    I really enjoyed this man! I come from a more modern extreme metal sound but I recently discovered this kind of music through some stoner/sludge/psychedelic rock/metal bands (apologies for my lack in terminology, still discovering) and I just love it. I own a PRS signature baritone which I currently don't have access to and man... I wish I could play that thing now, haha. Keep it on, mate. Will browse your other stuff now

    Hey man, thank you so much for a tutorial (real tutorial) about such genres like Funeral -and Drone Doom. It's really interesting and give me some more ideas. But I have one question, have you maybe some ideas, how I can create a dark sounding melody over a rhythm riff? Because only to work with some scales are not really helpful, because it doesn't sound every time good or fixed with the rhythm guitar. I mean i know, which intervalls can sound creepy oder melancholic together but it doesn't really helps. Maybe you got some helpful tips. Cheers \m/

    Is it necessary to use a baritone guitar to play Doom or Drone? I mainly use PRS guitars, two Custom 24's, one is a 7 string, and recently bought the Tremonti signature. Since I have met Paul a few times, friends with guys that work at the Maryland factory, and PRS makes great guitars, I favor the company. Used to be a heavy Fender player, still have my Strat for hard and heavy Rock. The 7 string just sounds amazing doing Drone and Sludge with the factory pickups, tuned to drop G, sometimes drop F.

  • @NicolasPerrault

    @NicolasPerrault

    2 жыл бұрын

    Absolutely not. Generally speaking though a low to very tuning is crucial for the sound. And since I have a baritone guitar tuned to B standard at the ready I use it as my main are for everything lower than D standard. I'm quite certain a 7 string or down-tuned standard scale guitar will do the trick.

    Can u play stoner on fender Stratocaster? And if yes what is needed for this gain/ ? I Havel a Small amplifier ....could i use some pedal for it?? Im a total beginner

  • @NicolasPerrault

    @NicolasPerrault

    2 жыл бұрын

    Sure! A strat is a very versatile guitar and will be of great use for almost all genres. If you're amp cannot generate the sound you're looking for, pedals are the way to modulate the overall sound (sometimes quite drastically). For classic stoner riffage maybe try a big muff by electro harmonix or maybe a zvex fuzzfactory, or if you're into a little more clean-ish fuzz try a fuzzface. The fuzzface can also be used to fatten up clean sounds. Try these out at your local guitar store and don't be afraid to bring your guitar and your amp to try out pedals- most stores seem to be ok with that. Hope that helps! If you have anything else you want information on, let me know. Cheers

I just felt like stratocaster is too classic for it : D ok so my last question is - when I browse for pedals do I need specific knowledge? I spent all my money on this guitar and I dont want to burn it with a doom pedal : D but yeah stoner Sound is more motivating to practise...

  • @NicolasPerrault

    @@AnAntUnderTheRoof pedals can of course be quite expensive, but there's a pretty decent used market for pedals (check reverb.com) and as a diy solution if you're ok with a soldering iron there's a ton of affordable kits you can build yourself. I'd say try fuzz pedals out first for stoner sounds but they can be quite versatile if you get to know them better.

    I'm trying really hard not to make a negative creative critic comment, but I will just say that you are over generalizing the genre. Don't get me wrong, I seriously love what you are attempting to do. It's just that I have a personal history with many in the know of this for about 20 years or so, and enough to call BS when I hear it. Not your tone mind you. It's just more your over simplified descriptions of the genre to be honest. There's more to it than that. You get my "like" and "subscribe" tho without question! You get my mad respect as well! Cheers!
