@@tikalthewhimsicott2736It sort of breaks my heart. Those old blocky Jeeps are actually pretty reliable. Poured 92,000 miles on a 1990 Cherokee with almost no issues. Ironically, I ran into a dilemma: the mechanics warned me that the engine was outlasting everything around it! The coolant pump failed. They said it was just too old. Replaced it. The door locks wore out, replaced those. Then something else failed. All this was AFTER 11 years of ownership. That dang 4.0 6 cylinder just kept happily chugging away. I think it would still run even if the entire body was all rusted out!

That's why I believe they will make a show about Gus in Chile and the Salamanca before BCS, a prequel-prequel

Hank taking down Tuco was one of my favourite moments of his. Unlike most shows, you can see how shock and adrenaline affect him once Tuco starts shooting at him. His hands are shaking, you can see when he starts lining up the shot, then his training comes into play, he almost nods to himself, breathes deeply, steadies himself and then takes the shot.

Ehhh I find both of his shootouts here to be kind of ridiculous. Man somehow avoids a massive barrage (which btw that gun would almost definitely penetrate the flimsy car door he was behind) and takes like 3 or 4 seconds to get on the ground. Makes Tuco seem ridiculously weak considering how easy it should have been to mow him down there. Then the second one he really should have died but then the cliche villain waiting to kill the hero happens. They also had the jump on him and really should have won here.

Look at Gus’ face until he realizes lalo was actually hit lmao.. also fired about 3 empty chambers to make sure the job was done.. just shows how scary lalo was

That's one of the most brilliant things about BCS. Throughout most of Breaking Bad, we see Tuco and Gus as two of the scariest villains ever. And in the first seasons of BCS the same. And then along comes Lalo with his sophistication and charm, smiles broadly, and says, "Hold my beer!"

The timing of Lalo's death at the end of BCS's prequel saga is paramount. He was the strategist amongst the Salamancas, the one who saw the big picture. He wasn’t motivated by hatred, blood lust or how he felt at a given moment when someone said something which offended him. Lalo was the man set up to ensure the Salamancas not only survived but prospered in the drug empire business. He was given the best education and no doubt introduced into the most crucial networks of influence. Without him Gus was able to pull the strings and whittle down the Salamancas one by one...until Walt realised his long lingering revenge over Hector was his Achilles Heel.

I remember thinking to myself that it was kind of trippy that Lalo was the first major Salamanca to die. But in a way it makes sense. In BCS the Salamanca's were falling slightly out of favor with Eladio but they were still quite influential and respected. But I think the death of Lalo thematically marked the death of the Salamanca's future. Out of all the Salamancas, Lalo was the one who I think could have truly elevated the Salamancas back to their former glory and beyond if he took over. Him dying sealed their fate as being essentially the glorified grunts of the Cartel we see in BB

Lalo was definitely meant to take over Don Eladio aswell as Tuco to take over Hectors role. Their was already tension between the Salamancas and the Cartel given how much Hector was beefing with them right before he had his stroke

I love how Hectors Death feels so much more meaningful after Better Call Saul. In BB we knew it was a personal Vendetta between Gus and Hector, but after actually seeing so much of the stuff in BCS it just hits different

i also love how one of the greatest prequels ever created was the result of a few small moments. mike only exists because bob odenkirk wasn't there for filming in BB season 2, and nacho and lalo only exist because of the one-off joke when saul was introduced. just goes to show how beautifully written this universe is

Of all the different scenes, I love how Hector went out the best. He was a bad ass till the end. He might have been a "crippled, little rata" old man, but he got even with Gus. He went out on his own terms. Nobody killed him, nobody took advantage of his handicaps, he wanted one thing and one thing only, getting Gus Fring. Great scene and great ending to 2 great characters.

A lot of things came to fruition with this scene when it came to Gus’s fate - Gus’s own vendetta and anger towards Hector caused him to keep Hector alive, which inevitably led to Gus’s demise - Walter attached the bomb to Hector’s wheelchair - Lalo provided the bell that Hector uses to trigger the bomb, showing how even from the grave 6 feet under the meth lab, he still helped get Gus in the end

I just noticed the brother that Hank shot's exit wound is so large because they used hollow points. That's a great detail holy

As far as I know hollow points are specifically designed to do more damage, since they enter a body whole but due to the way the casings are shaped the exit wound is a lot nastier. That's why when Hank shoots one of the twins in the head, the exit wound looks like it exploded outwards

Hank doing Gus a lot of favor

Getting out of bed soon after losing a leg is a pain. Cannot tell you how many times I forgot and fell really hard.

