"Better Call Saul" recap: He wasn't always Saul Goodman, ace attorney for chemist-turned-meth dealer Walter White. Six years before he begins to represent Albuquerque's most notorious criminal, Goodman is Jimmy McGill, a small-time attorney hustling to make a name for himself. He's a forceful champion for his low-income clients, an underdog whose morals and ambitions often clash. Jimmy works with private eye Mike Ehrmantraut, a former Philadelphia cop and recent transplant to the Southwest. Mike has a specialized skill set -- he's a "fixer" of sticky situations -- that Jimmy soon learns to appreciate.

I love when an older seasoned actor gets their time to shine. He did so good in this role it’s insane. Complete suspension of disbelief in every scene he’s in. This clinches it, he’s my favorite character in this universe.

Mike being a Vietnam vet holds his character together so well in both breaking bad and better call saul, the man has serious skills in deception and weapon handling which feeds his ability to perform crime and punishment in equal measure while under pressure, truly one of the best written characters in a TV show for a very long time.

Criminal, this guy put on a more convincing performance than any A-List actor out there. I’m glad he got a shot with a hit show and that so many people appreciate his dedication. At the end of the day any movie award show is really just a combination of good sales and insider connections. Emmy or no, people know and appreciate how great he is in BCS and Breaking Bad, absolutely love the old guy.

The only tough scene to act was breaking down over Matty. Apart from that, Mike has a poker face 95% of the time, so he probably has the easiest character in the cast. A great character, but I wouldn't know about Banks. He may or may not be great, but we wouldn't know from this.

Everything about the 'red shoe scene' was perfect, the build up (getting the bag of drugs) the false 'hunter' shots, the camera work from above as it spilled out, and the long tracking shot at the border......sublime!!
The first scene alone demonstrates just how patient and careful he is in the execution of his plans. He had no interest in shooting Hector’s men, but also didn’t want them to be too alerted when he fired off his rifle at the shoe with cocaine inside. He had to fire off enough shots to have them let their guard down by the time he got the cocaine to sprinkle onto the truck. Quite the expert at reconnaissance and planning.

Mike made the show. Period.
Proper clips. A lot cut out the preceding couple of minutes and it makes less sense. Beautifully played part, cool as fuck and totally on top of the situation.

If you don't know what I'm talking about Jonathan Banks has had a LONG career and of the notable roles he's played in, such as in the minor parts he had in TJ Hooker and Hill Street Blues. Above all he's in one of the movies I have religiously watched over and over. It's Beverly Hills Cop(The first one). You left out too much of how a couple of these scenes worked. You ended the "Framing Tuco" scene too soon and you skipped the setup for how he offed the two dirty cops-him stuffing the loaded gun in the back seat and faking how much he had to drink.
