It came to me one day in Jerksville
Man, I was right on the edge
That jacket’s too small for a man of your size
And those socks are too big for your head
My eyes glaze at whatever you say,
But I’m listening, do tell me more,
It goes under the bridge, right over my head
And out through my portable door
I was trapped in a dire situation
Between reason and someone-in-law
The winner takes all and runs off with the ball
Nothing could pleasure me more
Times were, I’d have spoken my piece
For a minute or two held the floor
But I can’t get a word in so here I am hurtling
Right out through my portable door
The jabbering’s hurting my brain cell so bad
For once in my life I am bored
The public house beckons, I follow the call
And slip in through my portable door
The unlikely event came upon me
I wasn’t prepared for the shock
Once round my neck and twice round the deck
And the rest disappeared up the block
So here we are and everything’s changed
Faster than ever before
You gotta be jokin’, man what are you smoking
Blow it out through my portable door

I absolutely love the way in this video that Ian looks at the camera right before the vocals start. As if to say “Yeah, we’re not quite done yet”!
Mind completely blown. Edit: it's a shame the younger generation can't make music like this. Just look at these old guys, still rocking. Quite impressive. This is what pure talent looks and sounds like.

My father has been listening to Deep Purple since he was a young teenager (he's now 64), and thanks to him, my sister and I inherited his musical taste since we were babies. Now that I'm 32 years old, it brings me a lot of joy and nostalgia when they release new material because I feel like I'm growing alongside the band, and their music has accompanied me throughout my life. I know many things aren't forever, like having your parents or friends who are aging, but Purple will still be there and will never let me forget how happy I was and am!! Congratulations to the band 🤘🏻!!!! Greetings from Argentina🇦🇷!

I lost my father 2 years ago due to a mix complications of cancer and Covid19. Both of us were huge rock music fans, and every time we met he would start playing his old records of Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, and Queen. We would listen to it together and discuss everything about the band. Today when I saw this Music Video thumbnail on KZread, I automatically clicked on it, and as I listened to this song my tears started to fall. It would have been amazing if we could listen to it together, I can imagine how he would be so excited to talk about their music and sounds. God, I haven't cried this hard since his funeral. Thank you Deep Purple for releasing this song and helping me reminisce all the memories I had of my father...

I'm always saddened when a band with so much talent and a great following disbands. Deep Purple has persevered no matter who has left, come back or unfortunately passed away (Jon Lord, bless his soul). When a band receives new talent, I think it only enhances their energy and their following. When "Turning to Crime" came out I thought maybe that would be their last album as Steve Morse left unexpectedly due to family health issues and Pace and Glover (both 75) and Gillian and Airy (both 78) would probably retire. Along comes Simon McBride who in his own way has filled the guitar spot professionally and is one Hell of a guitarist. I was so overjoyed when I saw this video and looking forward to getting this new album. I'll never give up on Deep Purple! When people that say that it's not Deep Purple without Richie Blackmore and Jon Lord (God bless him), I just wish they would give "new blood" a chance! All Hail DEEP PURPLE!

An unmistakable Deep Purple shuffle that recalls Black Night and Strange Kind of Woman, of course without being as frenzied (especially when it comes to the vocals), but in line with where they are now musically and given their age. In this age of tribute bands, it's sooo exciting to experience the real thing. All the Purple elements are in this fabulous song: the awesome B3 organ, the pulsing beat and Glover's bass, and of course, Ian's voice. I got the shivers up my spine when I heard this song.
My first concert was Deep Purple at the Bournemouth Winter Gardens in 1971 we stayed for the encores and had to catch the milk train back to Weymouth but it was worth it . At that time they were the loudest band in the world. This video shows they can still write a great song and play with great skill and originality. Still my favourite rock band till this day. Great.

I'm a longtime fan of Deep Purple. I'm 70 and have played drums for a total of 22 years over a period of 52 years, so I know even if you take the boy out of the band, you can't take the band out of the boy. These guys are still in the band (or back in the band) and they can still Rock!

Ive been a Purple fan since album #1. This brings me back to their Fireball days where it's melodic and rolling rifs combine to bring Perfection once again. Although I love Steve Morse more this new guitar player brings with him a new and different sound which to my ears is a beautiful mix of Steve and Richie. Long live Deep Purple. I'm now 67 and this makes me feel like I'm listening to them in my bedroom for the very 1st time all over again.

Man, that's a sick song. Riffy, catchy, tight, great vocals and typically crazy Gillan lyrics. Sinon McBride looks like a worthy successor to the peerless Steve Morse, too. This amazing band continues to deliver; can't wait for =1.
