Ойын-сауық
Original Release Date : December 18, 2015
Conventry Mall, Pottstown, PA
UPDATE : Coventry Mall is still open despite growing vacancy numbers and lack of shoppers. Current reviews on Google are dismal at best. Looks like shoppers are headed elsewhere.

Omg the Limerick’s Furniture made me SO uncomfortable 😳. I’m imagining the poor commission sales person having to hang out in that dismal store all day, praying for a sale.

I had to sit in the entrance foyer of B &Q (in England) in the mid 80s to get people's attention for the double glazing small firm I worked for - basically just used to do that and on other girl but lets say I never pushed it as not my style and hated it but was a bit of money but felt really awkward due to not being part of B&Q really! Suppose you do anything at 19!! 😬😝

At 7:10, I feel like that is a shot right out of a Backrooms video! So creepy.
The worst part is that this mall was actually making a comeback but it got killed by COVID. Now half the building is going to be turned into storage units I’ve heard.

Yeah I remember seeing people sharing video of a trick or treat they had that was PACKED & was happy for them. Sucks that COVID took them out.

What lunatic would want to do that? Storage units? I'm sure that's going to Bring in a bunch of foot traffic. That's going to kill off what remains of Coventry.
I used to go to that mall with my grandparents before my mom moved us across the country. Last time I was there had to be 2006, I think, but I remember going to the Friendly's outside Boscov's with my family and my best friend. Years before, my aunt bought me this neat little version of Milo's journal from the Disney movie Atlantis from what used to be a Walden Books. I remember eating in the food court with my grandpa every other week, and my grandma shopping for Christmas presents at that Boscov's when Plymouth Meeting's was too packed. Since then, all those people are long gone, so I never went back - probably out of the fear for to crushing reality of time passing. The whole 'if I don't see it, it gets to stay as it was, willful ignorance' thing. It was a crappy little mall - and the old people mall, especially when King of Prussia was like an hour or so away, but it's still good to see after all this time. Thanks.

I remember that place, too. I worked in a couple of retail stores there, 1982- 1985. I also moved across the country, and have not been back for many years. The mall always had, to me, an empty, ephemeral feeling, an air of impermanence. And I'm not sure that the mall was ever financially robust; I'm surprised it hung on for as long as it did. I doubt I'll ever be back that way again, but its good to see the place one last time. It is depressing, though. If Sartre were alive today he'd say, "This is what I'm talking about."
I've been really enjoying these remastered dead mall videos. I also appreciate the "update" in the description. It's interesting to note what the current state is. Also, the Saturday night drive videos are a fave of mine. They're super interesting and have a nice chill vibe
Reminds me of McAlister Square in Greenville, SC. You’ve been there Dan! Love all your mastered and remastered videos . Thank you friend! ❤️
Btw. What the heck is up with that depressing living room in the middle of the mall? Awkward as f.
I’m amazed that this place is still open, over 6 years after this video was made. As dead as it looks here, it must have almost NO stores remaining. I’m surprised that Amazon hasn’t swooped down and snatched this property up. All they would need to do is bulldoze it and build their center, just like what they’ve done with how many other dead malls.

Your laugh cracks me up 🤣
Dan! Thank you from Seattle! I have invited to host Rick & yourself here! Plenty to fear, plenty to inspect! Thank you Daniel daaaarling 😉 Love the remasters! I have one vid on my channel where there were no bodies around!
Hi Dan, really fantastic series. I'm not from Pottstown but had a lot of friends in that area. Spent many Sundays there. My kids hanging out with our friend's kids. I agree with you on the decor, it was bad in the early 2000s. The corridor at the opposite end of Sears appeared like they just decided to stop construction and put up a wall. They had exits there but something was just not right aesthetically. The one store you questioned what it was, I believe it was a candy and maybe an cream store too.
this mall reminds me a lot of North County Fair in Escondido, CA. I worked there for 14 years at a store. I left last year, and its a shadow of itself. Store occupancy has to be below 50% now on a giant 3 story mall.
Still open?! Wow! The furniture store displays- did they do them blind-folded in the dark??! Great "squeeky wheel effect" I love that! I'm loving these remasters! Great to get updates of these malls
I was just at this mall and most of the gates for the closed stores were up and you could walk around them
Amazing! 🎊🎉🎉🎊 Thank you sooo much, Dan! Was this the first video where you used the Dionne Warwick THE MAAAAAAAAAALL clip? So iconic now… Everybody who likes Dan‘s videos should join his Patreon. I joined two years ago just to support his video/documentary work, but then I discovered that you get tons of additional content. I had never laughed so much. My gf actually claims that my laugh has changed and it now sounds somewhat like Dan‘s. 🤣
That intro had me cracking up. Great videos!!!
Please tell me you bought the Tony Montana jacket.
That Dionne Warwick clip was classic!😆
Funny. I WISH malls played this vapourwave-ish music you have in these videos. But mostly I don't hear music at malls anymore. Thanks!
Love the dead malls from Dan Bell. That one guy use to yell out your name on The Price Is Right and also say "Come on Down" ☺️ The Maaalll
Classic psychic friends network! Are any of the cast still alive at all?
These dead malls are sad to look at. I remember them back in the 80's when they were full of life and music and colors. The malls were our social media: we met up with friends, met new friends (more than a few marriages came from people meeting at the mall), and my favorite of all: people watching. I miss the vibe. Everything today is drab. Stores and restaurants are all earth tone browns and beiges- usually without any defining uniqueness. Even McDonald's is this coffee shop drab with nothing interesting about it anymore.

