With “Man Alive”, Deep Purple delivers a perfect example for the versatility of their new album. The band explores their progressive-rock side while, once again, Ian Gillan shows his passion for storytelling.
After exploring the boundaries of time and space with the video for “Throw My Bones”, the first single of “Whoosh!”, Deep Purple step into the next chapter on their way to the release of the new album and again keep their fingers on the pulse time. The new video is both, a declaration of love to Mother Earth as well as a concerned look into the future.

Deep Purple’s brand-new studio album “Whoosh!” follows their worldwide chart-topping albums “inFinite” (2017) and “NOW What?!” (2013). For the third time, Deep Purple joins forces with producer Bob Ezrin, and together they created the most versatile album in their collaboration, “stretching out in all directions” without any limitation, letting their creativity go.
“Deep Purple is putting the Deep back into Purple” was the half-joking motto in the studio after the first songs made it clear that Ezrin and Purple were on a path to creating an album pushing the boundaries of time, while voicing their resentment about the current situation of the world and addressing all generations.
“Whoosh is an onomatopoeic word that, when viewed through one end of a radio-telescope, describes the transient nature of humanity on Earth; and, through the other end from a closer perspective, illustrates the career of Deep Purple.” - ig

Face reality, it's wonderful they were still around, but bands don't get better.
When a band keeps looking for new sounds despite the decades without losing its essence... Purple forever.
Anyone who doesn't listen to the later albums because Ritchie isn't there are missing a treat. Steve Morse is a fantastic guitar player.

Yes fantastic player but his guitar sounds almost too melodic and same sounding a lot of the time. I miss the sound of the strat and those crunchy riffs.

I'd say infinite and Woosh are good some great songwriting, especially Gillan, but Morse is actually nothing special, just a lame shadow of the Morse from Dixie dregs. Blackmore is done for, will die playing acoustic Christmas covers after that Lorelei fiasco with the pathetic "rainbow tribute bar band"

Agree! He has such a unique and soulful style that fits so well and takes it to another level. He is truly a joy to listen to compared to all the white bread metal heads who do the same riffs.
Ian Gillan, Ian Paice, Roger Glover, Steve Morse, and Don Airey, thank you. And thank you to all former members from all marks that have made the band what it is today. I love you guys and Deep Purple so damn much. No matter what lineup/mark, I love you guys. 50 years and counting producing some of the worlds greatest music that has influenced and touched hundreds of millions over those years, it’s truly a special thing. You’re the last of the unholy trinity of you, Zep, and Black Sabbath still around as a band. So again, just thank you for continuing what you love to do. I can’t wait for the new album, be safe, and stay healthy and rocking!

More than 50 years of career and producing innovative, creative and experimental music. Deep Purple is and will always be one of the greatest bands in rock history. This song has even oboe in the arrange! Wondeful guitar solo!

Yet, none of this basically mediocre stuff would of made it to the MK 1, 2, or even 3 albums. Go back and listen if you think this is of such great quality.
I listened deep purple for first time when I was a child, I was 4 years, my father had the machine head and burn albums (vinyls) and he played these albums many times. At my short age I was in love of that amazing power sound. Now im 33 and I told my father thank you because I listen classic rock for him. My father has cancer, and we both together still listen deep purple and many others classic rock bands while he is resting in bed while Im supporting him with this hard situation. Thank you Deep Purple for giving us amazing songs we enjoy alot.

Loving all the Steve Morse era albums, Abandon is probably my favourite, such a dark, broody beast of an album. Whoosh sits really nicely alongside both Perpendicular and Now What. Special mention to Bananas, Rapture Of The Deep & Infinite, all get played lots at home and in the car. This is a special period in the bands history, their writing and musicianship remain as great and unique as ever !!!

