Loved this score since i first seen the movie many years ago, loved the movie don't know what the critics were thinking when they panned the movie.

No film or piece of music has touched my soul like Heaven's Gate. From the pure soul.

This piece was truly significant when I first heard it in the film…used during the skating scene it was incredibly effective. Excellent musicianship .

one of the most underrated film scores ever and certainly needs more love as the film itself also needs some re-evaulation as i didn't like it at first only to grow on me for years until the 2012 restoration as i really liked it a lot more though it is still flawed.

The soundtrack to this film kept murder from happening in my household as a teen up in the Bronx. It was the record I put on during dinner. Everyone at the kitchen table, the kids too, sat on steak knives during the meal in case anyone got cute. How could I not be eternally grateful to Mansfield?

Standing in the roller rink and you played this, we were all moving to the music. It was so much fun to watch the skaters and the dance...

Mansfield's personal life was impacted by this film in such a sad way. His objectivity in the interview he did with Criterion is quite something when you learn about he and Joann Carelli's relationship.

it is called double-stopping. He did it allone with one Violin at the same time.
