Absolutely...from the age of 12-22...that was the 80s for me...started with the empire strikes back in 1980 and ended with batman in 1989....we had kick ass summer films during that decade

​@@gregoryfujita8265 I hear you. 11-21 for me. We got everything from Star Wars and Indiana Jones...I personally got a Mets WS win and an Islander 'dynasty', and the NY Giants won twice also. Music was great, music videos were big, malls were social, and I went from Elementary School almost to getting my Bachelor's Degree...all while ultimately learning that the Soviets were more scared of us than we were of them and that our parents were NOT as smart and innocent as they pretended to be. Heady times. We went into the 90s and Clinton and the internet age LOVING every new thing...and now we are old enough to realize that the NEW THINGS NEVER STOP COMING!!!!

As an 80’s kid, I cry now hearing this. Those times are gone forever. But I’m so glad I was there. ❤😢

I didn't like the 80s. It kept feeling like it was falling just short all the time. Like the engine of a sports car that won't quite turn over. For me, things really took off in the early/mid-90s. The internet arrived. Computers _finally_ started living up to the promise they'd made 20 years before. Conservative politics in the Anglosphere was on the back burner and progressives were moving us forward again. The 80s were the prep to all that... but not that themselves.

I was in my 30's in the 80's and I was still lucky to have even lived then.

This has to be one of the greatest instrumental masterpieces of all time🔥❤️

Life moves so quickly. The days can be long, but the years fly by and, eventually, you're only left with nostalgia for the past. This is a masterpiece and it brings so much emotion.

This song captured our lives beautifully in the 80s - 90s. I was in highschool and like the theme of the movie, the thought of being caught between young and what the future holds was just so true. Even now, those moments still hang around and we're still trying to figure out how to live the rest of our lives... Enjoy "life as it happens around you" because one day when it's gone, hopefully - if you're lucky - you'll have great memories to take with you when you go... ☺️

I’ll watch a movie that everyone is talking about and I am left feeling nothing, like there’s some part of the movie they forgot to put in. I walk away feeling like I missed something. Instead of having an impact on my emotions, it’s covered up with action and special effects. Unless, I’ve just become jaded as I’ve gotten older? 🤪🤯

Whenever I listen to this or watch this movie, I am reminded about the fact that time doesn’t stand still. There will never be another today. Live it to the fullest and don’t always look back. Great piece of music, David Foster!

Better to shed a bittersweet tear, than to have blinked and missed the moment. Everything being relative, a life with no pain would be as unbalanced as a life with only joy. There would be no boundary to make a distinction by which time could be measured. Much like the contrast of day and night, one needs struggle and pain to appreciate ease and comfort. Nostalgia is simply the mind crafting a space for those memories to live again. Child's play for an imagination stifled by the 9 to 5 grind, we sometimes are better time-travelers than we give ourselves credit for.

I was fortunate to grow up in the 80s. This is one of my favorite movies of all, and every time I hear the theme song I think about college and how much I miss it. If anything I learned, if you have to chase your dreams because they won't chase you back...

Cause the 80s had the right balance of everything. A taste of technology but it wasn't over done. Family, hope, opportunity. Everything was in balance. That's why it was such a great time. Today everything is way way way out of balance. We choke on technology and family is now social media. It's out of balance. As a result everything is completely screwed up.

The 80's was a great decade! I'm glad I lived through it.

Usually, most people want to go back to a time mentally when they were young teens/adults, but I’m finding that the 80”s was an exception because whether you were a child, young adult, old etc.. they all want to cling to this beautiful era in time!

Bryan Go ~ Why do people say it was "simpler" times, when it really wasn't? The same thing is said of the 60s and 70s. There was a lot of problems and complexities in the world in the 80s, that brought us to where we are now. It seemed simpler because we saw it through the eyes of youth, our view and fond memories of the time. We filter the bad. Do you think we'll look back on today in 30 years and say it was simpler times?

Cried like a baby listening to this

I was a senior in high school when this movie was released. I was struggling with knowing one chapter of my life was ending while another chapter was just beginning. This song reminds me of better days when my biggest worry was whether I’d get to see my girlfriend that day. This song reminds me of the time in my life when I was most happiest and when everyone I knew was still alive. Damn, I miss the 1980s. Hell, I miss my youth. I’ve seen this movie easily 50 times. I’ll watch it anytime it is being aired. This movie is the quintessential 1980s movie. This song conjures up unbelievable nostalgia.

