Day 59: Short Stop in Twin Lakes / CDT Thru-hike 2024

I intend to hike the Continental Divide Trail (CDT) in 2024 and will vlog my experience. Follow me under "Old Man and the CDT."
I am Mike Current, 61-years-old, and retired military. I served for over 30 years in the US Army.
After retirement, I opened two small businesses. But after a few years, I sold both businesses because they were taking time away from pursuing personal goals, like hiking and sailing.
I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) in 2020 and Appalachian Trail (AT) in 2022. I vlogged (video journaled) my experiences under "Old Man and the PCT" and "Old Man and the AT", respectively.
I sailed around the Chesapeake Bay in my Tayana 37 sailboat over the summer of 2023 and vlogged the experience under the KZread channel "Old Man and the Sea."
I do not monetize my videos in any manner. However, if you would like to contribute to helping veterans thru-hike as a form of therapy for PTSD, please consider donating to Warrior Expeditions at warriorexpeditions.org/

Great looking town, Twin Lakes. Signs in the sand are always important to pay attention to, I’m glad you were looking down. As always, beautiful scenery. Thanks for filming and sharing.

When, in the video today, I saw one of your fellow hikers wearing shorts with an ice ax hanging on his pack, it dawned on me that you must be prepared for 4 seasons of weather conditions when hiking the CDT due to the varied landscapes (from deserts to snow-covered mountains) and the elevation changes. Also noteworthy were the beer choices of All-American Energizer and European Early Bird.😉

Love the Twin Lake General Store. Got a fleece jacket from there that I wear almost daily. Best jacket ever.

Good morning, Mike. Of course it rained at the beginning and end of the video. You've gotten wet a lot. Great video. Great tramily. They keep an eye out for you. Beautiful scenery. Neat little town set up. Glad it was a good day for you. Take care. Stay safe. See you tomorrow.

I remember the Twin Lakes General store having really good prices for Colorado beers. I had a few. Ha. Looks like your hike is coming along really well.

Aspen's are my absolute favorite tree, and PBR is probably the worst beer I've ever had. I can't believe I drank it when I was younger. (It was cheap and I could buy it with my allowance money) I'm not sure why people think it's a good trail magic beer? I'm definitely a craft beer, IPA, Stout aficionado. I'd rather drink water than PBR. Doing great Mike!
