And despite the tremendous amounts of distress and anxiety that disorder would cause, it still would have meant that her mind is wrong. It would not have meant that everyone else is wrong. Everyone else that perceives her as female would have been correct, therefore it would have been ludicrous to force everyone else to comply to her wrong instruction.

@@mrkiky I don't think it means her mind was wrong. Or that it's a mental disorder. There is nothing about that situation that inherently causes hardship on your survival like being blind or deaf. What if CIS people are the ones whose mind is wrong? And I somewhat agree that it doesn't contribute to what sex she is. Biological sex is more than just your genitalia. It's also your brain. Here's an example A LONG TIME ago NYC was willing to take anyone to start teaching if they could just pass a test, which I took. A question was how would you teach children to learn how to read, And wrote about phonics and practicing sounding it out blah blah. When I got the test back it was marked wrong along with the response WHAT ABOUT THE MEANING? They can't read without knowing the meaning of the word. And I think you all do the same with sex. Yes, we are a Sexually reproducing species as opposed to an asexually reproducing species. But all that tells you is which parts do what things to create offspring. It doesn't tell you anything about that person specifically.

Insane that it takes a whole panel and an evolutionary biologist to explain something humans have known for many thousands of years. Thank somebody that sanity still exists!

true that. i work in medical coding, and while some "woke codes" are available to indicate that a person is trans-sexual, biological sex will always be a necessary component in the chart - not to discriminate, but because it's critical for understanding disease processes and for developing and administering treatments (eg for malignancies).

Wow, I haven't heard of Wild Swans. Will look it up. From a distance I remember when some of the cultural revolution was happening, and later watched a documentary on it. Was so heartbreaking. All the beautiful art that was destroyed. My dad read about history, and especially about Chinese history all the time. I grew up surrounded by the families collected antique Chinese art.

Yes. But sadly, this insanity is still spreading. Apparently, a school, or some schools are actually referring to boys as "sperm carriers", and girls as "egg carriers" in their sex ed. class. If this is true, parents really need to get their children away from this stuff.

Um, this question is actually one that has always made me sad. There have always been a group of people in every society that denies reality. Some people are very easily fooled. It really is that simple. Just one small historical example: even though it was very clear to a large majority of Germans that Adolf Hitler was a danger, there were still upwards of 30% of Germans that voted for the Nazi party in the 1930s. Every society has a significantly large minority that just doesn't have the thinking skills to discriminate between truth and fiction. This was as true during Roman times as it is right now. Historically, the danger always comes when those that don't understand reality for what it is gain control in government. Once there, usually things play out very badly indeed. If you want to see some of this in action, I'll point to something most people have no awareness of.. the history of Liberia. Just go read that.. and you'll know how stupid things can be.

I agree, and pointed out that there have always been people in all societies that can't accept reality, and must make up other reasons that aren't based in fact. And some people are VERY easily fooled (hence my comment about 30% of Germans voting for Hitler in the 1930s, when most Germans could see what he really was). And when those types of people get control of government, they tend to create chaos. The radical left has a lot of representation in the US government.. and the radical left has a LOT of individuals that can't accept reality for what it is. How you feel as a man or a woman appears to be based, at least partly, on brain physiology, however how we express our gender is based on our environment (culture). For example, there was a longitudinal study which followed a group of boys who had their penises destroyed due to botched circumcisions. The doctors told the parents that they couldn't repair the damage, however since they were babies, could be 'transitioned' into girls. What the study showed was that these girls, who looked like girls and were treated as girls (having no memory of being transitioned because they were babies) felt like boys trapped in the wrong body. Some parents took them to therapists to help them adapt, however nothing worked. They were told what happened when they were older and some decided to transition back to males.

