Your the man Man
I was eight when this song was released (1968) and it's still one of my all time favorites of any genre. Your analysis was spot on. In my opinion, the line "I need her lovin' and I'm not to blame now" is his way of saying, "It's HER fault for putting me in this mess in the first place. Not mine!" Yeah, right! 😄
This is my favorite Deep Purple song - SO glad you gave it a listen. They KILLED this one live every time.

God bless Fats Waller and Art Tatum for having the bright idea to drag the Hammond organ out of the church and into the jazz club. We owe all future organ greatness to them. One of the things I love about your videos, Jamel, is that it's not just feeling the music and letting us all experience the love for these great tunes again through your eyes (and ears), but that you also have a powerful message that you deliver in so many of your post-song reactions - love each other, and love & respect yourself. Which so many people need to hear (including me, from time to time).
This is one of my all time favorite songs ever!!!
I've been loving the new Deep Purple album, "Whoosh". They made 3 music videos from it.
The Hammond B3 organ was in just about every band back in the day. Live in a small club that thing would just carry you away. It had a spinning fan type of thing that gave it that unique sound. I love it.
This is my wife's site but I've been listening to all this great music for a few months now and loving it! I was sixteen when this came out and I absolutely loved it! I'm sixty-nine now and I'm still rocking out, still going to concerts and don't plan on stopping till they put me in the ground!! Another band you MUST checkout Jamal is another English band called Uriah Heep. When I came back home in 1971 from overseas my middle brother said, "You gotta hear these guys!" I've got Deep Purple's greatest hits and also two cds of Uriah Heep! Keep rocking out and enjoying yourself, having fun and know I'm dancing in my chair too! Love Ya brother, Cliff
Great song! “My Woman From Tokyo” would be a great follow-up!

Deep Purple was my first concert. I was in high school and the year was 1984, the Perfect Strangers tour. John Lord on the organ was amazing. He was rocking that organ back and forth while playing the Hell out of it. He rocked it so far I was actually holding my breath thinking it would crash down on the floor, but nope...he had total control of it. Completely amazing. You need to react to Space Truckin if you haven't already.
A vampire atmosphere to that one. That's how I'd do the video. A vampire claiming he's not to blame for his nature and missing someone who stole his heart as part of her nature. Touché
When my dad played bass in a wedding/event cover band, I always told him this should be the last song. Let everyone in the band take their ride while the party dances, and leave everyone ready to KEEP IT GOING in the hotel!!! This is the good shit, and I'm a fan of all Deep Purple!!

I just asked for this song yesterday and here it is. Thanks! This is such a jammin' Deep Purple song. Love it!
It's songs like this from my high school years that are probably responsible for my love of the Hammond B3 and the Leslie speaker. Years ago, I produced a local blues festival, and I always had a least one band that a keyboardist playing a B3. I'm still a sucker for that sound. However, my stagehands that had to move these heavy organs were not as enthusiastic as me about it, lol.
@dalexfilms

Luckily, newer electronics can copy the B3 sound pretty well in much lighter packages, and they're getting close on the Leslie vibrato sound, too. The moving/undulating sound of an accelerating or braking Leslie rotor is almost orgasmic. I can relate to your enthusiasm!

The “Na, nana na, nana na, nana naa” tune is the same as the “aaaa” tune in the middle of the Beatles “A Day in the Life” (the end of Paul McCartney’s part, “someone spoke and I went into a dream...aaaaa”. Deep Purple even slowed it down in the final few seconds of the song like the way the Beatles sing it.
