crazy i came across this video....my uncle was telling me about a Flotsam show he was at and how Jason was playing so crazy his hand was bleeding! he said it was during his younger days so probably early to mid 80s.

Honestly, if you play heavy music, using a pick is the way to go in my opinion. Unless you have a really unique way of attacking the strings with your fingers, like for instance Steve Harris, nothing beats the punch you get out of your bass by playing with a pick. I used to exclusively play with my fingers, because it was easier to me but once I figured out how to do it with a pick, I never went back except when the genre demands it.

Tommy has been my favorite drummer for years. The first time I heard him play was with Black Oak Arkansas. His drum solo just blew me away. I have a live recording of Black Oak that I pull out and listen to still. Have videos of him with whitesnake and Ozzy. Tommy fan for life!!

Yep and I’m the one that produced the video, he was so cool there before he lost his mind on drugs, but he recovered and he’s back on top again and man that guy can sing as well as being a phenomenal drummer and doing them both at the same time… thanks for your comment. Honestly, if you play heavy music, using a pick is the way to go in my opinion.
