Nice guide and perfect recommendations. People forgetting to disconnect the ground power is the funniest thing to watch. Fun fact, but the GPU was shaped the way it is because it could be carried on Station 3 for remote operations! Great addition to the server and I’m so happy to see the community embracing it!

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, honestly probably just missed it. If you want to change the photo in the cockpit look in the -- c:\Users\......\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Mods\Aircraft\A-4E-C\Cockpit\Textures -- folder there is a PNG file named "a4e_cockpit_photo" it is easy to edit, and makes it more 'your' plane.

A4 has been the best thing done to the server in a long time. Yes, even better than Hexmania. Please do not remove it or stick a nerfdoe in the tailpipe. It has redressed the stack issue which occurred with the inclusion of the Mirage, gives Blue a ground attack option that is not painfully slow or specialized for deep precisions strike, and provides Red a challenge because it is difficult to identify if it is on a CAP or CAS configuration. It is cold war, not OP, has interesting features and a dedicated fanbase. It will probably be eclipsed by the F4 when released anyway so keep it as it is.

I’m pretty sure they are going to have to restrict the F-4 big time, since it’s the E model. Which means it could be capable of carrying AIM120’s and AGM88’s. Also the Aim7F and Aim9M which the latter is just a few tiny upgrades away from the X. It’s gonna need to be nerfed to only use 1960’s/early 70’s weapons. Since the Cold War lasted until the 90s and most of the aircraft on the server didn’t last that long or see as many upgrades up to that time.

I know a guy on Quora who answers a lot of aviation questions. He was a Pilot in the Navy decades ago. Flew the A-4, F-4 and F-14. He once said that his favorite and the most fun to fly was the A-4. So that says a lot.

A4 currently is my favorite Cold War airplane. I am excited for the F-4 phantom and perhaps the MiG-23 but until they come out this has been my favorite for Cold War. Thank you for adding this to a popular server.

The F4B/C mod isn’t bad at all. I think the only difference really will be the Heatblue model has an AI WSO and it’s the E model. But I’ve had some fun with the VSN F4 on MP servers.

It is my favorite jet, period....and perhaps my favorite plane. (The Jug is getting a lot of my flight time right now.) The Scooter is just SO much fun.

The huffer bug is so strange. Can never isolate what causes it to stick on and not properly detach. I need to look back into that. One other tip regarding landing - once you hit the tarmac and the spoilers are deployed, put the flaps UP - this reduces the effective weight of the airframe making it easier to brake to a stop.

Similar problem in the F-4B. If you don’t disconnect air supply before moving the aircraft will think it’s still attached and you’ll have the warning light for Aux Air.

Just take the whole ground crew team with you. I'd bet they'd have a blast...

love that this jet was added to your server. The A-4 is the gold standard when it comes to mods. It is in my opinion 90%+ of what I expect a paid module to be.

I think you made a good decision to include it.

Shrike Strike! The over whelming joy I felt when hitting a SA-8 and shilka on a single salvo is hard to describe. I did notice however i had a hard time picking up ship radars though. It almost felt I had point my nose 180 degrees right or left to pick up tone with the AGM-45

It wasn't designed to hit ship radars, mainly the sa-2 and similar stuff, so I would expect it to be wierd with ship radars.

@@ttpechon2535 Yeah that may be the case. I will say though the Ship is using SA-8s which is what Shrike is able to hit on land so ... idk it should be able to pick up the targeting radar at least.

Thankyou for adding this Mod to the server, I have been waiting for this for a while. Its the best aircraft in DCS !

It is amazing how many cool, little features are modelled into a free community mod, yet are missing from our paid core/3rd party modules. It both shows the amazing potential of DCS and the limits of ED's current pricing model that we don't have more stuff like this. I've been thrilled to have the A-4 on the server, and it's been an absolute blast to fly against. Would love to see it flip to Red/Argentina during the Caucasus rotation!

The A-4 is an excellent addition! I’ve been wanting to play on your server for ever but I didn’t want to have to purchase a 60 dollar module that I would only really use on your server so this is great!

Whoa! I just started landing the A4 consistently and not flying off the runway, but that spoiler button will definitely help me out!

This is great! I have come to find the hard way that there are some other channels out there that very obviously breeze through familiarizing themselves with the aircraft in question and end up teaching us noobs on the tube very wrong information (particularly regarding those little nuances that come with unforeseen or seemingly unrelated consequences). However I do agree, @SportDCS channel has quickly become a very near and dear friend (it's a one-sided affair) in my a-4 learning adventures!