I AM familiar with the Devid Reimer case and there are excellent documentaries on it on YT and other platforms. He was a twin whose penis was rendered useless in a botched circumcision as an infant. He was raised s girl until puberty where he said,"No I am boy." and stopped cooperating in the experiment. He was the control person of Dr. John Money's theory that gender is all nurture and zero nature. It was a failure in every way. It ended with both the boys committing suicide and destroyed the family. Money destroyed that family on a THEORY. One that failed totally. They admit their goal from the get go was to destroy sexual norms through sex education programs in schools. Money was so extreme in his beliefs (influenced by his known hatred for his own penis, perhaps) advocated for castrating all males at birth! I encourage you to do a deep dive on your own and see if it passes your personal litmus test for settled science.

@@divergentsenior I can't speak to Money's psychological disposition, nor is motives, however I'd advise caution when getting info from social media, unless you know the sources are both non biased and cognizant of the issue I remember hearing about this at University, during a 'sensation and perception' class in Psychology (we were studying the primate visual/auditory systems). A discussion broke out concerning the ethics of scientific progress and how it can run amok (Japan's unit 731 or the Nazi concentration camps being resent examples of unethical science). The discussions focused on two things: ethical research and the implications of the research the professor spoke of. As far as the studies are concerned, from what I remember the psychologists didn't interfere in any way, they just collected data. Many of the 'girls' felt like they were in the wrong body, some parents tried therapy to deal with their gender dysphoria, however nothing really worked, they later told them what had happened. Money believed that gender identity was learned, however the studies I heard about said the opposite. Although their bodies were changed to look female, their brains didn't change, thus the idea is that gender identity is a product, at least in part, of brain anatomy. Years later I found myself talking with another professor (Neuroscientist), and over some 'herbal products' we discussed the aforementioned issue, we both agreed it'd be interesting to see if there were any differences between the brains of Transgender people vs Cis gender people. Years later studies have shown that there are differences between the brains of trans vs cisgender subjects using fMRI scans (we also know that there are differences between female vs male brains). In short, the data appears to show that the brains of transgenders resemble what you'd see in the gender they identify as. As to what causes this is at present unknown (at least as far as I know, since I don't follow this research that closely). The problem is that trans ideology maybe influencing how children see themselves, leading to false diagnosis of transgenderism. However, that's a topic for a different time ...

Yes. Physically, men can become women as the body can be drastically altered using technology. Hormones are suprisingly effective in changing someone's physical appearance even just biologically. Mentally, trans women were always women since they were born since the whole reason they are trans was that they were incorrectly born with a female brain in a male body when they should have been a female brain in a female body. Genetically, you cannot change your DNA to be a different gender on a genetic level. No trans person says you can do this. However, genetics isn't everything and isn't the end all be all. Gender is a lot more complex that just someone's genetics and isn't entirely black and white. It also involves their brain (mental gender) and body (physical gender) both which are seperate from someone's genetics. What determines someone's gender in this modern society, as we've discovered in recent years, isn't their genetics. It's not even their body, though that is still very important. It's their brain and if their brain is male, female, or intersex. Also, no trans person wants to "recruit kids." No one is trying to do that, that's a baseless conspiracy formed in "gay recruitment theory" which is bullcrap and has always been. In a perfect world, no one would be trans as everyone would be born in their proper bodies. HRT is banned until 18 years and sex change operations aren't avalible until age 21 and at least 2 years on HRT. So no child is going through life-changing surgeries or medical intervention before they're able to. In some cases Puberty Blockers may be used, which while more research certainly needs to be done on them, have mostly proven to be safe and effective in delaying puberty and have been used since the 70s to treat early onset puberty. It only become a problem for people once questioning, potentially trans kids started using them. And trans people aren't "going against women's rights." More rights for one group does not mean less rights for another.