When I saw Hank killing Tuco, I was surprised ofcourse that why Tuco was killed off in with a limited screentime in Breaking Bad (through he had more screen time in Better call Saul). But how genius of Vince Gilligan to create such a creative scene where Hank who was just doing sidequests of trying to track Jesse (who was a random junkie during early seasons) , suddenly out of the blue is now facing a head to head combat against one of the main Salmanca guy Tuco, who was injured by Jesse. The acting itself is top-notch. One of the many more reasons to love such a masterpiece series like Breaking Bad.

@@ev6558I don’t care too much about unoriginality unless the execution was done well. Which I think so. Raymond Cruz’s acting was stellar for Tuco, and Tuco’s craziness and unpredictability provided some tension with scenes like him taking Walter and Jesse to his house in the middle of nowhere

Didnt know that it is really hard to shoot someone at the dark like what happened to Lalo, but props to gus for having a photographic memory and remembering where Lalo stands.

I really love the hank scene because the gunfight highlights the difference between the two guys. One is spraying and takes forever to reload. And the other is calm and reloads quickly.

So these people, some of them goes illegal ways and some goes the legal way as Hank. Hank was always showing his “alpha” character to everyone including his colleagues (such as Gomey). But he was one of the “good guys” so in his terms it was justifying his actions. I like to think Hector expected that bomb to go off on the first tap of the bell. Then he’s frantically hammering that bell going “Why the F*#k doesn’t this thing go boom?” 🤣

Gus has killed 1 salamanca, Hank has killed 3 salamanca's, Jesse has killed 1 salamanca and Walter has killed 1 salamanca and also gus technically but actually hector is the one who blew himself and gus

the fact the twins killed some dude saying "jesus" who was obviously a civilian means they were no big hitmen. they were two dorks who often ambushed their targets and never engaged in a serious fight. salaclowns is more like it

@@nameynamename3758 I mean, I have very little context as I've never seen the show, but from what I have seen here, they do not seem to be professional or really all that intimidating beyond physical appearance in the realm of fiction. The way that one guy fires his rifle randomly, with no precision, and then easily got shot by sticking his head out of cover. And the way that one twin reloaded his 1911 was very sloppy, sloppy enough to let a round fall to the ground. He lets himself get shot, easily gets distracted enough to waste ammo on a civilian, and then when he has the opportunity to end the fight, he chooses to give his opponent the chance to kill him instead. Beyond all that, none of them behave in a way that suggests that they would be effective in a real firefight. Like maybe every other scene they show up in in the show makes them look really awesome. But that's hard for me to believe when there's a compilation of them getting got in somewhat goofy ways. Goofy for a show that is meant to be more grounded, at least. Or I assume Breaking Bad is meant to be relatively grounded as far as a fictional show goes.

@kremmydaki2377 then this is inconsistency of the writing then. Or that gang is just even less competent. Cuz you're not easily convincing me that the same guy who is this careless and reloads a 1911 like that is the same person who can wipe out an entire competent stronghold. Guy has fast reflexes when shooting a non combatant, but has the slowest reflexes when somebody is aiming a gun at him. Another one of them can't even win in a straight gunfight against another regular guy who just unloads his pistol at him. How the heck is that supposed to be the same guy who wipes out multiple other people by himself when he can't even win against one? And then there's the guy who apparently doesn't know how to use a rifle at all and just sprays and pray, and loses a fight against a guy who just has a pistol. These people don't look competent. They look like jokers who are given plot armor to look cool.

