The Last Breath of Coventry Mall

I got a random tip that the Coventry Mall in Pottstown PA was closing at the very end of 2022, and that either 12/31/22 or 01/01/23 would be its last day open. So I had an opportunity to go on Sunday the 1st and was hoping that I’d be able to fit in. Despite the signs being removed, the mall was open - and very empty. Aside from us, there were a few seniors in the food court lamenting the mall’s sad fate - while we were given the full run of the mall! So come with us as we say goodbye to Coventry Mall.

It's kind of sad to see places that used to be full of life get desolate.

9:06 I grew up around the mall and I don't remember a dunkin donuts ever being in that spot. it was some kind of candy shop for most of it's life. Sad to see the mall go. I had no idea it was closing. glad someone filmed it at least

Used to hang out here as a kid every Friday back in the 00s. It’s been a long time since I’ve been there but holy shit it’s depressing seeing how desolate it is. Not even a single mall-rat wandering.

Pier 1 Chapter 11 May 2020. All 450 stores closed, but I think they are still on line. As for the rest of the mall, they are going to make everything OUTDOOR accessible, with no indoor access? Wow. Back to the 1950's style of shopping outdoors I guess.

This was my stomping grounds as a grade schooler through junior high kid for most of the 80s. Back then, the part of the mall that ended up being the food court was a two screen Fpx Movie Theater. Penn Steaks was still a tenant though, they had a very small store front down near the Sears end.

Those plants need to be rehomed. I always feel bad for abandoned plants that are left to slowly wither away.

You can't compare the experience of going to the mall and online shopping, not me, anyway. I do both, but "in person " gets you out of the house, it's an outing. I believe a mall near me will undoubtedly close, it continues to lose tennants.