Trans women being accepted in society and allowed to do what they want does not hurt women in every way, especially when it's not taken to a logical extreme. Trans people just want to recieve proper medical care and be free from hate and discrimination. It is 100% legal in a large majority of countries and states to fire someone or deny them medical care just for them being trans and it's also legal and sometimes even encouraged in many places to harass and bully trans people without consequence. It's madness that this discrimination is still allowed. It isn't what Jesus would want. However, there is a limit I don't think trans women who aren't yet 2 years on HRT (which at that point they would nearly be fully biologically female) should share a locker room or compete with cis women, but after 2 years of HRT it's mostly fine. Bathrooms are a non-issue because nobody cares and is just there to take a crap. No one is looking at each other's junk in there and honestly single-gender bathrooms are stupid anyways as the only difference is that the girls stall doesn't have urinals and is usually cleaner due to girls being less rowdy and gross. The solution is easy: create multiple isolated single stall stations for families, nonbinary people, and not fully transitioned trans people in changing/locker rooms and get rid of separated bathrooms by gender and just make every bathroom gender neutral. All your bathrooms in your own house are gender neutral so why do you need gender exclusive ones in public? It's all so stupid.

In 100 years society will have forgotten all about the flat earth society. But they will be laughing hysterically about educated people back in the 21rst century trying to figure out the difference between a boy and a girl.

It is also a simple fact that for you (& I) to live REQUIRES death and not only death (and pain) of plants - despite any mental gymnastics we try to play to deny it. And, this death is a picture of what our rebellion against our Creator has caused. Yet, the God of compassion wants us to live full & meaningful lives worthy of this death. The God, who made us all, has demonstrated true (self-sacrificial) love for us by coming down to live among us, restricting his own freedoms and rights (as GOD), living in obedient alignment with God's (his own) design for us, allowing himself to be mocked and unjustly condemned, whipped to the edge of life such that he was no longer recognizable, and dying a tortured death, even a humiliating, criminal's death on a cross. Then, Jesus proved that he can save us because he himself was raised from the dead! (see the extensive historical evidence). If Jesus had not paid the price of our rebellion, we would have no hope, only causing death and each ending in death. Thanks be to God, who made a way to pay the debt of our sin.

As John Gray explains The difference between men and women is that estrogen makes women too emotional or 10 times more emotional under stress......Testosterone makes men do problem-solving and suppresses the estrogen in his body at the same time. Therefore men are usually so cynical about females' emotions and they look like they never grew up, but it's biology, they don't do it consciously but subconsciously. Even though it looks like they do it on purpose....... I guess the humor and divine aspect make people use empathy and give each other space to understand each other. 🙂 .....When a woman is not in stress, she is calm and focuses better....So let's do some sports that make all of us in balance. 🙂 Music is also good therapy. 🙂

Men can be just as emotional but testosterone makes men turn their emotions to more violent expressions. This is why men are more likely to commit suicide than women are and men are more likely to rape than women are and men are more likely to have mental illnesses than women are and on and on. That thing about "Testosterone makes men do problem-solving" is complete bullshit. (Women are more likely to attempt suicide but men will choose deadlier methods of suicide and are also more likely to commit murder/suicide taking other people down with them when they kill themselves).

@@barbarakauppi9915 I would argue it doesn't matter, to us, who the despot is. The despot is going to exist no matter what. Factor the basics in this world equation: Finite length of time left on this planet + current technology + immense wealth and power spread among a few.. We can't do anything to the despot. The despot works to control all that which is necessary to control in order to achieve a desired outcome. The outcome is to answer the question of a space exploration pilgrimage. We can see an arm of the despot having meetings discussing world events under the context of things which the room has the power to change.. I would guess if the despot is looking at least 300 years into the future, there are many things which it can act on now and may necessarily need to act on now.. I'm always more obsessed with the thought of where the despot is going with things, because perhaps if I look close enough I could more or less "see the future" which we are all along for the ride. World population had long been a popular subject among MEGA millionaires or billionaires... We are finally reaching a point now, after years of seeing this subject float around, where the population is predicted to top out and possibly even decline at some point. It wouldn't surprise me if all this gender confusion is just a large portion of the newer 'brainwashing' being introduced into societies which these despot arms have the most immediate influence over.

