    Lodger is under appreciated

I remember this commersh. I had heard the name David Bowie, but I was too young to really appreciate The Gentleman's brand of musical enchantment. This commersh means more to me now that I realize that David Bowie is the Thin White EMPEROR (never a duke. Higher and grander than a duke or even king) of the musical universe. Thanks for uploading

eyeh8nbc, great screen name, I hate the bastards too. Thanks so much for posting this. It's a treasure. Posts like this are the reason youtube exists. I doubt I'd have ever seen this if not for you. Very cool.

I remember seeing this commercial all the time while spending part of my summer at cousins' house in New Jersey. Believe there was a Who commercial that was played a lot ar the time, as well. Anyone remember?

Yes. That is where I saw it too, in New Jersey visiting my grandparents over the summer. I bought the LP when I got home.

Nice. Love seeing the "available at" at the end there. Any idea which New York station this was on?

"...as The Lodger", was David Bowie also portraying a character on this album?

+Michael Roberts Actually the full name of the character was "the fat black lodger" however Bowie shortened it to "the lodger" due to the riots that were taking place at the same time (you can see Bowie participating in the protests at 0:12). In later interviews he said he doesn't know what was he thinking, and it probably was due to him being completely clean and straight-edge at the time.

He was portraying a lonely man in a single rented room , he did the whole performing in a chair on a private secret tour when just 12 people attended , I was one of these people !