Another excellent source for the A4 is Iain Christie's channel. Super detailed and proficient tutorials on the skyhawk.

Great vid, dodn't know about the 3x charging on guns. One thing- the spoilers will auto retract on takeoff. No need to manually retract.

What happens? I used to fly the JF-17 but it has been a few years.

The A4 is the only plane I have to fly on Enigmas server. Will you ad the F4 once it's released?

One other tip for the a-4 is listen to the banging sound as you put gs on the aircraft. That is your main over g indicator since your real one is blocked by the hud.

If I wanna lose more hair, I'll be sure to play this plane.

I've been flying the A-4 for many months now, and I was scared to join the server, now seeing those people, not so much anymore. lol Edit: I hope the A-4 doesn't get labeled as the noob plane, where people who know nothing fly and do stupid things.

@@David-sitka-oldduffer Yah I've heard Enigmas server smashes fps, and taxing in the A-4 is rather difficult, I tied it to my twist grip on my joystick, which makes it much easier. You'd think people would practice in single player though, ironing out their controls and learning how the stuff works, guess not!

We are averaging 1.18 team kills per hour on the A-4 since its introduction which is much lower than what we were expecting. The mod maker told me that quite a lot of people downloaded the mod when we announced. So in general, it has been a smooth launch.

@@Enigma89 Is that only because they see the Su-27 replacement? Still surprising given SU27 is not on the aircraft list and overlord calling Skyhawk. Though they may have the mod and think its a MiG or something... I got TK yesterday in a Su25 close range so maybe it's just likely for all planes...

Hey Enigma, there seems to be an issue with the Mig-19 on your server, when you autostart it only one engine starts and then the procedure just stops weirdly

The 2nd engine takes much longer to start up, it's faster to manually start that one unfortunately.

@Enigma ok, but it's just that in other servers this problem doesn't exist. When I started it in the Aerobatics server it started just fine. But on your server the first one starts, then the second one seems to try and just fails

Re: Spoilers… arm for takeoff in case of a reject. Disarm after TO. Arm again to land. CARRIER OPS…. ALWAYS DISARM.

Can anybody answer me a qusetion ? im new and got a problem with my sidewinders + guns. when im in the "Bomb & GM arm" mode im supposed to fire my 20mm guns with the trigger and the missles with weapon release or ? but if i select 1 and 5 for sidewinders and got my 20mm loaded i allways shot both 20mm and Aim9 togehter with my triger, instead separated. is there a solution instead of allways turning of my pillons 1 and 5 if i just want to shot my 20mm ?

@@Enigma89 yes i saw that but you explaned it the other way around that you dont shoot 20mm while shooting missles. but i got a problem when i just want to shot 20mm gun but without shooting missles. Every time i got pillon 1 and 5 active i cant just shot my gun without shooting the missles too.

Do you use track ir or vr which one is better for a budget setup?

I think it's a thing from FC3, not sure. Then again you need engines off to arm with FC3 and you don't with A-4.. It's a bit frustrating that it is not consistent between all of the modules.

Got it, so SOUL is a word you think is a synonym for "near useless." Got it. Mad props for adding A4, and the pheonix. You got a script by any chance to make sure blufor has useful tankers by any chance? Every time I played online and wanted to refuel the tankers were either empty and still flying their course, not responsive but flying their course like they weren't useless, or it's a KC135 flying so out of the way that it's faster and more fuel efficient to fly to the carrier to land and refuel than to try and intercept the tanker.

Why dont to train flying while SP? you have the time to learn this beautiful plane , the strengths, the problems and the handling. Using the training grounds for rocket an bomb aiming. I will never understand, why there are so many guys, with lots of money for ultra riggs, buying the F-14 and thinking this is war thunder. Every combat pilots learns how to fly, how to shoot and how to dealing with faults. It takes you some frustrating.

Still rolls quicker than any other module and even The Marmite Man rolling Marmite jars around spam cans, but I got twice as much control over the thing. Good enough. Using an FFB2 here that hasn't as much throw as most modern sticks have, so it really makes it better for me.

Meh. It's a mod. It breaks the integrity check so then I need to faff to join other clean servers. I'm at the age where I cannot be bothered to faff and tinker. I appreciate click n join.

@@JNelson_ its garbage. a 60's jet based on the SU27. mods brake the game. I enjoy the purity of ECW. if you add this mod you can just as well add the F104, and a few redfor mods too.