I guess in hindsight it was a clever move having these characters grow up and move on instead of just repeating the same John Hughes formula over and over but, man.... Graduated HS in 88. What a great time it was. I was a breakdancer, loved the 80's girls, big hair, no social media, plenty of actual talk and the movies like this were a big deal.

The 80s were my teenage years. The whole entertainment industry was absolutely awesome. I still listen to the music on a daily basis. BEST DECADE EVER!

Every time I hear this song it's almost as if I am hearing it for the very first time. It moves me in a way I simply can't describe well enough. It makes me feel very young and very old at the same time. Like I am watching someone's life pass before my eyes and sometimes I feel that life is my life. Wonderful music from a time that was so very different from today.

1989 - We used this song for our Graduation recession walk. 31 years later - the school still does. Great movie, great memories!

I never get tired of hearing this fabulous piece of music I'm a 80sholic and this film is still in my top 10 and I'm 45 now and so miss those days they will never be repeated in my lifetime or any other they were unique.

I'm almost 40 and I totally agree. This movie showcased how back then, that movies had brilliant writers. Who could develop incredible characters and storylines. You add on top of that, how the 7 who got picked for these main roles were all truly talented actors. We would never get a movie like this today, ever.

@@MsSparklesNGlitter I agree being myself as 90s kids born in 1996 I also miss 80s so much because I 💖80s so much filled with emotional moments and innocence we could not get back those 80s again I love these 80s music sounds so much and all the music producers were incredible and life was really incredible in 80s compared to today

I remember this from my high school days! What a wonderful time! Kids of today’s would have no idea how great to be proper youngsters!

Thirty-six years have passed by now. Still a great favourite of mine to play on my sax. Sadly a few of my school & college friends are now leaving this life.

Sorry about your friends but you need to know there still out there. Its heart breaking to lose people, but the good news is there alive beyond what understand in the mainstream. Always wanted to learn the saxophone just to play this song!

This music, as many others from the 80's, has helped inspire the writings of a book I'm working on that takes you back to the 80's. A time before cell phones and social media. A time when being with friends was everything in the world and cruising the Blvd was a must on the weekends. I'm so thankful I was a teenager growing up in the 80's. Greatest decade ever!

The 80’s will hold a special ceremony lace for me. My first boyfriend and I loved to slow dance to this song. I was 16 and he turned out to be my husband. We split 19 yrs later and this song haunts me. But what a great decade.

Man, do I ever miss the 80s. Graduated HS in 84 and had the best time of my life in that decade.

One of the greatest 1980's movies of all time in my book. Loved this movie so much! Best times in my life as a teenager! Best memories to date! 1985 please come back to me!

Totally agree, didn't you believe at the time that it was perfectly cast? l could imagine those characters possibly being who they were in real life. Didn't Demi actually go on to have substance abuse issues and Rob Lowe because of his free and easy lifestyle with women had some real challenges early in his career. Just a few other things, not enough is made of the fact that 2 of the most beautiful women of the era Andie McDowell, and Demi Moore were cast in the same movie and neither one of them was a blond. With the beautiful music written by David Foster this movie was one for the ages.

@@gregoryphillips3969the blonde thing you mentioned-yes I noticed that..most “hot chicks” in movies of today are blonde. Most “sexy” reality show girls are also blonde. Maybe this is just in the UK though.

I don’t know what it is about this song but it is captivating - and still is- after playing it so many times over a period of 30 years!

Great song. Great movie. Entertainment and music hit it's zenith in the 80's. Glad I was a kid during this period.

The 1980s were far behind the 1960s. The 60s were four decades in one, sudden radical changes from one year to the next, Youth emancipation, rebellion, a quixotic fight against the imposible. The 80s were mor e like "The Empire Strikes Back", "The Revenge of the Burgoise", "Plutocracy Capitalism Triumphs", "Dreams are only dreams".

I was in grade school when this movie came out. Such great memories. One of my favorite films.

That touch that just the 80's had! I miss The Good Old Days!

This music has so much melody. I love it.