When you speak with people who are deranged, you sometimes have to accept that they are being sincere. I suspect that this is also the case here. What fascinates me about transgenderism is the anthropology it expresses. There is an inner "me" that is more "me" than the physical "me." Yet this inner "me" has sexuality it can only express through the outer "me" with which it can differ. This, we are assured, is the "scientific" stance.

What you are calling insanity, I call willful ignorance (confusing biological sex with gender). But society _should_ entertain discourse on the matter because it's the social oppression that caused this in the first place.

I've had similar encounter with a comeback that shut them up cant remember bit I thought to myself..do they even think further than their hand in front of them? Obviously not. Feel bad for them when reality hits and it hits us all..but a lot of us appalled and scared for these confused kids doing "pauses" and surgery, as adults we have to protect them because we know, we'd be responsible/accountable if we didn't say anything

I had 4 kids go through the public system and there are plenty of associated mind viruses going back to the 70s that we're peripheral to what is going on now. My comment was basically an expression of dismay that the stupidity has become so mainstream and actually now a cultural phenomenon. I applaud anyone who stands up against it even though the fight is robbing all of us of the time and energy to solve problems that are actually real problems, not wayward mental and social contagions.

My brother and sister in law had a baby whose sex was unable to be determined at birth due to Trisomy 13 disease. We had to wait to find out the sex after she died. Guess what? There were still only 2 choices: male or female. She was female. How could you pull in a third choice or fourth? It’s ridiculous

This is basically fourth grade biology being taught at Yale. Like, I can literally remember sitting in class at some indistinct time, learning this stuff. Why, exactly, did it become so controversial? Nevermind, it's Las Vegas. I wish it was at Yale. That was a hopeful statement, seeing the Yale T-shirt.

I love FACTS. As a physician, I am appalled at the ridiculous ideas that there are more than 2 sexes. I only know that if you have a Y chromosome, you are a male (androgen insensitivity disorder is a hormonal problem and unrelated to sex.)

When I saw evolutionary biologist I almost didn't click on it because I figured it would be another lecture on how many genders there are and how they are fluid. But... thankfully I reluctantly clicked on it. This lecture gives me hope! I'm fearful for our children who are no longer learning real biology as given in this lecture, but are learning the new so-called "science."

It is interesting that on the whole the comments after this video (as far as I have read) are congratulatory and in aggreement with the points made, I too largely agree. I recently listened to a video that was defending trans people from awful victimisation and the terrible and cruel behaviour of 'obviously' hateful people who dare to question trans ideaology , the comments following that video were likewise congratulatory and in agreement with the points made. The thing that strikes me is how the algorythms siloe us all, ununderstanding of the others point of view rarely happens . Sadly the scientific points raised in this video will probably not be seen, understood or recognised by the people who are being most damaged by the myths regarding sex.

I have noticed the same thing. I believe it is by design. Once the system recognize you as pro something, you'll only be shown the pro videos, even-tho there are many anti videos with the same topic. This is not how the algorithm used to work. You usually get recommendations on anything related the topic you are searching, regardless if you are pro or against. as long as its on the topic. At least that's what I observes This is making sure people live in echo chambers and don't get to exposed the opposite voice. Interesttingly you can see even in schools and universities, these woke folks have been conditioned to not engage in any discussion with their opposition. They will respond any attempt of engagement with scream, anger and harassment. You can see those who are still willing to engage usually find themselves shock at how easily they get refuted...a sign they are never get challenged in their opinion.

Oh the siloing is absolutely real, it's an intentional part of the "personalized" marketing to drive up engagement. To your other point it's possible to appreciate the reality of the sex binary, recognizing objective truths without bigotry, AND still support trans rights. I don't hate trans folks, I want them to live happy and healthy lives, but I also refuse to discard truth, facts, and science in order to protect sensitive feelings: a male cannot become a female, the Earth isn't flat, and god doesn't exist. Get over it.

