Ritchie Blackmore doesn't get talked about enough when it comes to the greatest guitarists. Neo-classic and Phrygian/Double Harmonic shred was almost unheard of back in the 60s plus he wrote arguable the greatest riff of all time. He's on my Mount Rushmore of guitarists along with Hendrix, Page and EVH

Strongly agree with this opinion. On few occasions they mention the great Ritchie Blackmore as one of the great guitarists of the time. But for those of us who know good music and rock, Mr. Blackmore is on the cusp of the greats like Jimmi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, etc.

broo say it louder for the people in the back!! a lot of people talk of EVH as the last "creator" alive, but i disagree on that. not that EVH wasn't one of the greats, but Blackmore is still alive and he should also be considered a "creator", a very important chapter in the history of the electric guitar, along with Jimi Hendrix and EVH, that helped expand it's vocabulary. he was a huge inspiration for EVH, Malmsteen, Brian Tatler etc. and if it weren't for the heavy rock direction DP took because of him, we wouldn't've had Metallica. his playing still sounds fresh to this day, he was many many years ahead of his time. one of the greatest guitarists ever still alive (such a shame he can barely still play the guitar tho).

fantastic drummer Mr Ian Paice
At 15:42 Paicey drops his drumstick and keeps on rockin'! Definitely the most underrated drummer ever. Deep Purple '69-'73 was untouchable. It's a fact. Look it up!
Best live band ever. Jon Lord and Ian Paice shine here...and Blackmore Is stellar!
Их нужнно не просто слушать,а слледить за рука ми музыкантов.Это мастерство! Это зрелище.Потрясающе.
Recorded in August 1969 in a small municipality named Bilzen in Belgium. The festival name was "Jazz Bilzen". The older generation is still proud that Deep Purple featured on their poster😉

Unfortunately the tragic demise then death of Tommy Bolin(whom Blackmore suggested his band mates check out) leaves one of histories grandest questions, the age old What If, or If Only Not For, etc. I think Bolin would have extended Blackmore's creativity, originality, and his expertise.
Hat's off to whomever mic'd Ian's drums. Awesome performance.
Every single member of this band is a once-in-a-century talent on their respective instrument. Unbelievable. I could listen to a 24h drum solo by Ian Paice without going to the bathroom.

I agree with you, be it Blackmore, Gillan, Glover, Lord & Paice. Both the earlier & later renditions of Them were never the same. Bands that last much longer such as The Who, The Stones, Slade & The Kinks really gave them a run for their money, as They lasted longer without too many line-up changes. Can't see David Coverdale singing either Smoke or Strange Kind.

True i would love to have mandrake root back in the set right after Space Truckin', just like they did in their younger years. Last time they did this was back in 1993, the last time Blackmore was with the band. It's a shame they dropped it, it's such a wall of energy and a great way to end a show on an absolute high.
19 minutes of nothing but pure hardcore rock! It doesn't get any better than this! Simply fantastic!

Yes, it's weird isn't it. You can see whole tracks with long guitar solos with never a shot of Ritchie other than in wide shots of the whole stage. I wondered whether he had his near invisibility in his contract.

Ritchie was the father of neo-classical rock/metal music. He fused the two, and many other styles, together to create the biggest trend of the 1980's/90's and beyond. Absolute genius. Seeing him live was the best memory in life. And I've had many very great memories!

Bellissimo concerto.
Another fantastic piece from an MKII live show. But just a short part of the full show. I am still amazed that there are so few concerts filmed from this period, compared to other bands for which there are numerous films in concert or in the studio.

Великая музыка!!! Крутые музыканты!!!
Jon Lord is an organ player who is able to combine Marshall guitar amps with full gain settings without any mixture of overdrive pedals or distortion pedals, natural from the Marshall guitar amp itself. So the sound produced is truly pure distortion from a guitar amp.
