I just though of something. So after that happens the a party member convinces the enemy that you were a meat puppet controlled by the squirrels. But only 1 of them is smart the rest just take orders. And have the squirrels run away to make the bad guys worry.

It's like 4 CR 2 or lower creatures. Just 4, you wouldn't get that many minor creatures.

My wife loves Circle of the Shepherd and has a fondness for badgers. Imagine an army of angry honey badgers tearing into the enemy!

16 wolves? Those are weak numbers. For me, it’s 32 velociraptors that each have multi attack and pack tactics. That’s 128 dice that need to be rolled before the next persons turn

If you're having trouble making an evil druid, remember that nature can also be destructive and horrifying, like wildfires, parasites, disease, and winters so long and brutal it forces people and animals alike to do horrible things to survive. Also, I think that the reason there are so few subclasses for druid, and why it's so hard to come up with thematically diverse druid characters, is because the base class is way too specific in its flavor. The definition of a druid could be scaled back just a tiny bit, and that would really open up the design space.

I'm pretty sure there's a fungal/spore druid in UA that can easily be evil/cult leader to Zygmitoid. And yes circle of the land, arctic druid who spreads winter is basically the Ice Witch for all low-mid lever adventurers to kill and save a town/country. Or have the druids want to reclaim nature and have their cult circles go out and find dangerous artifacts that boost the power of plants/animals/fungus to overrun towns and cities. Or a druid completely off their rocker who's wisdom is so deep, it mutated into becoming incomprehensible and esoteric, leading to them unwittingly causing destruction and doom in their wake.

@@jemm113 The circle of spores is official and certainly has the feel to it. Also, the circle of dreams is a thing and we all know just how much fey enjoy fucking with people.

Okay since the 9th level version of Conjure Animals allows for four times the amount of animals to be summoned. Normally, you can summon exactly 8 instances of 1/4 CR beasts. Now, a Swarm of Bats is 1/4 challenge rating. They are of Medium size, so I will assume that the bats take up a 5 ft x 5 ft x 5 ft area. This equals 125 cubic feet. This means one Swarm of Bats takes up 125 cubic feet per swarm. Now, with a 1st level Spell Slot, you could only summon 8 of these buggers. 125 times 8 equals 1000 cubic ft. Now, we can summon four times this with a 9th level Spell Slot. This means that, as it stands, you can summon 32 individual Swarms of Bats, meaning that, upon defeat, you may summon *4000 cubic ft of bats.* Edit: For reference, that is the size of some houses Edit 2: Cubic, not square

Circle of Shepherd, get to lvl 14 transform into a chicken...go around town to see if an elf would dare hit you Faithful companion works off hitting 0hp, wild shape ends with the same effect. Once you drop to 0 Summon another few swarms of chickens (using swarm of ravens stats)..

Druids are really fun and underplayed they're great utility characters. You might not be the star of the show but you'll be everyone's best friend.

Since Conjure Woodland beings creates three times as many fey creatures when using an 8th level spell slot, and Sea Hags are CR 2 fey, this means that if you cast Conjure Woodland Creatures at 8th lvl you can have an entire coven of Sea Hags that are friendly to you and your companions for an entire hour.

I think that at lvl 20 circle of the moon druids are the best spellcasters other than mystic, they can wild shape infinitely to a beast with a cr of 6 with wild shape being a bonus action, they can heal hp in wild shape as a bonus action, then when they get put back into their regular form they can just keep transforming back into another shape infinitely, on top of that they can always cast their spells while in shape form, if you pair this with a feat like tough they will probably never die.

@@KeshavKrishnan compare it to a high level character, their wild shape may be tanky, but not as tanky as a frontliner. You only have to weaken them a little and then take them out for good, since druids are healers thats two birds with a stone

Let’s not forget that the Druid is the tankiest class in the game, because a Moon Druid at level 2 has the ability to wild shape twice before they’re out of charges and can become CR 1 monsters. This includes things like the Dire Wolf, which has a health pool average of 34. Which means that you effectively become a Final Fantasy boss, with each form having its own health pool that the enemy has to drop before they can hurt your real body, AND you can just regen your health by burning the spell slots your weren’t going to use anyways because you’re a Dire Wolf.

Now I definitely want to try a Circle Of The Shepherd or Circle Of The Dream Druid.

Let's not forget that a Circle of the Moon Druid and pretty much any kind of Barbarian multi-class is the one of the best combos for tanking. Like ever. You can have an effective hp of a couple hundred, by like eighth level.

You know one time I played in a group that didn't have a front line fighter so I told them I'd play a druid to be a front line fighter and they looked at me like I was some kind of moron till they realized the the combination of the druids spells and their wild shapes makes them really good at crowd control and gives makes them stupid tanky not to mention all of the crazy stuff you can get into with druid spells seriously find familiar and stone meld is awesome

I love Runesmiths description of the final Shepard ability with 4 giant buff polar bears rushing in to beat the ever loving shit out of the boss when the Druid goes down

what are the other two? personally i'd go with matt colville, runehammer and dawnforged cast for DMs. xp to level 3, dont stop thinking, and davvy chappy for players. of course there are a ton of names i wanna drop but if we're going with a three-name format, these are the ones i'd tell people to hit up first. your mileage may vary.

