One of my favorite songs...I first heard Sylvian (didn't know japan) when it was released in '86 it changed everything. a true poet

Masterpiece. My fave song of all time …despite being a huge Bowie, Radiohead and Pink Floyd fan. And a great assessment of Sylvian Todd. It’d be good to also see/hear your reaction to the song Ride by Sylvian.

David has collaborated with many great singers and musicians over the years. He's legendary, and one of the last genuinely creative musicians left in this world.

9 minutes goes so fast, I could listen to David Sylvian all day long!!

The first golden 4 David Sylvian album releases brilliant trees, gone to earth, alchemy/shamen and secrets of the beehive were so important to me, they stood out from everything else in the 80s I know those LPs note for note as I played them so much...great day to see you playing n loving them too......other bands close to me and were Cocteau twins treasure and dead can dance,,,,,back in the 80s a friend and me interviewed Liz Fraser from Cocteau's for a magazine and I asked about if they'd like to work with David Sylvian she replied she would love to work with him.....of course it never happened but I can only dream of how good it would of been,,,great review

I remember the first time i heard/watched Steel Cathedrals on VHS. Didn't own a VCR at the time (but that never stops a fan!) so had to watch it in the college library. Bought it on cassette, too - to listen to at home.

@@rjones8175 I still have my VHS tape of steel cathedrals and the limited tape release I need to catch with your KZread posts the ones I've watched are spot on....Rain tree crow project has the fantastic Michael brook guest guitarist who give U2 their sound with the infinite guitar. You probably know this already he's from Canada he first worked with Eno, Lanois in 1985 with Hybrid, I'd recommend listening Cobalt Blue and Live at the Aquarium....it's amazing. Keep up the posts and I'm going do my homework and watch your others post

Brilliant song and great video, thanks. Suggests Nine Horses and the song Darkest Birds. It's a collaboration with his brother Steve Jansen (ex Japan) and Burnt Friedman. Brilliant album that will show another side of Sylvians production. Well, you will recognize it but a bit different. 👍 Darkest Birds is, as you were asking, a little bit up tempo as well 😉

I don't remember hearing it before Alan but anything is possible for sure. I don't see it listed twice on the play list. kzread.infosearch?query=david%20sylvian It has happened before though.
