Performance Notes
This battle-of-the-sexes tale, written by the Trinidadian singer/songwriter Norman Span (aka “King Radio”), first reached a larger audience courtesy of Harry Belafonte, whose crossover success launched a Calypso craze in the U.S. in the 1950s (others may remember the song as rendered by the Ricardos and Mertzes on an episode of “I Love Lucy” not long after the Belafonte record hit it big). The Grateful Dead started performing the tune in the early 80s, transporting it stylistically from the Caribbean to the Crescent City by infusing it with that distinctive Mardi Gras mambo feel.

Dead & Company was formed in 2015 when the Grateful Dead’s Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann and Bob Weir joined forces with artist and musician John Mayer, Allman Brothers’ bassist Oteil Burbridge, and Fare Thee Well and RatDog keyboardist Jeff Chimenti. The result was one of the most successful touring bands of the decade. The inaugural tour kicked off in the fall of 2015 with two sold-out shows at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York City and ended with two sold-out performances at the ‘Fabulous’ Forum in Inglewood, California.
Since then, the band has completed five tours, playing to more than 1.5 million fans, and has become a record-breaking stadium act. Dead & Company has headlined iconic stadiums across the country including Folsom Field, Autzen Stadium, Citi Field, Fenway Park and Dodger Stadium. Additionally, the band broke Wrigley Field’s all-time concert attendance record in 2017. Dead & Company’s 2018 Summer Tour ranked in the top 25 of the Top 100 Worldwide Tours and for the past two years, their Summer Tours ranked in the top 15 of the Top Global Concert Tours.

Wow!! How I miss the summers I spent for 12 years off following the boys all over the country. The days of my misguided youth. Was at this show. From the opening cords and Philly Phil’s smile we all knew we were in for alittle bit of magic. These days are truly missed. So just look up to sky and listen and you just might hear that magic we all remember. Nothing left to do but Smile Smile Smile.
Everyone is exactly where they are supposed to be , man or woman!
Brent was just anazing.. He brought such energy to this band!

Hoping they bust this out this summer
They should really think about moving Jeff to the other side of the stage so we can get more of that Jeff and John show.

Fuckn Bill quit.
How many god damn times can Bob adjust the knobs? It's compulsive. No need for two drummers -- redundant and muddies the sound. Love J. Mascis on keyboards.
I d loved the GD as my very own heart and soul since I was 14...I’m in my 40s now I am borderline dismayed by this current ‘reincarnation’. I Love Bobby, Bill, Mick... but dear Jesus why the fuck is John Mayer up there beyond anything more than a one off guest sit in ?!?

novakaya He is doing the music justice. He is paying respect to every note, and to Jerry. He is very passionate about the music, and very talented. He stays in the pocket as well. I am 43, and have loved the Dead since I was 15. I have not enjoyed anything they have put together since Jerry passed, but this, with Mayer, is fun!

Sorry, I've been to these shows, it's now 2021, seen enough, heard enough. It's okay, but ..... and I get it. Mayer is a fantastic guitar player, but he's a douche. I'm a purist, and I know we shouldn't compare EVER. I just can't get there. Not like I could. The mystique is long gone. I just can't seem to go where I was able to when it was REAL. GOD BLESS BOBBY, MICKEY, AND BILLY. I know it has it's moments, but NO. I love music so I won't poo poo ALL OF IT, BUT NO! Enough of John Mayer. The thrill is gone. Jerry left the building so long ago, and for me, it's just not... just not there. Seems to be about super expensive tickets, for mediocre music. They have been riding Jerry's coat tails long enough. God bless the poor people who never got to be a part of the true magic and love Jerry brought. Rather see Bobby by himself with an acoustic, even Rat Dog. Just enough of Mayer now. Sorry, I don't mean to offend anyone, and I guess it's true WHEN THE WORLD IS RUNNING DOWN... YOU MAKE THE BEST OF WHAT'S STILL AROUND. Watered down to the point where it's just not for me.

The vast population of the world lives in poverty (like less than a dollar a day) and many dont even have that ! I just thank God that I have music at all .... and the 4 core are still performing (in various forms) and bringing more soulmates into the fold to carry what Jerry and his teenage buddys started back in the mid 60s ... Let It Rock !

hey man, John Mayer may not be the poster child for groovy, but he Is doing a hell of a job, just look at the other members and their i, nteractions I went to a lot of dead shows for the music, not the scene, but yeah, the old feeling of a show is not there. this isn't John Mayer's fault. he just needs to miss a few lyrics and hit a couple bad notes. and jerry is out spinning in the stars not rotten in the ground. man, you don't get it. jerry did his thing and was fuck all about controlling others. the band is sounding great, mr, sir @@CaptainsOrders
