No sorry. It would be extra dangerous to cut open a shell with that much flash powder.

This is how I made 3" salute shells. I use the the plastic shells from Skylighter and I cut a 1 1/8 i.d. tube about 1 3/4" long and glued it to the inside bottom half of the shell, around the 1/4" time fuse, and made sure to use enough glue around the base to seal it from leaking flash, and filled it with around 30 grams of flash. I then took a piece of stiff paper or light cardboard and hot-glued it to the top of the tube and made sure to seal it from leaking flash. If you want, you could fill the space around the tube with cut stars or whatever. Doing it this way is much neater and you don't have flash powder all over everything. Construct your shell the way you usually do and send it skyward! It is crazy loud! Be careful with your flash as just a little static electricity could ignite the dust around your work station. Please be very, very careful! Good luck! Let me know if this works for you!

How do you know about the burst charge? There is a choice when building it. Low power rice hull mix. 2fg black. And flash powder. Or any speed in-between by mixing. Are the rice hulls just for economy? Use less stars, so less burst, so a bulk filler?

Smaller shells you can use BP for burst but the amount you would need on larger shells would blow the stars blind. Coated rice hulls does not overpower the break and is also lighter. A little flash just helps insure ignition as well.

Do you know what kind of glue that is. I have been trying to figure it out for a while now.

No. I don’t have clue. Still just use hot glue for mine.

How accurate was their measurement of total composition? I've never torn down a 1.3 shell... Just curious, most of the 3" wizards I had were usually in the upper 200grams.

Ok, I weighed the shell without the lift charge and it weighed 150 grams (including the tail). Just the contents weighed 93 grams. The lift charge weighed 36 grams.

@@kennyeast2539 Indeed. My Klasek and Zink shells are usually 220 or so NEC. I can even build my own up to about 250 NEC.
