Use a denibbing file rather than sand paper, it will cause a lot less damage to surrounding paint/clear coat and flatten the new paint much better, also wipe the scratch with isopropyl alcohol before applying paint to make sure there are no contaminants in the scratch. Very good result though, may not be 100% perfect but if you didn't know it was there you wouldn't be able to see it which is the best you can hope for with touch up repairs.

Great video, easy to follow. The kit seems a good price, it's just a shame it doesn't include a few small pieces of the wet & dry sand paper as these generally have to be bought in bigger packs, and for small jobs you just don't need 8-16 large sheets of sandpaper.

Lovely work and a fine repair. I don't know what you use to film it, but could you get a polariser filter for it? It will take the reflections away and show your work off in a better light so to speak.
If your eye doesn't immediately catch it its all good in my book. Great fix.

Nice tutorial for the DIYers, and I love your work. Looking at closeup of first coat paint, it seems the very top end of scratch was not painted, like you missed a spot. At the finish reveal, the same spot shows the defect, albeit very slight. Would you be able to redo that area, if you wanted to?

Great videos and very helpful. I've watched a few of your videos, I am going to try and repair a few chips on my truck. I've been filling the holes with paint over the last few days building them up flush. I gotta say I'm very nervous to use sandpaper on the paint even if its 1500 or 2000. Although your examples are giving the courage to go for it. I have a few questions I'm hoping you can answer for me. I used the touchup match lacquer for my truck colour wondering if you know if the paint is good on its own or if I need to use the clear coat too. Also do you have any suggestions for polishing compound that I should use. Do I use a cutting compound first then a polishing compound or just straight to polish after the 2000 wet sand. Really appreciate the videos. You do some great work Thanks for sharing
@cvrpov
Жыл бұрын
Just go steady. Use a small block when sanding..plenty of water. Maybe a bit of soap or car shampoo for lube. 1500, 2000 and 3000 then a good compound. I like farecla g360. www.paintgear.co.uk sell some in 100g tube.
Once the polish and wax wear off will you notice any blemishes caused by all the abrasives used?
Great fix. I wouldn't want to scratch the whole surface with sandpaper

Hi, just watched a few of your other videos where you used your finger to apply the paint and didnt sand down or prep like you did here. Curious why you did not use the same technique here?...is there a level of width or depth of a scratch that depends on your approach? Thanks!! Loving your videos.

Very good. Also, people should always be aware that a repair, is barely visible, from even a short distance away. Not unlike viewing a wall-mounted picture/photo, if you like. Imperfections are there to be found, in all walks of life, if you push your nose against it? And how often does anyone do that?
