I just don't get it why everybody is calling him a genius. He can't even complete a full sentence that shows any deeper meaning behind his intensions or stop waiving with his fingers and distract so fundamentaly from what ever he is trying to explain, in the very same moment. Lynch is trying his best, I agree. But there is nothing worth of mentioning or idealize him es the best movie Maker of all times or even as genius. He just sucks in my opinion. I'm not a fan or glorify and kind of filmmaker. But as a example, compared to Takeshi Kitano. Kitano accomplished more then him. And is able to make his point clear by using straight words without making magic with his fingers or being called a genius. Tarkowski another example but I'm not going into detail here. I'm happy you found something you like at Lynch's work. Maybe he inspires you in some way. But this cult like, unfounded glorifying is a joke. Not that you think you care about my opinion or view at thi topic right here. Nobody cares about anybody's view today. Only about why someone doesn't share his view. At least this makes you now understand my motivation.

I'm not particularly a fan of Rose as an interviewer, but he's interviewed some of the great minds, artists, and writers (i.e. David Lynch, Martin McDonagh, David Foster Wallace, Kazuo Ishiguro, Harold Bloom, Antonin Scalia, etc.) it's actually quite impressive. If only he were more of an interviewer like Peter Robinson.

I miss the days when we had talented people producing movies and television. Now we get a never ending stream of "netflix originals."
I totally forgot he directed The Straight Story. Mostly because it was such a straightforward, sincere film. Not like anything else he’s done.
Sure is nice not having to endure Rose asking then answering his own questions anymore. (I don’t think he’s wearing pants during this interview 🤔)

How do they not include DUNE in his filmography??? Yeah they had budget problems, but the set design was amazing up until then... And his whole approach was still amazing. HOW did they not list it??

Btw German "Zeitgeist" probably doesn't mean what David thought of here. In German, this word simply means what is mainstream in terms of ideas/concepts in a certain period of time/epoche - it's not metaphysical or spiritual.

thats exactly what he means by whats in the air. the spiritual is what is inside. thats why he talks about needing to wait until y2k calms down for there to be something new in the air.

As a Psychologist i would say no... Most of the time the most psychologically healthy people produce the works most considered "bizarre" because they unconsciously use art to explore these different facets of human complexity. The sick ones are the repressed and the puritans... They who keep a dark side, which only grows like a snowball. But i dont think a troll cares...
