A D5 at over 50 yrs old HE IS STILL A BEAST!

What i like about David is when he hits high notes he still sounds like a man, unlike many male singers who can hit the high notes but not with the strength and power David does.

Kevin Thompson. That has been exactly my thoughts. I like a man to sound like a man when they sing. David has always sounded so masculine even in the high notes. I believe that is because his voice is so powerful.

Best vocalist in the world.

Agree! One of the best in my lifetime. His singing touches my soul. But his vocal acumen is very rare. What a range! You want to get up and shout at his high notes. Audiences go wild over his singing because he not only has a remarkable God given talent, but his singing is emotional, heart felt and it resonates in our hearts,

Thanks for doing this! This was recorded in his music room, in his house on his Tennessee farm. Hopefully he releases more from this online event where this Whitney cover came from. David is extraordinary. IMO he gets better and better with age. He still puts out new material in his gospel genre regularly and there are 100’s of youtube videos of him both solo and with The Gaither Vocal Band since 1999. He’s classically trained and has an entire repertoire of classical music from a TV special and his CLASSIC DVD. They are all on KZread. I suggest his a cappella Ava Maria/Lords prayer 1st. All are amazing.

I have seen David live 11 times now and for me, he is and has been for some time now, the best male vocalist in the world and it's not even close.

David Phelps was the tenor for the Gaither Vocal Band (GVB) for almost 18 years, off and on. He is simply stunning. The GVB has a history of having some of the best tenors on the planet: Steve Green, Larnelle Harris, David Phelps, Wes Hampton - and on... a properly trained tenor should easily be able to go into the mid to upper 60's. Steve Green was the first tenor the GVB had starting back in 1980. Steve Green still sings and tours professionally. In his prime, his voice was at least 30 percent richer and fuller than it is now, if you can imaging! Among tenors in I would say decades, his voice is a Stradivarius and he is Paganini playing it!