He is absolutely correct. Gender is proclaimed at the moment of conception. There are no arguments, that's when you are well on your way to being who you are.

Can someone make a list of the universities that push this rhetoric so I know where NOT to send my children if I want them to actually learn science. He mention Florida Univesity and I’m assuming anything in California but someone really needs to make a list.

I know the speaker has already mentioned this in the presentation and it tracks with what I learnt years ago in a biological science class (can't remember whether high school or university). From memory (many years ago, studying biology) my understanding of the classification/definition of the two sexes has to do with what's required to procreate - and that is male gametes or sex cells (spermatozoa) and female gametes (ova). There's no 'third sex' that's required or can be used for human procreation. Secondary sex characteristics provide a visual signifier - but it's the primary sex characteristics - the gametes that are important. EDIT: Actually, per what the speaker says - the chromosomes determine rather than define the sex.

"Sex is a binary system." How dare you? Where are my pearls? I must clutch them!

I love that he points this out in the beginning. This is all good and well. But speaking from experience. As someone who studied all this both through education and personal interest... you can spell all of this out clearly and coherently and it will not do anything to change their minds. There is something else going on there. I don't think they would be willing to say this on a public stage. But if we are being honest...what's going on there is mental illness. Mental illness is an inability to cope with or correctly perceive reality. . Fundamentally speaking Depression - inability to cope with reality physically Anxiety - inability to cope with reality mentally Schizophrenia - inability to perceive reality Split personality - inability to cope with and perceive reality Bi-polar - inability to perceive reality through an unbiased lens PTSD - inability to cope with reality, with inability to perceive reality in extreme trigger cases Dissociative disorder - inability to cope with reality that leads to an inability to correctly perceive reality Transgenderism - inability to cope with and perceive reality

On my farm, there are bulls and cows; there are billy and nanny goats; there are dogs and bitches; there are roosters and hens just outside our farmhouse walls. I do not need to analyse their chromosomes to tell which is which, they manifest their differences without any influence from me psychologically or socially or politically. My daughters and sons were raised in a family where both mother and father were working medical practitioners who did not do the colour coding of the baby clothing nor polarise the toys or books available freely around the house and on the extensive bookshelves.

I learned in 7th grade science class: 2 chromosomes determine sex. One is provided by each parent. The mother always supplies an X {because that's all she has) and the father supplies either an X or a Y. These form either the pair XX, in which case the offspring is female, or the pair XY, in which case the offspring is male. It's really that simple. In rare instances, one parent supplies both of their chromosomes, in which case the resultant offspring would be XXY, or possibly XXX. In even rarer instances, there could be XXXY, receiving both chromosomes from both parents. This generally results in sterility, or serious fertility issues. Also, instances of occurrence are 1:500-1000, so it's very rare. Also, there's a test for that. So why don't we use that test, and codify legislation around it? If someone "identifies" as something other than what seems obvious, why don't we just say "Well, let's do the chromosome test, and we'll abide by the results."? If they turn out to have Klinefelter syndrome (XXY), I don't have a problem with them choosing to identify as whichever they want. If they have no Y chromosome, then they're female. Transitioning children who have a normal XX or XY pair should be banned.

You’ve explained this very well, better than my 7th grade science teacher, in fact! I actually had a hard time remembering this and I use the phrase “XY, you’re a guy” to remember which is which, and while I knew there were certain variations, I didn’t remember what they were or how they came by them.

But unfortunately the surgeons (butchers ) treating these children aren't interested in what sex the child is. They're only interested in providing them with the visual aspect of a different gender, which of course doesn't change their sex . Let's see if Leah Thomas can conceive!!

What you say is generally correct, but not the whole story. The purpose of the SRY gene of the Y chromosome is to TRIGGER the development of the fertilized egg into a male, but it's the development itself, in the presence or absence of testosterone, that determines the embryo's sex. Without sufficient testosterone in the womb, the fertilized egg will develop as female irrespective of the presence of a Y chromosome. Gonadal development occurs in early pregnancy. High or low levels of testosterone or testosterone insensitivity will affect gonadal development and often results in intersex development of the fetus. The amount of testosterone in the womb in late pregnancy is also important. The presence or lack of testosterone will determine the sex of the brain. The sex of an individual is far more complex than the existence of a single gene at conception.

