I first heard Deen play in his garage when he was 17 or 18 in Salem Oregon. It was obvious that he was destined for great things. He was a real nice guy as well. I never knew that he could sing. Unbelievable! Best wishes for Deen wherever his path takes him.

He's not just a Great drummer, He also got pipes as a vocalist... One of my idols in rock drumming, Thanks Deen!

This guy is a prodigy. He can sing and play complex lines on the drums at the same time.

Holy smokes!!! He’s not just another skin basher!!! Incredible!!!! …..and that voice!!!! Amazingly blessed individual!!!!!

As a dude who played for 20 years I can say this is exceptional drumming. He's got amazing command of the drums and is right on the front edge to a tee. Great drummer.

I've always been amazed by Deen's drumming abilities, but when he opened his mouth to sing is when my jaw dropped...this guy ...so gifted!

That was my feeling as well. Unbelievable.

I first heard of Deen in the band Wild Dogs back in the late 80's. On the Reign of Terror album his drumming is insane!

Man!! Aquiles Priester is the real disciple of this Drummer! Even the "Ride playing" is the same!

@L_ A_ Yeah Gene cites Deen as an influence many times, especially how his playing on Dragon's Kiss influenced him in Death's Symbolic album. His style on Individual Thought Patterns was mainly inspired by Steve Gadd, though.

Dude....love Deen...he gives some fresh air to heavy drumming.

Deen was ahead of most with his double bass drumming I remember a friend turning me on to Wild Dogs Reign Of Terror Blew me away at that time I never heard speed like that he played on a lot of albums for Mike Varney and Shrapnel Record's back in the day

He's definitely one of my all time heroes!!

Most impressive, he played on a geezer Butler record, some of the best drumming I’ve ever heard

@@666aftershave yes he did and was AWESOME !!!! the hardest song to sing and play too in my experience, and Deen knocks it out of the ball park. I hear in the rumor dept that Deen is taking over as LEAD SINGER for JOURNEY in 2019

Discovered this guy recently listening to Ozzmosis and had to find out who the drummer was. Amazing drummer!

Hes up there as a musician on par with the likes of Prince, Ted Kirkpatrick, Phil Collins etc

Have you ever heard Tony MacAlpine's 'Maximum Security' album? Deen plays drums on half of the tracks there and is, of course, extraordinary.

Not the actual recording sessions, though. This is Castronovo's instructional VHS from around 1990. He was playing along with the original tracks, but the album had already come out earlier.

Hey, I’m the one that directed and edited the video for Shrapnel Records at the time. We used three Sony three tube cameras and recorded on three-quarter inch umatic video tape. We shot it at Prairie Sun recording studios in Cotati California. I just digitized camera one, the entire session… I’ll upload some more clips.😎🎥 Thanks for checking it out!

Yep and I’m the one that produced the video, he was so cool there before he lost his mind on drugs, but he recovered and he’s back on top again and man that guy can sing as well as being a phenomenal drummer and doing them both at the same time… thanks for your comment.
