Death Valley Overland Expedition | These Canyons Are full of Ghosts | Part 1
This is Part 1 of our #deathvalley #overlandadventure. Join us as we explore the wastelands, deep canyons, and high mountains of Death Valley. This is not the National Park route, we are retracing steps from a bygone era, the last of the Death Valley Prospectors who explored the desert and #panamintmountains in search of riches. If you love history, the mysteries of the desert, and adventure, come along for the ride!
On this adventure we are joined with our good friends Johnny and Denise Instagram, @ChateauTacoma, their son Chase @ChaseWalkerBandofficial , Robert, and Scott .
If you enjoy the video, please give us a thumbs up, as it help our channel grow. Also consider subscribing, it's free and we would love for you to join us on the Open Road. Part 2 of our Death Valley expedition will be coming soon.

Great video, thanks for the shout out, (Thrifty Overlander) I am watching from London, couldn't wait until I got home. Interesting that you had snow in that heavy brush area by the spring and it was completely gone 1/2 hour or so later when we went through. Amazing adventure and very skilled, responsible driving. Loved the food. Good job. I’ll never be able to do that. Too dam old and way too cautious. I’ll stick to trail cruising and rock hounding in my Willys Jeep.

Great video. We were there in early February. There was snow on some of the trail and at Rogers Pass. We did your path in reverse and Chicken Corners heading down. That was tricky to keep the vehicle from sliding. I think heading up is better as you have more control. But with a good spotter we made it with no issues. The shelf road itself wasn't a problem. The cabins up there are great! We base camped in Trona so we didn't spend the night. Next time!

So in that area that you're in. I used to camp in the valley below when I was doing my field work for my degree in geophysics. I used to love it because you would wake up in the morning from the descendants of old minor burros calling out. I remember there was a nudist colony out there too. Lol

Emmett C Harder, author of “These Canyons Are Full Of Ghosts” is 90 years old and lives in Devore, CA with his lovely wife, Ruth. I was on the phone with him yesterday 4/10/2023 as he described his vintage cabin in Wood Canyon, nearby your driving route up to Rogers Pass. I’m trying to locate vintage photos of Mr Harder’s cabin. He also landed in his Cessna 170 right at Barker Ranch during the Charlie Manson days to meet up with a geologist to assist with his mining claims. Wild stories for sure. Love your video production style, narration and the soundtrack is classy.
