I am eer so grateful for this education in my faith. I only wish I had invested my time fully when I was younger, and avoided many pitfalls, I now can see in scripture how clear the warnings and encouragement are to do good in the sight of the Lord. Journey on.

Day 191 _ The Babylonian exile - Tuesday July 9th, 2024. Thank you Father Mike Schmitz and Ascension Presents / Press. Deo gratias.

This was an amazing biblical lesson! Thank you!

Lord Jesus, I humbly pray for myself, Father Mike, & all the people participating in the Bible-in-Year podcast. May your word take deep root in our hearts & transform our ways of thinking, discerning, and acting. May your grace open our ears to hear & understand both the Old & the New Testaments that we may revere & treasure the words which God has prepared for all who desire to enter his kingdom. Send us your Holy Spirit to give us the Spirit of Knowledge, that we may know God and know ourselves. Give us the grace to approach the Word of God with meekness & humility, & with an eagerness to do everything God desires. Help us to be diligent students & faithful disciples of your Word. May our hearts never grow dull & may our ears never tire of listening to your voice. Amen.

Praying for Fr. Mike & BIY 🙏🙏🙏 Looking forward to starting the Prophets.

An important reminder of how God knows our future and He cares for us as evident from the prophecy of Judah returning from exile. *Ezekiel ch12- God's net spread over Zedekiah and brought him to Babylon but he won't see it. It came true as Babylon King Nebuchadnezzer slew his sons in front of his eyes (very harsh) and then took out his eyes (extremely inhumane) before taking him to Babylon. * Fr. Mike is so right about the connections throughout the books. God predicted that the lost sabbath days (the days dedicated to worship) will be returned to Judah. This was predicted even before Cyrus made it compulsory for Judah to observe the sabbath days. * Exile does have a theme of hope amidst bad results of bad deeds. Zedekiah didn't repent when Nebuchadnezzer told him to do it. Thus, it seems that even the kings outside Judah were aware of the importance of following what forefathers did but Zedekiah didn't remember King David and how he was faithful. At least he should have repented like Manassah. *All of this is connected with Jesus and the power of repentance. Thank you so much, Fr. Mike and Team Ascension. Always praying that our brothers and sisters in Christ will strive to learn the true teachings of scripture and find themselves at Home with the Catholic Church!!

I started BIAY on January 1st 2023, hoping to finish this journey in 2024.

Thank You Fr Mike so very much for guiding us through these bible studies. I recently learned of a condition happening in my heart that I have never heard of before and I’ve been a nurse for 50 years. While I’ve always been very strong in my faith I’m learning so much through these Bible readings. I’m also finding strength. So again thank you so very much.

There are so many parallels to be drawn between then and our present day. We have to continue the fight for the truth, even when the hope will not be realized in this world or in our lifetime.

God help me to walk in hope because You conquered death.❤

Interesting to hear the role of the Chaldeans in the Bible. I am Chaldean and never knew this took place. Loving the history and the Bible in a year with Father Mike. May God bless him and all those commiting to the Bible in a Year!!

July 10, 2023 Round Two Please pray for Souls in Purgatory. Go ahead, just take about 30 seconds to help save a soul that maybe is your family member or friend! Go forth and help save! Here is the prayer: (According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory.) The Prayer of St. Gertrude Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family.
Amen. God would reply to St. Gertrude that He would use whatever was offered to Him for the faithful departed, according to His inclination to show pardon & mercy.

It never ceases to amaze me how you can pronounce all those names!

Lord, You are our friend. Thank you for speaking to us in so many different ways - through your creation, your word and in prayer. Remind us to commune with you, the importance of being in a fellowship of believers and having ears ready to listen. May we always be discerning your will and readily turn to you when we fall off the right path. Thank you for calling us back! 🙏🏻

Thank You Father Mike for sharing the Bible with all of us. It is a true blessing to be able tot understand the word of our Lord. It helps us to grow closer to our God. Praying for Father Mike and anyone else who is in need of prayers

As we go along, with each day, I feel like I am learning more and more about the Old Testament. Let's keep praying for Father Mike and each other for God to illuminate us to better understand the readings.

Wow! This made me cry and reflect more. How the Lord waits us always, but our stubborn heart makes us to go through horrible situation in our lives. Forgive us Lord and open our eyes to see you present and change our attitudes to follow your Commandments faithfully. Thank you Fr. Mike.

Suggestion: it has been such a blessing to have the whole picture of the story of salvation this year with the Bible in a Year. Next year it would be nice to see the Catechism of the Catholic Church in a year. People is hungry for formation! All the Ascension Presents videos are great! Father Mike and Jeff Cavins million thanks for this great work!

I'm going to have to go through this entire Bible in a year or two or three times . I don't have many distractions but it's hard to follow with so many names of people and places.

I can’t remember when I started listening and reading along to the Bible in Year but I know it was sometime in May…. Just reached 191… phew what a wonderful journey 🙏

Very dark and tragic history of the Jewish people killed or carried into exile. However, after 70 years, King Cyrus of Persia sends the Jewish people back and restores the Temple. The people will rise from the ashes of Jerusalem.

Praying. Near the end of your conversation sometimes I get confused. Praying to stay focused. 🙏

What happened to the Ark? Maybe some wise people saw what was happening and hid it?

What happened to the Ark during this time?

Father Mike - wasn't the tribe of Levi primarily operating the Temple in Jerusalem but also governing those cities of refuge? When we say 10 tribes of the North are gone away, does that include Levi? If so, then when the Temple is rebuilt who does the Temple duties as only Judah and Benjamin remain?

Only the poor people were left behind - that’s interesting.

Are you going to do a series on Revolutions?

I look at the exile as being a good thing. The Israelites and their kings angered God so He taken away from them their land and scattered them. Again this happens with the Jews and their kings of Judah but God spared the tribes of Judah and Benjamin given them the opportunity to return to Him. It's only through their suffering they realize what they lost. Of course the Messiah they were hoping for wasn't what He turned out to be they believe a king would come to give back to them their land. This obviously is not the Messiah we recognize as Christians in which our King and His Kingdom will never perish.

2 Chronicles 36:9 Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he came to the throne... Fr Mike mentioned "eight years old" or is it that the caption is incorrect..... appreciate if Ascenion BIAY team could clarify which is correct. Thanks. sorry to be picky, but this podcast is going to be here forever...

Looks like Fr Mike read it correctly. My copy of the Great Adventure Bible says eight, so it is a typographical error there.
