Thing is he didn't have a core sound, hence why he was so amazing. His style was 'Bowie'. Listen to his early albums, those in between & then his Last you cannot hear a particular "sound" like a Metallica album. He's so diverse. His 'sound' is David Bowie. To suggest his sound is heavy metal at the core is ludicrous.

Comparing Metallica to Bowie is just too weird. Bowie nailed and (rightly) got bored with 'metal' as far back as 'The Man Who Sold the World' album. All his subsequent dabbling with 'rock' was way more interesting than any 'rock' or 'metal' band ever.

Miss rock n roll, it’s been dead 2010-2020 more than any decade. Old heavy metal bands releasing reunion albums does not a comeback make. Neither does the strokes doing an album 20 years in that just makes you want to listen to the 2 decade old debut. Jack White is the last genius of rock n roll and he’s needed now, not his side projects, white stripes level sounds is what he needs to do. It died of natural causes I guess, how much more could we squeeze out of a 4-5 person guitar based band. Hope I’m wrong and a resurrection is drawing near.

The Cure are amazing. Scott Walker was too, the ultimate god of dark music. Walker passed and I will miss him every day. Nontheless, his music in some areas is rather reminiscent of that of the Cure (Cossacks Are) etc.
