I love Lalo so much because he's smart but super charismatic. You can never tell what he is really thinking, but he's always reading other people through the sound/tone of their voice or their facial emotions. He uses that to his advantage but never drops his charismatic smile. People can never predict what he will do. He doesn't show ANY of that to his enemies. He keeps up his act, keeps cool, and intimidates the people he's getting information out of.

The cinematography and DOP work in this show have got to be the best in television history. Absolutely stunning.

Fun fact, those ants aren't CGI. They actually hired an "ant wrangler". Which is two words I never expected to see together.

Wow. I love the detail of Lalo washing his hands. It symbolizes that his hands became very dirty after working on his car. Just one of the millions of subtle nuances of the show. Vince Gilligan did it again.

I can't believe someone else connected the dots on this. Well done. This scene is dripping with layer upon layer of symbolism. For example, Jimmy speaking to clients on his phone symbolizes the predominance of lawyer work in his life. Nacho opening the rear passenger door represents the desire for Jimmy to enter the vehicle and take a seat. The ice cream cone on the sidewalk symbolizes the idea that ice cream is not welcome in the car. The shiny bling, ghetto music, and pistol in the car symbolizes the thug nature of its occupants. There is so much more, but I think we have enough here to keep us awake for many nights to come.

One other sad detail here is the fact that Lalo got quieter and his demeanor became less joyful when Saul mentioned Abuelita, so its possible she had passed away by this time

Count the camera angles in and around the car ride to the garage. There's about 12 separate shots just for the ride. It takes time and effort, but the camera tells a story even when nobody is speaking. Awesome work.

Jimmy is the ice cream cone left behind to melt under the sun as he talks to Salamanca, when he's back it's full of ants, just as we see the nail salon full of clients there to see Saul at the final season, one of them even asks "You're Salamanca's guy?" Or maybe it's just an ice cream cone, I don't know. Maybe someone can word it better.

That's an older model car, so very unlikely to have had powered door locks. In addition, the older pull-up knobs to unlock it were unscrewed and removed, so this is certainly a manual door lock. Nacho reached back and opened the door using the inside handle. This means that the door wasn't locked when Saul was in there. It couldn't have been.

Never rode in a 70's or 80's model car, have you? Or an Oldsmobile? A 70's model Oldsmobile would have certainly had power locks. And the power locks of the day still used the same knobs as manual locks...just with power actuators. Nacho could open the door, let Saul in, then the driver could lock the door. Also back then, some cars allowed you to pull the interior handle to open a locked door, while some required you to use the power unlock button or lift the lock knob to unlock the door before you could open the door with the handle.

I own two cars from the 90s also definitely don’t have power locks but they are toyotas and they like to keep stuff simple so there is less stuff to break down. if anyone ever forces you in the back of a car, and you have the use of your arms, look on the edge of the door where it meets with the car. there is a small switch there which enables & disables child safety locks, when its disabled, pulling the handle will open the door, even if its locked

Lol, I just realized there’s a little "mistake" (probably) in that scene. During the ride, we can see Saul looking around in the car, and among other things he notices that the locking knobs for the rear doors are missing. This would suggest it is worrying because he can’t escape, however just a moment before we saw Nacho open the door for him from the inside, meaning the doors aren’t locked at all !

Actually not a mistake. Just because you take off the stick thing that let's a passenger manually unlock a door themselves, doesn't mean that it disables the car's central locking mechanisms. Nacho or his driver unlocked the door, and Nacho just pushed it open after that.

The garage they had that meeting in wasn't just for show. They have a modified car. They have a place _to modify_ cars. It's not rocket surgery.

They are just like Phil Leotardo. No eating ice cream in the car.

First minute is fully improvised , Bob Onderkik was just enjoying ice cream, then Michael Mando randomly showed up and kidnaped him! Vince Gilligan saw this and orders camera to shoot! Bravo Vince!

Personally I never really thought to much into this scene. Looking back at it though; I realized that it's more then that. The cartel comes in with the flashy car and invites Jimmy inside. Jimmy trying to get out of the situation does what he does best. Try to talk himself out of it. The contrast in what hes allowed to get away with and what the cartel will let slide is concrete. His last innocence is thrown out the window like with the ice cream.
