Before I list the songs, two things to note. I am aware I am still having audio issues. I did a number of things to remedy this, and nothing has really helped. I will try to fix this soon, but considering I am two months late returning from my hiatus, I just wanted to put out another video. Audio be damned. The other thing is much less important, but might as well mention. The bands Birds of Prey and Forgotten Tomb are arguably influenced by Southern Metal as well. Without further delay here are the songs. Wolverine Blues and Left Hand Path by Entombed. The Glorious Dead and I Walk My Way by Gorefest. Skinned Alive and Massive Killing Capacity by Dismember. Dead Forever and Joy in the Sun by Unleashed. Keep on Rotting in the Free World by Carcass. Moonshield by In Flames. As I Slither by Kataklysm. TNT (ACDC Cover) by Six Feet Under. Tempt the Disciples by Birds of Prey. Dead Men Tell No Tales by Motorhead. Black Metal by Venom. Black Rock n' Roll by Midnight. Now Diabolical by Satyricon. Bad Dreams Come True by Forgotten Tomb. Lifehunger and Paint it Black (Rolling Stones Cover) by Vreid. Myr by Taake. Ethereal Fire by Cloak. Sworn to the Dark by Watain. Sick with Society by Doom. The Facts by Trap Them. Home of the Grave by Black Breath. Dragged to Gehenna by Vallenfyre. Unsilent Death by Nails. Suffer by Dead in the Dirt.

The way I see it. Death 'N' Roll: death metal bands taking influence from hard rock and groove metal Black N Roll: black metal bands taking influence from first wave black metal, heavy metal and speed metal Entombedcore: bands who really love entombed's guitar tone, it can be any style such as grindcore/powerviolence (Nails), Metalcore (All Pigs Must Die) or Death Metal (Gatekeeper)

I think the Metalcore or rather Metallic Hardcore type Entombedcore, is sort of like Proto-Entombedcore, if that makes sense. And I'm not sure I would call straight up Death Metal bands Entombedcore, but I get what you mean.

Another sub sub genre that was lateral to this was D-Beat Rock n Roll/ Motorcharge sound. The blending of Hardcore Punk of Discharge/GBH Swedish HC like Anti-Cimex w/ Motorhead & some Speed Metal. Some examples would be Inepsy, later Disfear (has guy from At the Gates), Skitkids, Auktion. Arguably Entombed's "Uprising" may be closer to D-beat n Roll than Deathnroll. Anyways, cheers!

The *metal n' roll* subgenres I've been intrigued with, due to them not getting brought up too often, so it's nice to now have learned about them. I'll probably keep them in mind if I want something different for a tailgate or party hehe.

To me, these styles make Death and Black Metal fun. As I’ve grown as a person and a listener, I need a little more emotional nuance in my Metal, through melody! Also, I wouldn’t mind a video on Blackened Heavy Metal or Black/Heavy Metal bands.

I re-watched the prog-metal video, and I was curious if you had heard of Deca? He isn't Metal or rock, but the commentary on your prog-metal video reminded me of a couple of his albums. Particularly: "Snakes and Birds" "The Way Through" & "The Ocean" I would be very interested in hearing your opinions on these albums, but I don't expect them to be up your alley. I do think you would be able to appreciate the lyrics and Instrumentals, but they're definitely not heavy like groove metal.

In regards to black n roll, I never understood why some consider bands like Midnight or Destroyer 666 to be black n roll. They’re more just classic black/speed metal. For me, Taake does black n roll the best out of any who’ve tried. It still sounds like black metal, but with a bluesy groove. Du Ville Ville Vestland is a perfect example of a song that does the genre right.

  • @whatsinameme5258

Perhaps, but to answer the question, they are the same thing. I think the confusion stems from the hybrid styles and because people use the term hardcore rather loosely sometimes. Bands that blend metal and hardcore are often called crossover or metalcore, or even just hardcore still. But there are different sounds within these blends of styles. For example Suicidal Tendencies ate Crossover Thrash and Hatebreed are Metallic Hardcore. I'd argue they sound quite different, yet are both combinations of metal and hardcore and both sometimes labelled as simply Hardcore. Hardcore punk is something like Bad Brains. Now of course its rather confusing since even Thrash metal has Hardcore punk influence, so these blends get even more incestous. I'd argue 90% of metal is hardcore influenced, and pretty much all hardcore in the 21st century at least is metal influenced. Hope that helps a bit.

would you put this stuff more with death metal/black metal or metal n roll or hard rock, i dont really create playlists for microgenres edit: im probably gonna have to explain what i mean by a microgenre its a certain sound taken by a few bands like twinkle midwest emo (american football, mom jeans) or atthegatescore in melocore (as i lay dying, darkest hour) or this stuff

I think I get what you mean. I'd say if its influenced by Melodic Death/Black Metal its more in the Extreme Metal camp, as well as Entombedcore since all the hardcore influence makes it less accessible. But I think Now Diabolical and Wolverine Blues and other straight up Black/Death n' Roll would fit nice alongside 90s Metallica and Megadeth in a playlist.

@@whatsinameme5258 honestly most of the issues seem to come from bad acoustics and a lack of post recording audio work. you wanna equalize and fill out the sound a bit in editing but if there is too much echo in the room, it will also amp that. you'll wanna record in a smaller room or a room with some kind of sound boarding. i suggest for a cheap fix as a stop-gap, you could use a comforter as a sort of sound barrier. it feels a little silly but draping a thick cover over yourself while recording will do ALOT for the acoustics in this case. i've also heard of ppl recording in their closet with the winter coats which works too. you just need something thick but soft to dampen that echo.

Oh I'm sure there was Black n Roll in the 90s, I didn't mean to imply there wasn't. I just meant it got prevalent in the 2000s. I mean there was Grunge music in the 80s, but it was pretty sparse. I imagine it was similar with Black n Roll. Kicked off in the 90s, but became a thing in the 2000s. If I'm wrong and there was a huge Black n Roll scene in the 90s feel free to correct me. I don't want to seem like I'm just conveniently leaving out details that contradict my own theory.