Hi Giovanni, I'm sitting here on this rainy saturday afternoon listening to the new DP album beeing very pleased with the amazing new songs and this fresh and vital stuff. As I have read your posting not only "Woosh" get's me through but also your writting about your feelings in music and your father's health. In music Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden .... have lead me more than 40 Years now to my life. I listen to their music when I was happy and also when I was sad, their music give me power and strength. My father passed away in 2017 by cancer of the lungs. With this background I wish to your father to have the strength to battle against his cancer and to succeed. Greeting from Neon Knight.

It's a beautiful melody! Great solo from Steve, actual lyrics from Ian... Something new and nothing ordinary from giants of progressive hard-rock! DEEP PURPLE!!!

52 years into their career and still releasing ground breaking progressive rock unlike anything any band young or old come dream of coming close to. Gillan’s voice still on top form. Keep going guys, judging by this there’s absolutely no way you should be even contemplating jacking it in.

Im grateful for being alive and be able to listen to this band's new album...thank you Deep Purple
I was a precocious 11 year old when Perfect Strangers came out and I recognized how incredibly improbable it was for a rock band I loved to reunite and produce such miraculous music. I took it as a once in a career happening. Now, I'm a 40-something listening to this and I honestly can't believe what I'm hearing. Deep Purple uber alles! I wonder who's producing this, but I also know it doesn't really matter much because the bottom line is Deep Purple lives on in fully vibrant colour! Bravo!

@@hofla7777 My parents are American and I was born in this US as well. I live in LA, CA. Maybe I was misleading with my tiny German phrase and English "colour" which I thought was appropriate for Purple. Ha!

@@jonblackers4339, well, music is about developing and moving forward. This Purple do. Also, they do pay tribute to their age. Ian Gillan's voice can't do the extreme things he used to. But why should he. His voice is still tremendous a little lower. And yes, they have moved forward. And I LOVE it.

Most people stopped talking about Ritchie Blackmore about 27 years ago, Deep Purple on the other hand have released 7 epic albums since then, the last 3 have all sold incredibly well, this current (2002 - 2020) line up of DP is actually the second most successful line up of this iconic band after the "classic" M2 line up and for alot of younger fans Steve Morse is the only DP guitarist they've ever known 🙂

So true. Never realised that. I grew up listening to MK2. To me it’s always Ritchie. It’s time for me to move Steve Morse out of Ritchie’s shadow and take his rightful place. Steve earned it. With immense talent and great attitude.

Another incredible track from what is shaping up to be their greatest album yet!!! Deep Purple has been my favorite band since I discovered them almost 47 years ago... and I'm NEVER disappointed!

Wow! This is fantastic. Still rock music but with the right blend of symphonic maturity. Ian Gillan is amazing. The whole band is amazing, but Gillan being the singer, has to make his music with a 70+ year old throat and lungs. Simply amazing he still sings, let alone at this level.

The would be pretty awesome to hear. Honestly, the fact Gillian can still sing reasonably well at his age is pretty remarkable. How many guys can still sing hard rock in their mid 70s?

I never fail to get an ASMR fro listening to this song. Love the accompanying video. Deep Purple should have made a sci-fi oriented concept album from this song alone.

In 2001 Deep Purple came to my little town, Drøbak, in Norway. An outdoor consert in Badeparken here. What a GREAT show. I was flabbergasted by the intensity of what DP gave to us. They gave me multiple eargasms too as well. Thank you, Deep Purple.

Can we all talk about how gourgeously structured this song is? I mean, sure DP has got a plenty of conceptual and even more sophisticated material in their catalogue. But amongst the relatively latest records produced under the supervision of Bob Ezrin this song is hands down most impressive and compelling. It's like a splendid fusion of Floydian space-like ambience and Purple's signature sound. Just captivating.

Their writing keeps getting better.
I always loved them from the first time I heard DP in rock and have every vinyl album, my brother took me to see them at the Glasgow Apollo ( Green's Playhouse as it was then) when Fireball came out in 1971 and again for Machine Head in 1972, I will be 67 this year and can remember them well, this is simply stunning video for it, sure makes me feel old though...
Incredible new music from an iconic band, love how they keep trying different approaches. Looking forward to hearing the full LP later this year. Gillan sounding great !!!
