The audio for this is from Kilburn, London, and was taped for radio broadcast in May 74. Ritchie is at his best here, totally switched on and leading from the front. David and Glenn sound superb, and Jon and Paicey are inspired. They knew this broadcast was important not only to push the album, but also to reassure fans the new Purple could cut it live. Brilliant performance.

I am Japanese, but I love deep purple. Vocal replaces Mr. Cavadair, his singing ability is amazing. There are few vocalists who can shout at the current rock world. If it is a Japanese vocalist, it is Mr. kohsi Inaba of "B'z" or Mister Minoru Niihara place of "Loudness". Deep purple is a band before I was born, but famous songs can not fade away. Performance is also the best! I was born in this era and wanted to go to live of Deep Purple!

Saw this lineup at Longbeach Arena in November 1974. The doors were wide open and we wandered in and out as they blew our minds. It was so loud and hot inside that kids escaped the arena to lay out on the sand of the beach. We were so stoned watching the lights dancing on the water. Still I wish it would’ve been Ian doing lead vocals. Magical night! When I die I’m going back to 1974.

Your Mums cousin is a legend. He brought soul and funk to Deep Purple with his amazing voice and equally tremendous bass playing. His contrast with Coverdale was perfect. He's still going too !! Loved this band. Come Taste The Band was awesome too. Rip Tommy Bolin xxxxxxxx. Be proud dude ;-)

What a band! My favorite mark ever, even if I like Gillan as well...I thing Mark III was the best one if we talk of musicianship and good songs. Blackmore was reaching the top of his technical skills and his feeling in solos was incredible...this version of Burn is really great.

Vladimir, in my humble opinion Deep Purple - Mk iii owned the year 1974. Deep Purple ... the California Jam and their album Burn meant they ruled rock. It is said that 1974 and the years 1972 to 1975 were the greatest in rock. Names we hear are The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Marc Bolan, David Bowie, Glen Hughes, David Coverdale, Black Sabbath and of course Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple.

Yeah baby ...THE PURPLE DEEP in action ...I had tge privilege of finding this theatre in Kilburn...wish I could've snuck in like some theatres for a peek when no event of course... I noticed the footage shows entry of Ritchie where as the Cal Jam shows very little of the man...maybe they edited him out due to his camera smash ...I recently saw two hockey games at the Milwaukee Arena / Panther Arena UWM where I witnessed the incredible volume of their gig in December 11, 1974...and many other concerts I witnessed there...BURN baby...!!