I love his politeness. Unlike trans activists, he sees a problem with telling women what they are.

'Spectrum' is an advertisement for reassignment surgeries.

Love and acceptance needs to be accompanied by wisdom and civility. Is it wise to sterilize and change anatomy? Is it civil to impede upon private/ intimate spaces?

No, but that is what doctors did when someone's genitals didn't look right at birth. They guessed. And this is the LAB that we had to learn uh-oh "SEX" is not only your genitals and your ability to reproduce. You might be able to produce sperm but that does not necessarily mean you are male. I'll not be naive and pretend that there isn't a social psychosis happening regarding human sexuality. Is it possible that what's being referred to IS identity assigned to each sex , as a societal construct. To question gender norms isn't new, and neither gender should be expected to conform to an imposed identity. How gender is exhibited, strictly from a biological perspective, IS simple.

Biological sex is 2 billion years old...it literally predates the neurons needed for self-awareness/consciousness. Billions of years of dimorphic specialization matters.

Dr Wright needs to come to the U.K. to do a talk at some of the universities and on some of the news and talk shows.

What a wonderful man. I hope he has a thick skin because he will get such a lot of criticism, I imagine from a lot of delusional individuals. It pains me to say that schoolchildren are being fed delusions and that facts like these are being ignored. It is mad!

So if we extrapolate the gingerbread man/woman and put children on a spectrum and start applying that to going into puberty then we are in danger of putting many children on puberty blockers so that they follow the spectrum theyve been placed on. This is dangerous

I live in sweden, there were some trans ppl in 80-90-00... nobody cared, and then with social media (tumbler) the last 10-13;yrs it just exploded! And as I said, nobody cared if someone was trans here b4.

The word "woman" relates to the word "female" the way that the word "cat" relates to the word "feline". "Man" relates to the word "male" the way that "dog" relates to the word "canine". The gender terms, "woman / man" or "girl / boy" are the colloquial versions of the formal scientific terms "female" and "male". Gender and biological sex are inseparably intertwined concepts. Just as men are not females and women are not males, cat's are not canines and dogs are not felines.

Only modern day would require a 1 hour lecture about how 1+1=2

One point to add: The reason man and male are separate terms is only because boys are males too. The separation is due to level of maturity and development.

I agree with what he says but sex and gender are the same thing and I know a lot of people say they’re not but it’s so arbitrary. They get personality mixed up with gender. No matter how you feel In your head and what delusions you believe it does not change your reality of being born male or female

Yes but how we express our sex is learned behaviour from societal norms. Females and males should be allowed to express their gender identity without being medicalised sterilised and mutilated for life. We need to accept true gender non conformity and then this madness will end- hopefully. We shouldn’t be forced into conformity by society.

Sex is real; it's sexual *stereotypes* that are fake, and cause all the trouble. There are only two sexes, but their characteristics can vary wildly.

We are living in a time where the idea that 'trans women are not actually women' is described as a 'belief'. How did this happen?

So my small breasts qualify me as being less female as opposed to a woman with large breasts? Never mind that I have a uterus and ovaries and have menstruated for 40 plus years prior to menopause. How insulting. I know what I would say to that assertion and it wouldn't be kind!!

In any case: Thanks ICONS for what you are doing for women’s sports. Thanks Colin Wright fir your lecture. Very reminiscent of my science classes, for sure, but people need to hear you. With all my respect for the trans community, I would like to say, again and again, that a trans woman athlete (= a biological man with full intact genitalia and high levels of testosterone still) has no place in women’s sports. Many trans people agree to this actually. I support Riley Gaines’ quest for justice 200%.
