DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES (End of Humanity, Ape Dominion + Ending) EXPLAINED

Ойын-сауық

Hollywood, bless its unoriginal heart, continues to churn out reboots and sequels that don’t improve on the original properties, clinging to the coattails of past glories like they've got a fear of the new.
Adapted from Pierre Boulle’s novel, the original five-film marathon kicked off in '68 with Charlton Heston and Roddy McDowall under heaps of ape makeup. The twist ending? Earth itself was the "distant futuristic planet." Fast forward through some sequels, each more inventive and slightly bonkers than the last, and you've got yourself a franchise.
Then came Burton’s 2001 attempt, a reboot that felt more like a sleepwalk through the original, minus the punch of its twist ending. It was like watching a magician pull a rabbit out of a hat, only the rabbit’s dead, killed by the magician’s assistant.
However, in 2011, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" came along, which we covered last week, followed by "Dawn". Like a glimmer of hope in a sea of creative bankruptcy, they're a masterclass in how to breathe new life into a tired franchise. Instead of rehashing the same old story, the films zoom out for the long view, detailing how Earth became a planet of apes, starting from our own era. They demonstrated that you don't need to cling to the past; sometimes, a fresh start, a tight script and a focus on character development is all you need to tell a gripping story.

In Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes the synopsis said that the ape antagonist Proximus Caesar is searching for lost human technology to improve his power. Im betting it's going to be guns because in the original ape films they seemingly constructed their own fire arms whereas in Dawn and War the apes just scavenged them. So now in Kingdom maybe they want to learn how to also manufacture guns themselves

I always loved that it wasnt entirety Koba's fault for the eventual war for the planet of the apes, Koba was actually content and peaceful before the humans came, and even then he only wanted to show ape strength to protect apes. It was Caesar's overly trust and somewhat gullibility towards humans that really sparked the conflict.

This is a film master class. Koba is my fav character in these series. His life was nothing but pain, suffering and torture.....that leaves scars that sometimes cannot be healed. He has huge distrust for the humans, and for those sympathetic to them. Ceasar experienced a good life up until his intelligence allowed him to see he was bound by chains even though "free" and not a pet. Ceasar has distrust but not to the extent of koba. Koba is damaged and for sure a looking glass into what abuse can do to a man. Make him bitter, violent and angry. I very much resonated with this as my life not easy, many people I trusted broke it, hurt me and left me to deal with the scars. This breeds an aversion to authority in a big way. Even when it is detrimental to the group. Empathy for koba is only for his fellow apes who suffered as he did. He sees Ceasar as one of the lucky ones who didn't get treated terribly. Hence his growing resentment to Ceasar's path of peace. Koba is tough because he had to be. To him by about the midway of the film he sees Ceasar as soft, not for to lead and too trusting of men who hurt him so badly. Toby kebble brings out in koba so well, I found myself rooting for koba even though I knew he was the antagonist. It's such a stark look at humans and how everyones experiences in life tends to shape who they are in adults. We have all known broken men.....men who have troubles controlling their anger and frustrations even when it isn't warranted or overreacted. I love Ceasar but koba is my fav character in this series. He's smart, calculated all be it flawed in his approach and the abuse he suffered shaped him to be distrusting of everyone including his own race. I feel this from time to time towards humans. Empathy is lacking today, we are so divided over silly and stupid issues that really means nothing in the grand scheme of our race. Hate breeds hate. Only love can over come that. Koba doesn't have the capacity to love even the ape who opened his eyes and set him free. His distrust doesn't allow him too. The balcony scene is brutal, he is broken in this moment. Ceasar could get the apes to follow him by being wise, empathetic and loving. Koba chose violence and fear. It's such a damn good film. Best in the series. Bar none

Eh. The simian flu is at least created with some realism. Roanoke’s video on it basically sums it up as, the virus would inevitably mutate, becoming less severe, and do the original job of stimulating neurogenesis. However, seeing how humans have already reached their natural peak with brain size, it would only slow us down, and inevitably reverse the evolution of human intelligence. And since it’s a retrovirus, like HIV, it passes from mother to child. So every generation will become inpaired

My girlfriend and I were bored one day looking for a movie and we came across the first POTA remake and fucking loved it so naturally we immediately watched the second one. As per trilogies we didn't expect much but we were blown away. Both of us were sobbing by the end. We had to take an emotional break before the third one cause we were distraught about all of the monks we came to love dying. After the third one it cemented itself as my favorite trilogy I've seen in years. The kind of movies that make you question how human mankind is.

I really like the new Apes movies for 2 reasons: 1) it shows real human natures about prejudices. People will discriminate against other people all day long whether by race, religion, so on. But if you were to drop a non-human group there they’d drop their prejudices against each other to apply them to the non-humans immediately. 2) the conflicts and politics strongly mirror real-life struggles with people, wars, etc. it’s shows how complex situations are and no one’s at fault.

It is so easy to see when someone who cares about the sources material making a brilliant movie. Sadly so many today hate the originals and their sequel/prequels show it in their terrible movies.

I thot I was gonna hate the new trilogy but I ended up loving it a lot more than I didn't. Yeah it has its problems, most of which are the apes being too nice to the humans lol, but overall a good trilogy especially today
