I think a lot of the Evan Solomon bashers should keep in mind that its near impossible that an American version of Evan Solomon could have ever made it to a position to ask these sorts of questions (which hordes and hordes of self proclaimed american "liberals" totally agree are valid questions). Therefore we should be grateful that the Canadian representative of this class of people - the establishment "left" (or Canadian "centrist") - got crushed in their place. It's an important interview to have taken place at that time, and Solomon did his part to make it happen. A lot of political journalists would just never have had Chomsky on, end of story. Especially the ones that have made their way to the top of American political media.

O are we going to miss Chomsky! He speaks the larger truths. A truly great man!

I really respect Chomsky I really do enjoy listening to him speak. However he does have some flaws such as JFK and MLK assassination and also 9/11. When ever it comes to conspiracies that are over whelmed with evidence against the official story he plays dumb which always made feel sceptical of him.

Still the best interview of Chomsky. This interviewer managed to keep up and push the boundaries ask the relevant questions that resonate with the populations and so on. He hands down did amazing job.

Watching the full video actually gives better context. Used to dislike this guy but it appears more that he's just deliberately trying to rile him up with hard questions

I actually think Evan Solomon did a pretty good job and brought the best out of Chomsky.

I have lost respect for both Chomsky and Maddow in the past year. 911 has massive, gaping holes in it which they choose , not only to ignore, but belittle those who are doing their duty by challenging this very serious event. Truth, especially on this matter is absolutely paramount. And NO, YOU DONT HAVE THE CREDENTIALS TO SHUT DOWNNTRUTH BY CALLING US DANGEROUS OR "VIDEO

Good interview. Very effective use of Devil's Asvocate strategy. Well done Solomon. Obviously its a bit terrible since most of Chomskys points are pretty straight-forward and Solomon appear to be trying to have an intelligent and sophisticated discussion on whether America is allowed to bomb civilians or not. But he gave Chomsky opportunity to explain is views in detail.

I can't be the only one who caught the sarcasm of Chomsky at 10:40, where he comments about George Bush's ''favorite philosopher'' & looks directly into the camera when saying it. The idiot Solomon didn't only catch, he assumed Chomsky religious nut by answering his question in ''I don't want to get religious on it'' ''that Chomsky is on another land with his gospel''. This is pure comedy

This is an absolutely fantastic display of maximum scholarship!

I remember seeing this program when it was first viewed. It was reported that more calls came in during the program then any program ever. Solomon the interviewer, demonstrated his total inability to comprehend Chomsky’s basic statements.

The interviewer was just playing the role of your average brain washed semi intellectual media personality. Noam did his role of speaking simple truth and facts to crush the interviewer. They both did a good job.

Back in the day, the American brainmelting media apparatus wasn't as filtered as it is today. They were still in the kind of early stages of building & testing this massive opinion shaping monstrosity. So every once in a while, they'd fuck up by allowing Chomsky on a channel where he could demolish dimwits and subordinated media personnel without being cut off every 2 seconds. They fixed that mistake in the later years.

Throughout the interview, Chomsky explains his conclusions quite rationally as Evan Solomon rapidly fires counter arguments regardless of their strength, sometimes for the sake of equivalency. Then at the end, Solomon presents Chomsky as some buggy radical.

I'm Scottish, I don't watch US TV but I do watch Noam Chomsky. I've never seen him so pissed at the stupidity from across the table. Evan got slapped up lol. Props to him for holding people accountable. Surely he did the same when he interviewed people with their hands on the reigns of state power.

What I find impressive about Chomsky is how much information he has stored about US foreign policy and world affairs. You better know your stances if you are going to get in a argument with him because he knows way more than pretty much anyone else.

Solomon was asking dumb questions on behalf of unenlightened Canadians, playing the devil's advocate, yes. Not a good interviewer. He, and we, need much more re-education by Chomsky. Even funnier watching this in 2018 over a decade when it was recorded as he tries to corner Chomsky on why invasion of Afghanistan wasnt good "didnt it overthrow Taliban, there were people on streets celebrating". Chomsky of course demolishes him but invasion of Afghansitan started 17 (SEVENTEEN) years ago as of time me writing this and war, misery, terror, car and suicide bombings, mass poverty, huge illiteracy and suffering are daily life in Afghanistan as result of US occupation, not to mention Taliban is still active, and lets not even go into the fact that Taliban was founded by CIA in Operation Cyclone when US funded so called mujahedin (arabic for jihadis, ironically translated as "freedom fighters" in 80s US propaganda) in late 70s and 80s against Soviets and secular Afghan government and that those mujis later founded both Taliban and Algaeda. So even if the US did managed to destroy Taliban and sectarian problem (it didnt) it would be a problem created by them
