Not just saying this because I'm a Hammer but I think he's better off staying with us for another season. He's still improving. The prevailing wisdom at the club is that he can add goals and assists to his game but as it stands only United have a first team spot where he would immediately improve them. If he goes to Chelsea or City he would cost them something when replacing who they have. In a year, if he continues growing and adds those goals and assists, he walks into any side. Obviously I'd rather West Ham build a team around him but I fear that's unlikely until 2023 or later, when we are more likely to find new ownership.

I saw Declan rice at an Se dons cup final 3 years ago. I was making a documentary on se dons & asked Declan if he’d give me an interview & he answered all my questions with genuine interest. One of the nicest people I’ve met 🤝

Great great interview. Declan can and will be a role model to a new generation of footballers looking for inspiration in a time of so much controversy. Gary showing his skills to lead a casual chat is also nice to see. As a west ham fan its painful to see how obvious it is he's gonna leave, but I think it's also obvious he'll always hold us in his heart. I'll keep on hating some of the prems big names, like Chelsea Liverpool and United, but, no matter where he goes, I'll always be a fan of him. Go win it all, Declan ⚒️

I wasn't immediately a fan of Declan Rice until I seen some of his performances for England and watched the genuine, honest approach in his interviews you can't help be like the fella. A great inspiration for all at such a young age.

I'm a longtime Liverpool fan and I really enjoy the way Gary carries himself, the questions he asks, and the intelligent insight he brings. I would never had said this a couple years ago so fair play Gary. I will also say that Declan is one of the most intelligent and level headed footballers I have heard from, definite captain material.

This didn't disappoint. Insightful interview and good to hear Dec speak so openly and sweetly. He's a good man and an extremely talented man. He's en route to being one of England's finest in history of football and so very deserved. He's also funny, intelligent, grounded and has good foundation with fam and friends, so important.❤ Wish he was my friend haha

Well done Gary, this is a great new format to informally introduce players to your audience and capture them as they are. Declan is without a shadow of a doubt one of the finest talents in the country right now. I really do hope the new share holder is able to invest in the squad and work around building a strong team around the likes if Rice & Bowen to compete at the highest level.

What an absolutely brilliant example to young players. Just look at how down to earth he is. Not only is he a brilliant inspiration, he's a FUCKING good player. One of the best and for me, he is the FIRST on the team sheet for England. Tremendous player and built of the 'right stuff'. Took really hard knocks being released by Chelsea then now look at him. PURE CLASS.

Phenomenal interview by Gary Neville. One of the best football interviews I've ever seen... also help that Declan is confident in himself, good guy and obviously a future England captain. He'll follow in Bobby Moore's footsteps and lift the world cup and Michael Jordan Westham into Champs league domination.

What a chilled, relaxed and confident lad Declan comes across as. You can't get mad at him and he's proper likeable. He articulates incredibly well and thats testament to his family, education and life lessons/experiences. Brilliant interview. 👏👏 Unpopular opinion: Would absolutely love him at Utd, he's the type of player, personality we need, but at the same time with the way we are, play and continue to be, I wouldnt want him at us only because we have a very bad habit of ruining young, top quality talents and it'd be an absolute shame to see him decline.

Spot on with what you have said, United need him badly but does he need United, would he better off going back to Chelsea and playing with mount and back to club that rejected him, I think that's what will happen but soooo want him at United. Best English holding midfielder iv ever seen and I am including Carrick who I liked to watch as well.

Thoroughly enjoyable watch. What a decent, grounded lad. What a fantastic footballer. He plays well above his years. They've been saying that at West Ham for ages. Will be sad to see him leave, I think a lot of West Ham fans are resigned to it. But he's ambitious and you can't knock that. I'd never begrudge him want to achieve things in life and would wish him all the best and say thanks to him for giving 100% in the Claret and Blue. Who knows, if we can either secure a Champions League place (unlikely) or win the FA Cup or Europa League (possible) it might convince him to stay another season. Good luck Deccers whatever you do.
