprehend how truly serious this was and she couldn't be expected to face another hour like that let alone another night and day. I ended up calling the vet myself. He was there within the hour because he had been her vet through all 3 owners and even delivered her as a foal. She had a stillborn baby that he also delivered and so he had a great fondness for her. A personal one. He cried when he was putting her down. What a terrible way to send her off after she was....well, she was quite a handful, but for ME a fun handful. I wonder how long she stood in that corral off by herself with zero contact from anybody and fending for herself. She had a filthy electric waterer which was the only way she stayed alive sadly. Apparently that program had lost their license and geez who knows, I don't care. They tortured and abused ny horse through severe neglect and made that beautiful light in her eyes go out. How could they? How DARE they? I'm 48 now and that still wakes me up with bad dreams and I definitely have PTSD after seeing her like that. I wish my mom had checked on her. She got remarried to the love of her life only 6 months after she divorced my abusive dad and so she was off in her happy world without a though or care about the past. But she should have gone back to that place every month to HAND them their check for the farrier and to check on how my horse was. If I wasn't so far away I would have been there as often as possible because the one thing I lost in their divorce was my future in riding and the horses I grew up with and one I trained and took to the US National Eventing Championships and brought home a personal first place. But I was never going to be able to afford the lifestyle in horses at the level I was at. Anyway, I checked on her as soon as I could and I couldn't wait to see her. It was awful. She was 19. And no horse deserves that. Especially her. I hugged her face and cried and cried and just loved on her and ugh. Yeah. Look at how bright thus horse's eye got even just when he knew he had been rescued. Even when all he could was lay down and not even lift his head to eat hay. His light came back on within and shone right through his eyes and his expression. Beautiful. This video made my who year. I'm saving it. Thank you for sharing him and his journey with us. And thank you...thank you so much for saving him. 💗

A "theraputic riding program"... What kind of therapy would such people provide or were they just con-artists? This makes my blood boil. I can't really comprehend how you must have felt.

That was tough to watch. But there's nothing more gratifying than seeing the light come back into an animal's eyes that had lost hope. God bless the rescuers ❤️

As a trainer I have often volunteered my time with the equine rescue centers and I'm always appalled at the condition and neglect of the horse but this has to be the worst I've ever seen. You did an amazing job and oh my gosh he turned out to be so beautiful. My hat is off to you.

The wickedness of people who leave an animal to die slowly over months is unbelievable. Makes me sick. Lovely to see that this horse had the will to live and knew right away that you were there to help him.

Vani Little Star, Cruel world, you got it right!... Wake up already!... Horses , farm animals, pets in peoples yards get ill with same symptoms and 99,9% of them will die. Who is dropping poison to hurt those poor animals? Think!... The owners do that? Do you really belive that people fly helicopters above their own yards and drop poison to hurt their pets?... Think again, who benefits from ER treatments and hospitalization? Who is out of control lately?

Wait till the world goes through another dark age and see how "cruelly" animals are treated. We are living in the age of plenty and can frivolously expend resources and energy to save animals and people. Global warming is gonna show us the real laws of nature soon. You'd be hungry enough to eat horses, maybe even people.

Can't express how I felt after seeing this video. Seeing a him on the ground then seeing run around. Really had me crying. Who ever you are I really thank you for saving him.

I'm so emotional seeing this horse going through all this pain and coming on the other side. A lot of respect to the woman who saved him and gave him hope and second chance in life.

What an amazing transformation - he's beautiful. Thank you for saving him. People who would allow an animal to get like he was when rescued should be thrown in jail permanently.

The cruelty of some people seems to have no limit.Thankfully there are souls with such kindness that we see the best of humanity too.❤

I could see on his 1st day standing that they had given him a bath. He looked a LOT better and that probably helped his spirit.

I love Dasher already and I feel he knows he Is Forever blessed now. To meet good people doesn't happen so easily as we May think. Take care.

What a beautiful boy and thank the Lord you found him before he passed on. He looks magnificent and majestic just like horses should ❤️

Yes and if they know who lived there , which they could find out by town records needs to be reported and go to jail , this is not ok otherwise they will just do it again !🙏🏾

This is just so crazy. Praise the Lord that he made it! It is so sad how he was just left to almost die! I hope he has an AMAZING life with his new family! He deserves so much love and i know he will get it!!

Challenge accepted! Gave my husband and granddaughter love and joy today. Fed the wild possums quality scraps (it's really cold tonight) that a stray cat ended up eating some of and my cats and dog are warm and happy. What a good life! Edit: Would like to read what good others have done today. We need more good love in the world so let's share and spread it!