@Red Scorpion 6, "people watching", makes me think of "bird watching", lol... It is sad missing out on many things we enjoyed as kids. We used to always go to the local mall on the weekends as a family and sometimes we might go during the week and catch a movie or go shopping. Of course us kids always liked to head straight for the game arcade! Still it was nice seeing some of the car events where cars were inside the building sometimes on turntables. They also had the skating rink which was nice. You could either go out and skate or simply watch others skating and sometimes falling lol, all whilst having some good ole Chick-fil-A as the restaurant was right there and they often had an employee coming out to offer free nugget samples on little toothpicks! I can say, somehow back then those were actually better than nuggets at the local restaurant. Anyway, sometimes the skating rink would be closed temporarily whilst they brought out the Zamboni! Of course there were other snacks nearby. I remember the various peanuts, redskins, cashews, almonds etc., under the heat lamps for a warm snack. Then just beyond it was the "cookie factory" where they had rotating trays in a window displaying chocolate chip and other types of cookies from around 6+ inches in diameter! They were so chewy and melty, lol. Then you had the various dept., stores, Sears/Montgomery Ward, JC Penny etc. Eventually the nearby textile mills had been shut down mostly with only one operating at about half capacity for yrs then it was shut down. All for cheap labor in Mexico. Then after that shut down, Walmart was beginning to pop up and suddenly the mall started seeing businesses close and eventually the mall. The police dept., briefly took up some space there until it was sold, destroyed and of course a Walmart put up in it's place. Sad to see the mall which was more exciting with a variety of businesses/activities being replaced by a single store that is NOT "always lowest prices!!!" which keeps at least 5 related billionaires still living it up whilst dozens of other businesses closed their doors...

@@zenithperigee7442 Thanks for sharing your memories. Apparently we had the same kind of teen years :) I miss hanging out with my friends at the mall. Seeing movies, eating pizza, playing in the arcade or mini-golf. And there was always something going on- like you say a car show, or a concert or art display. Always something happening. I miss the hair styles, the clothing and the colors of the 80's. I really do.
Love your videos!
The MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL
The old candy stand used to sell candy. They were open for less then a year. It was a coffee bean store before that. But when the candy stand closed it stayed closed for 10+ years.
The food court looks like a cafeteria😐😐😐
i think the guy in the beginning played golf, he won the gold jacket ⛳🏌😄
Dead mall series is amazing
I wonder if Dan laughs the whole time he’s editing this lol
One of my favorite mall stories is my Mom and I went to JC penny at Arrowhead mall in Arizona. We went to the furniture section and looked around and as we were about to leave I noticed they had an oculus rift. They had it set up so you could visualize how the furniture would look in whatever space you have. We both got to experience VR for the first time this was in 2017 maybe. I barley go to any malls anymore, I forgot they had such a vibe
Very nice brings back memories
My mom and I used to go shopping at a mall in Northridge ,CA in the 1970s. It was a busy place . The main stores were Sears and Bullocks . I don't even know if it still exists, but I doubt it
Would recommend linking this channel with the other ones. Also I'm kinda suprised this place is still open.
2:24 Ooh, I love Books A Million! There’s a big one twenty minutes from where I now live.

When did people wear hip hugger jeans in 1988? That was the era of "mom" jeans, jeans that went up to your boobs. You're off about 10 years - try the end of the 1970s.
Generic mall (still alive?!?), GREAT music choices and host!
At 6:40 into the video that’s the empty secret base where you fight Team Rocket. Then in the right corner there is a random bed set up which is where you rest your Pokémon.
Hey Dan!! I just recently got into your videos, and I have a mall for you!! It's the Century Three Mall in West Mifflin PA! I was there a few years ago, it is so dead lol. Very cool though!! Love your videos!!

im from the hudson valley but lots of childhood memories at this mall. my grandmother used to live near there. loved the friendly's there, got a few favorite games at the kb toys. when I was older there was a very cool adjacent comic shop. that bookstore was a Borders, also great lol. i can smell pizza crust looking at the food court! last I went I tried on a shirt at Ross that I didn't buy thus bookending my nostalgia. wish I could go back in time!

Do the Glynn Place mall in Brunswick Ga.
Stopped at an outdoor mall twice in past years. Got there 10 minutes before normal 10 AM store openings. I am retired and have bad feet & knees but have a handicap sign to park in handing cap spots. Both times every parking spot nearest the stores were filled with workers cars. I intended to spend at least $500 on clothes at my twice a year clothes shopping. Waited out in the cold for 20 minutes but nobody showed up to open the store that always has at least 3 workers. Will never return to that location.
I just don’t get why malls are dying out.

Who tf is buying a Tony Montana pleather jacket in 2022? This mall is almost as big of a bummer as Logan Valley Mall in Altoona. I visited that place a few months ago during a visit home and it was kind of heartbreaking and I dare say a bit more boring than this one. Spent a lot of time there growing up.

This is REMASTERED? What was it like before? Dan, if you don't want to spring for an expensive Steadycam, then attach your camera (or your wrist if you're using a phone) to a 2ft pice of pipe with a 2 lb weight on the bottom. A side bar for your other hand would be good too. I'm getting seasick watching your swaying video.

So easy to click on a mouse and get something delivered but people are missing out on the experience of going to the mall , used to be a big deal back in the day and was cool looking at all the shops and products in person , plus the social aspect of being at the mall , often you would run into people you knew or even chat it up with a store clerk or stranger ... Seem like the more tech advances the worse society has gotten , America is dying now same with the rest of the West sadly ....