@kremmydaki2377 Here's what I get from these characters. They're mostly style and intimidation, and very little actual skill. That's why they wear these goofy ass suits and stupid shoes, and carry stock 1911s. They think it makes them look cool, but really it makes them look like clowns. They win fights by getting the drop on people, and even then, they aren't guaranteed to kill. But in an actual fight against anyone with any real skill with firearms, in a situation where they don't have the advantage already, they're nearly complete jokers. Guy who lost his legs couldn't even be smart with carrying out what I assume is his vengeance towards Bryan Cranston. Like a goofy ass idiot, he just chooses to crawl towards his target without any plan, only really hurting himself. What was he going to do even if he reached him, bite his ankles? Jokers and dorks, from what I'm seeing here. And they're somehow meant to be big villains in the series, I assume. Yeah, maybe to completely unarmed non combatant civilians. The twins even lost in a 2v1 against a fat Dea agent. Yet somehow these are the same people who can single handedly take out an entire stronghold? How incompetent are these strongholds? Is it a homeless stronghold where nobody is armed or has any real strength to fight back?

Everybody sleeps on Joaquin Salamanca but remember he was Hector's grandson (his only direct descendant shown) he had to have some badass in him. If it hadn't been for Jesse (never underestimate him) Joaquin would've killed a dying Gus as he already incapacitated Mike by shooting him in the stomach and because of that, Mike wasn't around to save Gus (there's no way Walt accomplishes this otherwise). Meaning without Joaquin, Walt would have lost to Gus. A small but critical detail I noticed. He died as fast as he appeared but served a significant purpose. Show some respect for Joaquin. F.

Hank was just such a badass, i loved him so much.

This show was lightning in a bottle. Pure magic.

Lalo should survived because he was good chatacter for another spin off after better call saul

That would just ruin continuity. The only way to keep Lalo alive was to have him walk away, but we all know that would be impossible.

Lalo - professional, clean swept, big ego, very perceptive Tuco - crazy, addict, extremely violent, unhinged The twins - professionals, know it Alls, brutal, high perception and intelligence Joaquin - youngest grandson of hector, extremely rich, stupid, not smart in any way, poor intelligence, killed easily lol Hector - high intelligence, *poos* lookatmehector, explodes

Interesting how Lalo was the first Salamanca to die chronologically, yet was the last one to die in the overall show(s).

The weird thing is the twins do a shooting in daylight in the middle of a parking lot full of people and cameras, like it was no police or justice system, like it was year 1910

Yeah honestly the twins vs hank shootout was one of the areas where I had to suspend my disbelief more. Maybe it was a lighting choice but I thought they should have set the scene at sunset, especially because that was the name of the prior episode.

Whoever thought of that scene was a genius.

Even though you dont know the names or numbers, you can add all the Salamancas who died when Gus's assassins attacked the Salamanca compound.

Gus was pretty handy with that Green Knife! Props to Hank; He was 3-0 against the Salamancas! That Hector got the last laugh!

So i've been watching these clips for years as I never watched the series when they came out, i'll admit this is the first time I knew that Lalo was killed. It didn't even enter my mind that he could have been because he's such a likeable character, in an odd kind of way.

Agreed,gotta watch them both. I only watched BCS once but I think it's time for another viewing,done BB twice so not sure I'll do it again. Overall I think it just edges the Sopranos but that's also a great series

I love how caught off guard the twins were. All this time they were forces to be reckoned with, anyone they went against died. But the fat DEA agent kills at least one and would of crippled the other. Granted Hank got the call from Gus but my point stands, Hank was a beast.

When I was watching Lalo vs Gustavo I forgot this was a prequel and I was fearing for Gustavo's life. Such a tense arc.

It is curious that Gustavo killed the first Salamanca and the last Salamanca killed Gustavo

The more I look back at this story, the more I see how incredibly well written it is. Hands down the best series till date IMO and I think many will agree.

Lalo and Gus were such incredible characters, but that ending scene with them was bad. Gus' "move" was just short of "Look out behind you!" Such talented writers, and they came up with that?!

I love how in every movie or TV show, when a guy's gun runs out of rounds, they always take a second to look at their weapon before reloading. Looking at it as if to say, "Why did you stop working?"

@@abc456f You SHOULD quickly look into the extraction chamber when ever your gun "stops working." If you see brass you have a BIG problem! What if you have a Class III malfunction and you really aren't "out"? You have one hell of a mess on your hands with the full mag in your support hand and needing to lock the slide back, extract the jammed magazine and throw it to the ground, run the slide several times to clear the malfunction, insert a full magazine, drop the slide and THEN re-engage.

2:36 I love that cut from Hank killing Tuco to immediately fighting and killing one of the twins like the twins had just arrived and now he’s fighting them for killing Tuco right in front of them.