My favorite race for druid is lizardfolk. I know thematically speaking a circle of the land druid, specifically swamp would make sense for it but I want to try circle of spores.

You know a while back I had this idea for a Lovecraftian druid subclass called "Circle of Dark Fertility" and it was based around the druid being a worshiper of Shub-Niggurath and seeking to corrupt/replace nature with a twisted eldritch version of itself

Druid: “I’m an actually committed to being a furry/hippy. Unlike those ranger twats.” Land: Ranger+wizard kind of but not really Moon: Even bigger furry Dreams: Totally not a paladin crazy about elves Shepherds: Protecc everyone!!

I think one of the reasons as to why the Druid used to have so few archetypes compared to other classes was probably due to the existence of the Circle of the Land. The land Druid is like a bunch of mini archetypes in one and it would have just felt kind of bloated if each one was it's own archetype.

Circle of the Moon Druid You can turn into a grizzly bear, sure at first you can't cast spells while in bear form for a LONG time but your spellslots now act as a self healing bullet that you use as a bonus action.

One of my favorite characters was Kirvin, my Shadar Kai Shepherd Druid. I might try to create a Druid Circle based on him on D&D Beyond because holy shit he was a mad lad

First thing that popped into my head on reading the Shepherd circle druid's faithful summons ability let you summon in 4 beats of CR2 or lower was "Hey, an Allosaurus is CR2... I can spawn in a squad of frikking 2 ton carnivorous dinosaurs when I'm dropped! LOL I really have got to try that some day! Sure they're not going to last that long against sonething that can put down a level 14 Druid, but if nothing else you can use the bodies as cover for the rest of the party.

*hears the description for the Circle of the Shepard.* ... Me: "Like eeeeeevery tree..."

Take one level of Life Cleric first, then rake in those healing bonuses for Goodberry, Healing Spirit, etc.

Used a Shepherd Druid to take down a Beholder by when he was taken down underneath it by it's minion, the Summon Woodland Creatures fired off and four polar bears came falling onto it, grappling it by latching into it's eye stalks and using their combined weight to hold it close to the ground for the others.

My favorite thing about wild shape is that no rules stop you from having a burrowing speed so by all means go and shape in a badger and be the tunnel rat you wanna be and burrow ur ass below ur enemies for a brilliant surprise attack. IM THE LORAX AND I SPEAK FOR THE TREES AND THE TREES ARE TELLING ME TO BITE UR KNEES

I just had a thought - many talk about Life Cleric dips or Druid/Rangers but ask a Forge Cl/be one and you can craft non metal armor. Even without Med Armor Expert that's Half-plate + Shield for 19 AC stock, possibly 20 with Blessings of the Forge. Another troll build might be Sorcerer 3/Grass Druid X - twin Haste Baby!

This class is so damn strong right now.

The typical answer of raw is that a chickens stats are the same of a ravens. So a swarm of ravens would be a swarm of chickens. Thus, at 9th level. The druid can summon 32 swarms. Not 32 chickens. 32 SWARMS

I think that what this class is missing is a Circle of the Sea and Circle of the Storm. They are both very important aspects of nature and I am surprised that they still haven’t touched on this.

Did you say that being a fey arbiter was a druidic aspect you wouldnt normally think of? Because when you pick druid that's effectively your occupation and i have no idea why they made it it's own archetype.

druids are all about the regular material plane wilderness and the fey is like the super duper wilderness so dreams druids are like druids squared. they probably wouldn't give anywhere near as much of a shit about the regular wilderness as other druids cuz to them it's about as wild as civilization is to regular druids.

Isn't there also UA for an urban Land druid? That would be closer to historical druids. Druids lived in fortified cities, they were the masters of Celtic law and served as advisors to kings, at the very heart of civilization. The Life Cleric and Knowledge Cleric archetypes would probably be better D&D analogues that the actual Druid class.

Elves already have a reduced aging speed of 1 year per decade. I wonder if this stacks with the Druid's ability? Because if so, that would extend their natural lifespan to somewhere over 6,000 years!

Any thoughts of making a new video with the new options from different books like circle of spores or the order cleric?

I have a druid thought up, who is a tiny mute teenager girl who transforms into a giant snail. She'd be the tank/healer. :) Not sure whether circle of dreams or circle of shepherd (with a unicorn totem) would be better for a healer though...

If you haven't decided, I'd go with Dreams. They have such an interesting flavor and the ability to heal your friends without spell slots frees up your spell slots for AOE spells or CC.

The Moon Druid is level 2, not level 3, to get that CR 1 Brown Bear form. Druids are level 2 for their subtypes not 1 or 3 like the other classes.

hey, you wanna fight god and win? play barbarian/druid. specifically bear totem barbarian/moon druid. either 14/6 with barbarian for the first 14, then druid for the last 6, or you can switch that with 16/4 druid/barbarian, or 17/3 still druid/barbarian.
