    Mimmikyu also, a dragon can be whatever the creator of a world wants them to be. For example, people always say that Skyrim dragons aren’t actually dragons due to their shape, but 1. There aren’t wyvern in the elder scrolls (at least as far as I’m aware) and 2. The people that made the world said they are dragons.

    It's my personal policy that any personality traits of a race/species are to be treated as tendencies. A lot of Chromatic Dragons are malicious but not all of them. The possibility of outliers is not only more realistic, but it also makes for really fun story beats.

    Jared Hite I think either is possible. In a 4e adventure, there was a shadow dragon who turned to evil after being influenced by Shar, but if the players could break her control, the shadow dragon would be good again. Besides, the rules for the shadow dragon template don't have anything explicit about changing the original creature's alignment, while other templates or variants do. I think it's ultimately up to the DM's call: has the darkness dulled the metallic glimmer of the dragon's goodness, or do they revel in the macabre beauty that the Shadowfell has to offer?

They are gonna get married and live a happy life with their adopted bronze dragon daughter. This party has a bard, and the WIZARD seduced a dragon, without even trying or rolling a single dice. It likes to begin combat with an ambush and has a charge that knocks prone. It can pin with a supply of immoveable rods. Its front claws have been enchanced with magic swords. It also gets 5 actions -- bite, claw 1, claw 2, stomp, tail, per round. This is actually downgraded. The original got 8 actions per round. It's motivation? Problem is like Dr. Manhattan, they don't give two flying fucks about any collateral damage. And their younger ones; like any radicalized teens and tweens in the 2020s prefer to have a more direct involvement with the world though The Chamber; a faction that depending on the game can either be an ally to the players or an antagonist.

    I really want a dragon source book mainly so that 5e could have the steel dragons, which are my favourite dragon type. They didn't hoard gold, or gems or anything like that they hoarded experiences and skills, and stories. Basically the steel dragon would polymorp into a mortal race and lock away their memory of being a dragon, and live a life as a mortal, and at the end of their life they gather all everything they learned and keep it in their hoard. They then forget their past life and go onto their next.

    Wyverns are very similar to dragons, and in many languages, cultures and contexts no clear distinction is made between the two. Since the sixteenth century, in English, Scottish, and Irish heraldry, the key difference has been that a wyvern has two legs, whereas a dragon has four. However, this distinction is not commonly observed in the heraldry of other European countries, where two-legged dragon-like creatures being called dragons is entirely acceptable. Two legged dragons existed long before the "wyvern" distinction was invented. Saying a dragon is distinct from a wyvern is only true if you're writing in the context of early-modern period Britain. To try and force this distinction on cultures and histories several thousand years older is strenuous as best. The concept of a wyvern being separate from a dragon didn't even exist in the medieval period, which most fantasy settings (including D&D) are based on, so the argument that it is "lore-accurate" just stems from ignorance. Also in the 5e MM Wyverns are labelled as dragons..

  • @Ditidos

    @Ditidos

    4 жыл бұрын

    Well, it is also dependeng on the setting. I think that in the world of D&D scholars make that distintiction between dragons and wyverns but this distinction doesn't apply to every fictional world ever (they are obviously nonsensical in Tamriel, Westeros or the ARK, for example).

    Ebberron was created by dragons! The good dragon syberis, the neutral dragon ebberron and the evil dragon Khyber formed their own place where the outer planes could not reach them. Khyber shattered syberis into a bunch of shards, so ebberron bound Khyber. Syberis became the ring of syberis, ebberron became the world of ebberron and Khyber became Khyber, which is basically ebberron's version of the underdark.
