This scene compliments Gus in Breaking Bad. Walt's planted a bomb on Gus's car at the hospital, and Jesse tells Gus he thinks someone poisoned Brock. Gus see's this a red flag and when going back to his car, stops, takes a look from the parking complex, and decides not to get in his car, walking off. He's always been very meticulous and over-cautious.

I always thought that that scene was a tiny bit too much of a stretch, I get that Gus is a calm and careful man and it makes sense he would be paranoid. But it still felt just a bit too convenient he would sense something was wrong right before getting to his car and just turn tail and leave. Doesn’t mean I don’t like it, but it’s just a tiny bit off to me.

My assumption was that because of the strap having a hole at the bottom, with the barrel of the gun barely poking out, Gus was concerned there was a chance someone could see it and raise a suspicion. As paranoid as that sounds, it's Gus. It makes total sense for him to stress over a tiny insignificant detail such as that. Although that's only a possibility.

For those wondering, this is Gu's safe house (is next to his main one), where he set his surveillance and defense team against Lalo. The random people that "don't notice him" are a decoy couple, hired by him to keep appearances and to not rise suspicion (they probably were ordered to act as if a security team isn't there). Because of the proximity of those houses, that tunnel must've been easy to dig unlike the lab which required planning for both the drainage/water system and ventilation system.

It’s been referenced how Madrigal has a lot of business interests globally. Say Madrigal has a hand in neighborhood/private community development they could easily build a tunnel and connect various houses while constructing the entire neighborhood. Having those specific houses purchased by Gus and his team as their base is not that unlikely (as opposed to say Russians having an underground base in Indiana like in Stranger Things lol).

It was enough for Walter to think he would best Gus simply by smugging a gun inside, completely ignoring the fact that Gus 1) could be wearing a vest; 2) could be carrying a gun of his own. I don't know about that... Gus didn't really seem at all as paranoid as he is here, when Walt killed Gale. Gus might be wearing a vest, however unlike Lalo, Gus knew the whereabouts of Walt at almost all times(until the end of Season 4). Everytime Walter drove into Los Pollos Hermanos people would be watching, if Walt were to try to go to Gus's house; Tyrus would be watching. And unlike Lalo, Walter isn't a seasoned ex-military Cartel enforcer. Any one of Gus's guys could probably take him head to head. Gus might not risk being caught with a gun in the workplace(even though its legal), only reason he did it for Lalo was cause of how terrifying Lalo was.

I genuinely believe after his friend died at the hands of the cartel its the one thing that kept gus going with his life. It became the one thing that got him up in the morning till the moment he went to sleep. Going through this same tedious routine. Because he dosent seem to have a genuine goal doing the things he does whether its running a sophisticated meth operation or Los pollos hermanos. There's no family, partner or children to provide for even though he's exceedingly wealthy. No other outstanding goals. I believe he simply lived at that point to destroy the entire cartel and especially make Don Hector suffer. It kept him perfectly ironing his shirts to scrubbing those grills to slitting people's throats with box cutters. People's lifestyles and habits often are moulded by the things that have happed to them.

If Mike (of all people) doesn't know where Lalo is, that's something to be scared of. I don't believe Gus was this scared of Walt, as Walt wasn't in hiding; that is until Walt began making attempts at Gus's life. Whatever plan Lalo is scheming, I'm relatively confident that the cousins will be part of it. Lalo knows that he has the upper hand now, as I believe most people assume he's dead. However, his next move will still need to be carefully planned; he has to assume that Gus and Mike aren't 100% certain of his death and are still looking for him.

He also uses the trucks to carefully move drugs across the border. Plus, the restaurant helps serve his image as a community helper, through the amount of charity he does. I always thought the Box Cutter moment was a jump the shark moment for Gus, it never made sense that he would do something that extreme. NOW it makes sense. Lalo broke him.

I love when Gus “transforms”; in this and a few times in Breaking Bad, we see him sort of “shed” his Fast Food Manager by removing his simple business tie and bland cream colored shirt, only to put on darker tones, and sharper fit clothing. Literally going from Businessman to gangster.

I always what drew Gus to this lifestyle. He’s an incredibly disciplined and tactful man. He’d make his way real high up in any corporate structure. I could see him learning multiple languages and at least a graduate degree. Maybe he wouldn’t make it to the top tier of a multinational. But with this level of discipline, he’d for sure hit the national levels. This is the kind of corporate manager that could catch small details that others could not, and after several years of doing that, you’re making the top good decisions and putting good eyes on the middle level.

Two things that caught my attention 1. The obvious thing, he changed from a bright yellow 'chicken man' clothes to a black 'drug lord' clothes 2. He took off his pistol strap and itches his ankles indicating that he's uncomfortable and tired of living in constant fear and undercover. But he needs it and he loves it

I like that he uses a clip on tie. Great detail to show he doesn’t take unnecessary risk. A traditional tie is a risk, making it easy to choke you.

So are we missing the part where one of Gus's guys at 2:31 (the enforcer who tailed Mike back in season 3) is dressed just like him? with glasses? I wonder if it's because he wants to a have a double if push comes to shove?

still love how the decoy couple have a bunch of puzzles and games to keep them occupied. surprisingly humanizing and pleasant moment for the goons that usually get little or none, i.e shitty topknot guy, tyrus.

I just realized, Gus may have started into all of this out of a business opportunity, out of fun to have with his boyfriend back then... but ever since the incident at Don Eladios place, he only kept on going for the revenge against all of them... you never see him do it for a family, nor for the money to live it up... all just power and ultimately revenge.
